00:00Hi, my name is Ben Walker. I'm a 20-year-old singer-songwriter from the
00:03North East of Scotland. I've been singing now three years and I'm playing
00:09transmit. I've been absolutely blessed over the past two years to just have had
00:12every gig just more and more folk loving what I do, loving my songs, loving what
00:18my band and I are about. When the offer came through I obviously cried. I
00:24couldn't believe I got it. It's been a dream of mine since I was like 14.
00:29It's the pinnacle of the Scottish music scene, especially for me
00:33anyway. I think what you can expect from our set is a lot of energy. I think
00:37it's probably the best place to start the party of that weekend. We're on at
00:4120 to 3 and I think it'll be an absolute scorcher of a set. I just played a
00:46festival there and I was so happy with the set, so happy with the guys. It's
00:50sounding absolutely awesome. So get yourself down, it's gonna be
00:54great. I'd say my music's for like fans of Jake Bugg, Sam Fender, Catfish and the
00:58Bottlemen. I also love country music as well, just a little bit in there. Luke
01:02Holmes fans would absolutely love my set. I don't know, my songs are
01:07generally just written off of experiences that I've had. It's pop music
01:11isn't it? It's a bit of everything. It's just all these influences. I mean I
01:15go from Oasis to Guns N' Roses to Kings of Leon. It really is just a blend of
01:21everything. Every show we give it our absolute best, so I think Transmit's
01:24just a case of turn up and do the best possible job that we can, which is what
01:28we always do, and enjoy the moment. It's a huge thing and it doesn't happen
01:32very often and so to be able to get to do it, you know, you never know the next
01:35time you're gonna be in one of these situations. I hope I'll get to play it
01:39again, you know, maybe we'll see me closing the stage one day, but until now
01:44I'm playing Riverstage on Friday and I'm so excited for it.
01:47Favourite venue in Glasgow? King Tut's. It's just everyone's favourite. I think second to that,
01:53the best venue, the one I want to play, the Barrowlands or an O2 Academy. I think
01:57that would be an absolutely awesome one. Hopefully I'll get to do that this year.
02:00And then my second favourite venue would be St Luke's. They've all got amazing
02:05character, really, really passionate staff that care about the music that goes on
02:09within it. Every gig, every day they go into work, you know they're happy to be
02:12there. And then obviously the legacy of all the amazing artists and bands that
02:17have played in these places, the events and functions that have been held. My
02:20favourite bands on the Glasgow scene just now are probably Plasticine, Brogueel and
02:25Soapbox. I think they're all doing absolute bits. They're all playing this
02:28festival as well, so I can't wait to see them. I think they're going to smash it
02:31as well. I'll be going for the Friday-Saturday. I'm going away on the
02:34Sunday to Spain songwriting. I'm not sure quite how I'm in the position to be as
02:39lucky as that to write songs in Spain, however I'm going to take it. I'm
02:43super looking forward to Gerry Cinnamon and Liam Gallagher's set and also seeing
02:47just some of my friends on the other stages, Vista's. I'm super looking
02:50forward to picture this. They've been on my For You page for ages. Yeah, it's
02:56going to be a great time. I'm looking forward to having my whole family there
02:58as well. It's going to be a nice full circle moment. They've been there,
03:00they've been here in me in my bedroom and then moved to the grain shed on the
03:04farm for the TikTok videos. So it'll be nice to see them playing to more than
03:08my mum, dad and my dog.
