00:00Elisa, last year was a difficult one due to the crash at the Giro, now you're sitting here, you're on the stage, you're wearing the pink jersey, you must really be proud of yourself.

00:12Did you expect this massive performance?

00:15It's been emotional and long to wait so much. It's really emotional. For an Italian wearing the pink jersey, it's a big deal.

00:34To be here with such a strong team as Lidl Track has and to be so well supported is really great.

00:43Last year was really difficult for me and I really wanted to give it a good first shot.

00:51I know maybe it's only for one day, but I will be wearing a pink jersey and I'll be dreaming of the pink jersey for so long and I made it my goal.

01:02This is for all my teammates and my husband that yesterday calmed me down because I was like, tomorrow I just go down out of the blocks like a cannonball.

01:15And he was like, oh no, no, no, just pace yourself, follow the pacing and so I did.

01:21So thank you Jacopo and again thank you for everything you do for me.

01:32Elisa, how exciting it is to wear the pink jersey already from the first stage?

01:37Yeah, it's really exciting. I'm so joyful at the moment and I don't know, maybe it will be the only day I will get to wear this jersey.

01:52But I will try to honour it and I will just enjoy it and race my heart out with my teammates.

02:02I'm just very emotional at the moment. I'm so proud.

02:07Your main GC opponents are around 30 seconds behind you. How's the plan looking now in order to keep the jersey as long as possible until the finish?

02:19The Giro is long and it's only the first day. We have a plan for sure. We want to go for GC but it is possible to lose it because the second is not even a second behind me.

02:38Tomorrow is going to be another day and I'm going to try to enjoy this pink jersey to the fullest. Let's see what the outcome is.
