Transcript
00:00The people of the Department of Trade and Industry have agreed on more than P10 million worth of products after knowing that these were not registered.
00:11Denise Osorio will return to the details.
00:17The Department of Trade and Industry or DTI discussed a warehouse compound in Plaridal, Bulacan yesterday.
00:23The compound was raided because of the consumer's complaint that the products were not licensed.
00:29There was no Philippine safety mark for the local products or import commodity clearance sticker for the imported products.
00:36According to DTI, the warehouses were managed by foreign nationals.
00:40These warehouses that were entered by FTEB under the Task Force Kalasag under the order of Sec Fred Pascual,
00:48it turns out that they do not have a permit, they do not have a license.
00:52What does this mean if there is no safety mark?
00:55It is not safe and it is not of good quality. So safety and quality is what we are after here.
01:03The total value of the damaged products reached more than P9.3 million.
01:08It is possible to sell the contraband products online at a cheaper price.
01:12But in exchange, it is the risk of safety.
01:16Imagine, your washing machine, your electric kettle, your cooking utensils, your household items,
01:23you won't be able to leave them, you might burn them, you might lose them in life and in our area.
01:28So it is dangerous.
01:29Household appliances, consumer electronics, lighting and wiring devices, steel products,
01:38plastic pipes and ceramic products, cement and other construction materials, chemical products,
01:44automotive-related products, and other consumer products must be registered before selling.
01:48There is a Department of Administrative Order issued by DTI that has an obligation,
01:54not only the manufacturer, not only the importer, not only the distributor, but also the seller.
02:00It is your obligation that if you are selling or offering to the public a product that is mandatorily,
02:08meaning compulsorily, licensed and certified by DTI, it is your obligation.
02:14If you don't have a certificate, license, or permission from DTI, you have to fulfill it.
02:20So it is up to you, if you are the seller, you have to pursue it to your supplier.
02:24But for us, we are looking for the same or equivalent obligation to be a seller.
02:34No one was arrested in the raid because the owner himself was not involved in the discussion.
02:38The contraband was left alone to make sure that they won't move.
02:42DTI is calling on consumers to file a complaint with their Consumer Care Department
02:48if the product they purchased came from illegal sales.
