We Spend Millions On Our Children - So What? | MY EXTRAORDINARY FAMILY
FOR the past couple of years, Barrie and Scott Drewitt-Barlow have been building a multi-million pound mansion and today they are revealing it to their children. The couple wanted to ‘bring a bit of Malibu to the Essex countryside’ and the home is complete with a pool, sauna, car showroom, stables and aquarium. Scott said: “You name it, we’ve got it.” The family are no strangers to judgement about their lifestyle and spending. They regularly receive comments criticising them for ‘spoiling’ their children. Barrie said: “We have a lot of love for our kids, we just like to buy them nice things as well. Just like you would do if you could afford to do it.” Scott added: “Anyone that comes your way and say: ‘oh you’re just spoiling them’, they would do exactly the same it’s just they didn’t get off their a*** and actually do anything about their life… It’s just pure jealousy.” As well as showing the kids the new house, Barrie and Scott have a surprise for Aspen and his wife Pim. Plus Barrie’s daughter Saffron also has some news to share with the family...

01:07This is a palatial entrance hall with our underground fish tank for the last four years
01:14We've been busy spending money, but you have you've not stopped, you know how to spend money better than anybody
01:21You do there was a house in Malibu that we used to own and this house is kind of modeled on that house in Malibu
01:28So what I thought I was going to do is bring a little bit of Malibu to the Essex countryside and voila
01:34Here we are. We've got just over an acre of land here. The mansion is set with its own stables

01:58Everyone has a living room dining room kitchen, but not everyone has a bar. It's completely unique

02:10In total we spend almost five million
02:14Four million on the build and then another million on furniture. We're a big family
02:18So we have a nice big dining room table
02:21We like to entertain our whole house is built for entertainment, you know, people seem to like it

02:31This is our kitchen. This is David's domain private chef and this is where the family kind of eats in the evening
02:40So we sit here and watch David cook and we just kind of all chill together. I love it
02:45We have the chefs the gardeners the housekeepers personal assistants nannies
02:54We worked really closely with the interior designer
02:57We picked some things that we wanted from here there and everywhere and we kind of took all the ideas and put it all together
03:03As one so we really just plagiarized everybody else's ideas. Well, no we
03:09Stole ideas but made it our own because everything's still bespoke in the house

03:17So this is Barry's favorite chair as you can probably tell it is him. He thinks he's king of the house

04:56Well, my kids don't know anything else. I grew up on a council estate as so did Scott so for us every day
05:02We're like, holy this is actually our house for our kids. They don't know any different, you know
05:09Even the 20 odd year olds they they're used to this kind of a lifestyle. So

07:03They flew over from Dubai and built this indoor aquarium in the floor for us
