00:00 So I want to talk to you a bit about you and supporting Rangers.
00:03 Obviously, you're a mad Rangers fan.
00:05 Talk to us about how that all came around.
00:08 It's just a generational thing.
00:10 My dad's a Rangers fan, my granddad's a Rangers fan,
00:14 and it's just kind of one of those things just get passed down to me.
00:17 And I've been a football fan ever since I can remember.
00:21 So I just grew up a Rangers fan and that's it.
00:24 Once you're in, you're in, aren't you?
00:25 Yeah, that's it.
00:26 And I'm guessing as well, you obviously try and attend as many matches as you can.
00:29 I know you've got a busy schedule.
00:30 I do. I do.
00:32 I think the last game I was at was the Hibs at home.
00:35 And that was the last game I'd been at in a long time,
00:39 just simply because I've been so busy.
00:42 But whenever I'm home, whenever I've got a spare minute,
00:45 I try and make it to as many games as possible.
00:47 So what are your earliest memories of supporting Rangers then?
00:50 Can you remember your first game that you ever attended?
00:52 I can. The first time I ever seen Rangers play in a stadium
00:57 was actually at Motherwell Stadium.
01:00 And I was in the away end because my mum and dad were friends
01:04 with the physio for Motherwell, so he managed to get me tickets.
01:08 And that was the first time I ever seen Rangers play.
01:11 And one of the greatest days ever.
01:13 It was like the first time actually getting to see your team play live.
01:16 Aye. Aye, there's no feeling like it.
01:18 And I'm guessing when it comes to a Cup final day,
01:21 the nerves are just on a totally different level, are they?
01:24 Through the roof. Through the roof.
01:25 I don't think I'm going to have any nails left by the end of it.
01:28 The game's leaving, we're still hours away from the game
01:30 and I'm already halfway there.
01:32 So my fingers are crossed, my toes are crossed,
01:35 and I guess we just need to wait till the 90 minutes are over.
01:39 Yeah.
01:39 See what happens.
01:40 So you were originally brought up in Airdrie, am I correct in thinking?
01:43 Yeah.
01:44 Obviously you've spent a lot of time doing gigs, etc. in Glasgow.
01:48 How big has Glasgow been for you in terms of, you know,
01:53 the launchpad to your career really?
01:55 Huge, huge.
01:56 The support, the local support has just been absolutely incredible.
02:00 Everywhere I go now, I'm just getting recognised,
02:03 and pictures, and just the positivity around meeting everybody
02:08 is just absolutely incredible.
02:10 So, aye, the support is just, it's unreal.
02:13 Absolutely unreal.
02:15 I want to talk to you as well about the run that they had to the Europa League final
02:17 a few seasons ago.
02:19 Did you manage to take in any of those games?
02:21 Yeah.
02:22 Were you in Seville?
02:24 I was. So I was on tour during the last few games.
02:28 So I got to the RB Leipzig away game,
02:31 so I was away over in Germany on tour.
02:34 I managed to get to that game.
02:36 I got to the Dortmund game at home.
02:39 Some night, that.
02:40 I got, oh, incredible night, incredible night.
02:42 I got to a few games, and then I managed to get to Seville as well.
02:46 So it was like the last day of tour was like a day before the final,
02:50 and I flew straight from there to Malaga.
02:53 I met some friends in a hotel, and then we got the bus into Seville.
02:56 So an incredible, incredible experience.
02:59 Unfortunate with the result, but that experience and the whole,
03:04 that whole campaign will just, it'll never leave me.
03:07 That'll be with me forever, and it'll be something I tell the kids about.
03:11 Fantastic. I want to touch on Philippe Clement as well, obviously.
03:14 In the door in October, a lot was made about the comings and goings
03:18 under Michael Bale last season.
03:19 What have you made of the impact he's had in the short term?
03:22 I think he's looking positive.
03:25 I think the way he talks as well is really professional, really good.
03:29 And his style of play, we've had some hiccups,
03:34 but I think we'll get there,
03:36 especially once the summer's out the way and stuff like that.
03:38 And he gets a hold on the team the way he wants it,
03:42 then I think it's going to be positive, definitely.
03:45 Fantastic. And moving away from football, obviously, your career,
03:49 what can I say? The last couple of years has just been
03:52 a bit mad for you, I guess.
03:53 It's been mental.
03:54 The last few years have been absolutely nuts.
03:58 I've just been working on music non-stop.
04:00 Since the Wellerman came out, I obviously brought out my
04:03 Sea Shanty album last year, and now we're working towards
04:06 a new album which is coming out in September.
04:09 So, aye, just working towards that.
04:12 Got a few new singles out.
04:14 Got another one coming out very, very soon.
04:17 And then got loads of festivals and shows.
04:19 And it's just absolutely incredible.
04:22 My life's been fucked upside down in the last few years.
04:24 So, yeah, and there's a tour on the way as well,
04:26 so keep your eyes open.
04:27 Stay tuned.
04:28 And I just want to touch on Highland Girl as well.
04:30 Yes.
04:31 Obviously, it's been a TikTok craze.
04:33 Yes.
04:34 A lot of people saying, you know, get it on Spotify.
04:36 I see it's on Spotify now.
04:37 Yeah, it is.
04:38 How excited are you to get another one?
04:40 It's just class.
04:42 When you put something on social media,
04:44 you're always a bit...
04:45 Well, I am anyway. I'm always a bit nervous,
04:47 because you never know what the reception's going to be.
04:50 So when you put something out and you get the reception
04:52 that I got for Highland Girl, it's just...
04:54 It's incredible. What a feeling.
04:56 And then to put it out and everybody going,
04:58 listening to it and seeing it and buying it on iTunes
05:01 and everything else, it's just...
05:02 It's incredible. Absolutely incredible.
05:04 You turn on the radio, it's on Cloud One,
05:06 so, aye, it's amazing.
