BARRIE Drewitt and his family have been called many things over the years but 'normal' is not one of them - and he wouldn’t have it any other way. Barrie told Truly: “My family is the ultimate modern family, and there’s going to be many more like us in the years to come." Barrie has five children with ex husband Tony, and although the couple have separated, they still live together under one roof with their new partners. Barrie went on to find love with Scott, 23 years his junior, and who just so happens to be eldest daughter Saffron’s ex boyfriend... Or so they had people believe. Behind closed doors, it was all just a facade to help conceal Scott’s sexuality, but the press lapped it up and it made headlines around the world. Despite the backlash and judgement from those on the outside, the pair have a strong relationship and have gone on to have a daughter of their own - with another planned for the future.

00:00Lots of people think it's weird that I would be dating my daughter's ex.
00:04I see the keyboard warriors. I see the types of things they write.
00:09But I love it. Bring it on.
00:13Not today, thank you.
00:17Just kidding. Come on, come into the house.
00:20I was definitely attracted to Scott the moment I met him.
00:23I mean, he's gorgeous. I just wanted to rip his clothes off and get him in bed straight away.
00:28I was still kind of that straight lad, so I didn't really have that attraction straight away.
00:33My s*** was s***. I was straight.
00:37But then, I don't label my s***. I like what I like.
00:41So, to Scott, how did you meet Saffron and how long did you date?
00:49So when Scott was coming out, he didn't want to just announce to his parents and everybody that he was gay.
00:56So between him and Saffron, they came up with this plan to say that Saffron was actually his girlfriend.
01:03And in fact, they were. He was literally seeing me.
01:06It kept our relationship secret.
01:10I'm a filthy secret.
01:12Well, you're not a secret anymore. The whole world knows who you are now.
01:17It's kind of nice.
01:20Lots of people think it's weird that I would be dating my daughter's ex.
01:24But the fact is, she was never his ex. That's the thing.
01:27And unfortunately, once it appears in the Daily Mail or The Sun, it has to be the word of God.
01:35He didn't want to tell everybody he was gay. They were best friends.
01:38They went out to a few parties and clubs together.
01:41They got papped and ended up in the paper as being together.
01:44I never actually dated Scott. He was my best friend.
01:47We were just best friends from the minute he came in.
01:49You should have seen the backlash. It was horrendous.
01:53The hate mail and how he's a homewrecker.
01:56And how could I go with my daughter's boyfriend if he was my daughter's ex-boyfriend?
02:03I would still have no qualm whatsoever in f***ing him.
02:07There'd be no problem with that at all.
02:09If they're done, then he's mine if I want him and that's it.
02:13But the fact was, he never really was.
02:20I think our relationship is almost like...
02:24It's very passionate and very open, isn't it?
02:29Yeah. I always see other couples and there's always something to moan about their partner.
02:35But we don't do that. We do things for each other and we just have fun.
02:40Oh my God! What happened?
02:44That 19-year-old's gone!
02:46The weirdest part about having my dad and Scott date is that
02:49Scott sometimes tells me a bit too much information that I'm not really interested in knowing.
02:53He'll tell me that they've had s*** or something and I don't need to know about that.
02:58Scott and I have been together now for almost nine years.
03:01When Scott and I decided that we were going to have a family,
03:03we knew that we wanted to have a biological link to the baby that we had.
03:07So the best way forward was to find a surrogate and an egg donor.
03:11We ended up with a beautiful daughter, Valentina.
03:15She's ten months now.
03:17Nine.
03:18She's nine.
03:19She's nine months.
03:21You could have just lied then and just agreed with me for like two seconds.
03:25She's ten months.
03:26Then corrected me.
03:27We're so lucky really and that's why we decided that we're going to have another one.
03:31So that by this time next year, she'll have a brother or a sister.
03:36What are we having to eat tonight?
03:41Our family is seen to be very unconventional.
03:45I've certainly seen attitudes change over the years.
03:54Actually, I can't sleep at night because of the amount of judgement and keyboard warriors.
03:59I couldn't give a flying f*** what any of them thought about me to be honest.
04:03Honestly, they don't pay my bills.
04:05They don't pay my kids' bills.
04:07They're not paying for a new G-Wagon next month.
04:10I'm doing all of that so I don't answer to anybody.
04:13If they don't like it, tune off.
04:15Even when this goes out, there'll be a hundred negative comments underneath the stream.
04:20You can better plan it for them.
04:22But I love it. Bring it on.
04:25What would you say to the haters?
04:27I don't really have anything to say to the haters who say it's weird because they can think what they want.
04:32We know as a family what we are and what we're like.
04:35That's all that matters really.
04:37It takes many different types to make the world go round.
04:40We're just one of those types.
04:42You better believe that there's going to be lots more families like ours eventually.
05:02You
