00:00The Marcos Administration continues to find ways to provide affordable rice prices to Filipinos.
00:07That is why the Kadiwa Stores in various parts of the country continue to sell 29 pesos per kilo of rice.
00:15This is Claycel Pardilla in Detail.
00:20Grandma Maria has already saved up to buy the items for her grandchildren for the upcoming school year.
00:27It's a good thing that she saves a lot when she buys 29 pesos per kilo of rice from the Kadiwa Store.
00:35It's important because for us who are poor, we are always short of budget.
00:42In the market, it's 52 pesos. Here, it's only 29 pesos.
00:46For more beneficiaries who are old, like Grandma Maria,
00:52there are the poor, four-piece, and solo parents, or those in the vulnerable sector.
00:57The Department of Agriculture has launched the Large-Scale Trial of Program 29.
01:04This is a program led by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
01:07that aims to help the poorest Filipinos by selling affordable rice.
01:1510 Kadiwa Sites will open and sell 29 pesos of rice in various places in Metro Manila and Bulacan.
01:24Each site has an estimated 15,000 kilograms of rice per week.
01:29Up to 60,000 poor families will benefit from the program every month.
01:36They can buy up to 10 kilos of rice per month.
01:41The ID will only show proof that they are in the vulnerable sector.
01:45The DA said that in order to avoid repetition,
01:48the name of the beneficiary will be listed and the DA will issue a booklet in August.
01:55To monitor who abetted and we will determine where they abetted so they won't be prone for abuse.
02:06The question is, how long and where will the program be held?
02:09In the coming weeks or next month, we can go to Visayas and Mindanao.
02:17Of course, expanding in Luzon area.
02:21So, we will add more until we reach our target of nationwide 6.9 million families.
02:32Aside from Program 29, the agency will also launch a program
02:37where they will sell 45 to 48 pesos per kilo of rice.
02:42Some groups of farmers were called to the DA's office to help the poor Filipinos.
02:48But some groups of farmers petitioned the Supreme Court
02:52to stop and void Executive Order No. 62.
02:57Under the so-called law,
02:59from 35 percent, they reduced and added to 15 percent the tariffs on the harvested rice.
03:06According to the Federation of Free Farmers and SINAG,
03:09aside from the lack of consultation,
03:12they are afraid that the imported rice will cause losses to the local farmers.
03:17They believe that the price of imported rice will not go down despite the reduction of tariffs.
03:23It will go up because other countries feel the need for rice.
03:2896 percent of the farmers,
03:32if the price of imported rice goes down to P17,
03:36they will buy rice without tariffs.
03:41Despite the Supreme Court's petition,
03:43the DA admitted that there may be a delay in the importation of imported rice.
03:48Is the agency ready?
03:50The government is always ready.
03:52Kalaysal Pardiliya for Pambansang TV in the new Philippines.

04:05for the strengthening of the Kadiwa Stores in Metro Manila.
04:08This is after Agriculture and Management Service Director Junibert Gazagon asked for the fund
04:15to start the operation of Kadiwa Retailing, Selling, and Market Matching activities.
04:21Agriculture Secretary Francisco T. Laurel, Jr. approved the Special Order 944
04:28that is part of the Agribusiness and Development Division
04:32for the strengthening of the Kadiwa Retail, Selling, and Market Matching activities in the National Capital Region.
