00:00We have to talk about this viral Twitter ex-response of yours
00:04to the RATBOY RENAISSANCE!
00:06My goodness!
00:07Kill me.
00:07You are a trailblazer, they are calling you.
00:10A trailblazer!
00:11I don't know what this is.
00:13Oh, how would you explain it?
00:14Someone...
00:15So there's this thing, this is called, like,
00:17Hot Ratboy Summer or something.
00:19I don't know.
00:20You know, it's like Mattie Healy and all these guys.
00:22Somebody had written on Twitter, they were like,
00:24oh, I wish Jamie Bower was still here for Hot Ratboy Summer.
00:27He really deserves it.
00:28And I was like,
00:29girl, I'm still here.
00:30Like, what do you mean you wish he was here?
00:33I haven't died.
00:35How do I feel about it?
00:36You can't stop the internet.
00:37I'm grateful.
00:38Super grateful.
00:38We love being a trailblazer.
00:40We do. We do.
00:41Ooh, we wear the title well.
00:43Been there since the beginning.
00:44I might go in anywhere.
00:46You use that much this year?
00:47Haven't had much need of it yet.
00:53Looks like we got ourselves a bad man right here.
00:56Congratulations on this project.
00:59To say it is one of the most highly anticipated films
01:03of the summer, I feel like, is an understatement.
01:05How are you guys doing?
01:06How are you feeling after Canne
01:08and just like all of the emotions surrounding this project?
01:12How are you guys doing?
01:13Go on. You were at Canne.
01:15Yeah, it's exciting.
01:16I mean, I got to witness being in a room
01:18of people applauding Kevin
01:20and him getting so emotional about it.
01:21And I think just at this point,
01:23being so close to this work with Kevin
01:28because he's so immersed in it
01:29and he's given everything to it.
01:30I mean, he's just thrown himself at it.
01:33So you just feel like you're a part
01:34of this journey that's happening.
01:36And I have so much hope that it does what he wants it to do.
01:40And so it's an exciting time for it to be coming out
01:43and for us to be celebrating us being all together.
01:45I mean, a lot of us weren't even on set on the same day.
01:47So we're all together and we get to experience it together.
01:51How great is it to reunite and be together?
01:54It's so nice. It's so nice.
01:55I think we all just feel this great level of excitement
01:58and pride, and we're all behind and with Kevin.
02:01And that's kind of how we felt whilst making this.
02:03And it's how we feel now.
02:04You know, we're just elated to be able to present it now.
02:07It's very cool.
02:08They're not taking the full measure of this, Mary.
02:12I know the man I met was on his way
02:13to kill everyone in that house.
02:15He might as well have been walking up
02:17to get the mail for all it bothered him.
02:19What was it like when the project came across
02:23in front of you and got your attention?
02:24When you saw your character and you know Kevin's behind it
02:28and this Western and what the story is,
02:30what was it about this that you were like,
02:32yes, sign me up, I want to do this?
02:34I think it's just that level of excitement
02:36that I felt when I read it.
02:38And I'm a big believer in however you feel
02:40when you enter into something is how you're going to feel
02:43whilst you're making it, right?
02:44And that's, that remains the same today.
02:46I'm still so jazzed to be able to jazz to it.
02:49Jazz, I love it!
02:51Who am I?
02:52Full day of press and now we're jazzed!
02:54I've become my own father, like send help.
02:59But no, seriously, I'm just like stoked,
03:01like completely stoked, yeah.
03:03How jazzed are you?
03:04I'm so jazzed.
03:06What was it like for you when you first heard?
03:08I mean, do you immediately think
03:10to knowing Kevin's history with Westerns,
03:12you're in good hands?
03:13I got a call from my agents who said
03:15that Kevin Costner wanted to send me something
03:17and then speak to me, and I was like,
03:19because that happens every day, you know?
03:22I was like, what on earth has Kevin seen of mine
03:25that he wants me to be in his film, you know?
03:27So I was just shocked that he even knew who I was,
03:29to be honest.
03:30And then I read it and it's magnificent.
03:32And then speaking to him and just meeting a man
03:35who is, he's so wise and he speaks in such detail
03:37about this project.
03:39And he had so many grand ideas
03:41and he has so much love for the character.
03:42And so I just was like, oh, this is so exciting.
03:45I get to ride horses.
03:46I get to do a Western with a man
03:48who is known for Westerns.
03:50So I think it was always really exciting.
03:52What kind of director is he?
03:54He's an intimidating man.
03:55So I would be curious, like, you know,
03:56when you're on set with him, like, how is that dynamic?
04:01He's a very powerful man.
04:03He has a lot of energy, he has a lot of commanding energy.
04:05He's a very strong leader.
04:07I think that's really important on a set of this scope,
04:10of this size, that's going for that long,
04:12to be able to hold a crew and a cast and cattle together
04:16for that long of amount of time.
04:18You need to be a man who's got,
04:21who's really stands his ground.
04:23But he's not just that person,
04:25he's also really gentle and generous, so.
04:27Yeah, generous.
04:28Generous with his heart and with his mind
04:30and with his gifts.
04:32Yeah, yeah.
04:33Trust.
04:34He puts, you know, he gives trust
04:36and he makes you want to step up.
04:40I joke about it in the sense of like,
04:42he's kind of making us all look like we're lazy
04:44and he's doing a million things at once,
04:46but it's kind of, it's almost inspiring.
04:50Have you guys felt that fire kind of be contagious from him
04:54in terms of like what you guys want to do now
04:56and in knowing that you can do everything
04:58if you want to as well?
05:00Yeah, it's also really hard to get films made
05:03and he's just been with this thing
05:05for as long as we've both been born
05:07and to sit with something and love something that much
05:10and to keep fighting and fighting and fighting for it.
05:12I love someone who's like,
05:14I'm gonna bust to get this thing done.
05:17Like people who've got a lot of fight,
05:18I really respect that.
05:20And it has definitely made me go,
05:21like certain things that I have dreams about doing,
05:24I'm like, if he can do this, I'm like,
05:27you know, definitely, it's definitely inspiring.
05:30And that's what the film is about too.
05:31I mean, everyone's just chasing their American dream,
05:34you know?
05:35What is the dream for you guys?
05:37I know it's such like a broad question,
05:39but like coming off of this film,
05:43is that dream now moving forward?
05:45Wow, I mean-
05:47How much time do we have?
05:49The blessing would be to be able to continue
05:51telling stories for the rest of my life.
05:53That would be a blessing.
05:54The fact I can make this a career,
05:56the fact I can do this and survive on this
05:59is nothing short of a damn miracle.
06:03So I'm very lucky to be doing that.
06:05But on a personal level, my farm,
06:09that's what I want.
06:10Amen.
06:12What about you?
06:13To keep being stretched.
06:15As an actor, I love, I mean, with this one,
06:17I'd never done a western, I'd never ridden horses,
06:19you know, I'd never done a period piece.
06:21So just to keep sort of finding roles
06:24that challenge you and like stretch you,
06:25like how, like where is the limit
06:28of what you're capable of doing as an actor
06:30and how can you like keep sort of raising the ceiling
06:34is what's interesting to me about this job,
06:35is that it just keeps changing, keeps morphing.
06:37I'm never like, oh yeah, I've nailed it.
06:39It's like, it keeps shifting.
