00:00 Congratulations on 30 years. Does it seem like 30 years?
00:03 It doesn't at all. It feels like yesterday, especially because Hollywood doesn't change that much.
00:11 We shot this film in LA, so it just feels like there's no time.
00:16 And of course, it's a timeless movie too. I mean, let's face it, it holds the test of time.
00:22 So the combination equals a classic.
00:26 Let me ask you, this was a turning point for your career and the Oscar nomination. How did this change your life?
00:32 Well, it was my second Oscar nomination, but it put me back in a different game than it was,
00:39 more like when I first started with Saturday Night Fever.
00:42 So the scripts got better and the positioning got better.
00:46 So it was a big improvement for me for my second time around.
00:51 And this dance scene. Amazing. What do you remember about that night?
00:56 I remember that I advised Quentin that there was more than just the twist,
01:04 that there was kind of cool steps from my childhood, the swim and the Batman and the hitchhiker.
01:12 And he said, OK, well, show me them. And I did. And he said, well, let's do it.
01:16 And if you if you find I'll call it out.
01:20 And if I find a time that I want to go from the twist to the other, we'll do it.
01:25 So we did. And that was that simple.
01:28 What was the first time you saw the movie?
01:31 I think when I was 18 was the first time that I was sort of like old enough to see it in my family.
01:38 But I was just in awe. I'm his biggest fan. So it's one of my favorite movies.
01:44 Film buff as well. So it's definitely an inspiring movie for an actor.
01:50 The Roya with cheese scene. What was it was there like improv than that or was that all written?
01:55 No, it was written exactly as it were, except that I remember just having this kind of playful,
02:05 you know, because there's such dark characters.
02:08 And I thought this is a time where I could show a lighter side to his personality that there's a hit man,
02:14 but he's interested in the differences between Burger King, McDonald's and what have you.
02:19 So I really found a moment for that character to just enjoy memories of Amsterdam
02:26 and the comparisons of Europe to New York.
02:29 And it was it felt like improv because it felt so comfortable.
02:35 So what do they call a whopper?
02:37 I don't know. I didn't go into Burger King.
