00:00There's nothing ironic about Alanis Morissette hitting the stage with her daughter.
00:21I'm usually so solitary on stage, I'm with my amazing band mates, but as a woman I'm
00:26up there alone.
00:27Well, Alanis wasn't alone this time.
00:29The sweet moment going down during the singer's tour stop in Nashville, bringing daughter
00:34Onyx on stage to celebrate her 8th birthday.
00:37Which came with a special serenade from her famous mom and the crowd.
00:41Happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Onyx, happy birthday to you.
01:00But the tables were turned when Onyx took the mic.
01:03Yup, that's the little one singing her mom's 1996 song, Ironic, off her hit album, Jagged
01:31Little Pill.
01:32I definitely recognize the bravery it took for me to step up and speak the truth about
01:38what was going on for me.
02:02It's like praying, when you make me cry.
02:16Looks like Onyx has some singing chops just like her mama.
02:20And who would've thought it'd figure.
02:28From Alanis, clearly a big deal in her household, to not only Onyx, but her two sons, 13 year
02:34old Ever and 4 year old Winter.
02:37My husband winks at me a lot in the grocery stores when we hear songs, and my son is always
02:41asking me, is that you mommy, is that you, no it's not.
02:45And turns out it's truly a family affair when Alanis is on the road.
02:49Just last week, she shared this pic of Winter doing her glam before a show.
02:54Alanis writing in the caption, I like to do my own makeup for most of my tour.
02:58But sometimes a master appears to show me how it's done.
03:02Multitasking has been taken to a whole new level.
03:05Yet Alanis says motherhood kind of changed her music process.
03:08I would be doing a vocal, if there were anything in my peripheral vision, I'd freak out and
03:12say, I can't focus, you know.
03:14And now I'm doing vocals and my daughter's on top of my head, I'm breastfeeding, you
03:18know, the door's opening and closing, where's the puppy, you know, and I'm doing vocals
03:22and writing and trying to eat a soup.
03:24Thankfully, I can still write and I can still do vocals.
03:27There's just 50 more interruptions a day and that's just part of this lifestyle now.
03:31And now it looks like Alanis' mini-me is following in her mama's footsteps.
