00:00All right. Okay. Today we are back with another Haikyuu reaction video.
00:07And Jordan, we are on episode number 15 of season 2.
00:12We are moving along.
00:14Yes, sir.
00:15And the big tournament and the games are about to begin.
00:21Yeah, we're inching our way closer.
00:23Inching our way closer.
00:25And next up for Karasuno is Jozenji.
00:32Is that how you pronounce it?
00:33Something like that.
00:34Jozenji.
00:35Yeah.
00:36So this should be an interesting game.
00:39Yeah.
00:40And in the previous couple episodes, we saw Hiyakizawa.
00:47The 6'7 giant from Kakugawa.
00:51Yeah. What's his name again?
00:53I think it's Hiyakizawa or Hiyakuzawa.
00:56Okay.
00:57Wait, you got something different?
00:58For some reason, I wrote down Hiyakuzawa.
01:01Hiyakuzawa.
01:02I don't know. There's so many new characters.
01:04Yeah, yeah.
01:06Hiyakuzawa.
01:07And I really liked him, right? He was new.
01:11I believe this was one of his very first matches.
01:14Yeah.
01:15But we saw Karasuno just dominate.
01:23Yeah, and we saw them adjust.
01:25Yes.
01:26And lean on some of their more experienced players.
01:30Their upperclassmen, Daichi and Nishinoya.
01:34Yeah.
01:35And I loved all of the little intricate moves that Karasuno completed during that match.
01:43We learned about Hinata and Kageyama's minus tempo.
01:46Oh, yeah.
01:47And then saw the four-player synchronized assault at first tempo.
01:51Yeah.
01:52And then we also saw, what do they call it?
01:55What?
01:56Also called a dump?
01:58A feint?
01:59Feint.
02:00A feint? A dink?
02:01Dink.
02:02Dink, yeah.
02:03I know, there's so many little quirky names for it.
02:06Yeah.
02:07Yeah, we saw some beautiful moves.
02:08We saw Hinata jump diagonally, like sideways into the air.
02:13Yeah.
02:14At one point.
02:15We saw a lot, man.
02:18And I'm sure we're going to see even more.
02:20Yes, sir.
02:21And I loved when Hinata, again, he always has these moments where he looks at his hand.
02:30And he's even surprised at what he can accomplish.
02:33He said, this was my first point scored using something other than a quick attack.
02:37Right.
02:38When he used, I believe, the wipe.
02:40Where he hit it against the opposing player's hands and it went out of bounds.
02:45So we're learning a whole bunch of new things.
02:48Yes.
02:49And we have a whole bunch of new comments from our wonderful patrons.
02:53So let's jump right in and read them.
02:54All right.
02:55So the first comment comes to us from our wonderful patron, Bubba Berto.
03:00Bubba Berto.
03:01And Bubba Berto writes, love this reaction and episode.
03:05A dink is just another name for a feint.
03:08When the hitter tips it over the block, when it looks like they are going to hit it, it can be called a dink, feint, or tip.
03:17A wipe is when the hitter tries to purposefully deflect the ball off of the opponent's block in order to send it out of bounds.
03:26A wipe could also be called tooling the block or a block out.
03:31Interesting.
03:32Also, I love your input as athletes from another sport.
03:36It makes the reactions really fun.
03:38Always great to see another perspective from another field of athletics.
03:43Much love.
03:44All right.
03:45Thank you very much, Bubba Berto, for this additional insight.
03:50These terms, right, were thrown so many different terms.
03:54Yeah.
03:55And there's so many different terms for each move.
03:59Right?
04:00So this is helpful.
04:01Yeah.
04:02Yeah.
04:03Definitely helpful.
04:04Please keep sending us terminology and definitions and other words for them because I'm sure there's going to be a whole lot more.
04:12Oh, yeah.
04:13But I think at this point, Jared, my favorite may just be the dink, a.k.a. the feint or the tip.
04:20So beautiful.
04:21Yeah.
04:22All right.
04:23Thanks, Bubba Berto.
04:24Hope you're doing well.
04:25The next comment here comes from our patron Mami Momemo.
04:29And Mami Momemo writes, love this reaction.
04:32Fun fact.
04:33Most of international volleyball players are above two meters.
04:38The video that you've seen of Japan national team against overseas team before, the one that they did fake set, the Japanese spiker, Nishida, was only 186 centimeters, a bit shorter than Suki.
04:53And he was against above two meter blockers.
04:58That's why you've seen him jump so high.
05:00Even though we could say physical features don't matter.
05:04It's obvious that taller people get more chances to play.
05:08That's true.
05:09Yeah.
05:10Like this Haya.
05:12Hyakuzawa, I think.
05:14Hyakuzawa.
05:15Yeah.
05:16OK.
05:17And Lev, too.
05:18So you did say his name.
05:19What did I say?
05:20Hyakuzawa.
05:21You said a shorter version of it.
05:23Hyakuzawa.
05:24Yeah.
05:25So like this Hyakuzawa and Lev, too.
05:27Both of them are still newbies that can't even play basics or understand the rules yet.
05:32Or understand the rules yet got the chance to be starting members.
05:36We could see here that chances are given unequally.
05:39I love how the author portrays or portraying this fact.
05:42It's so real.
05:44But in the end, volleyball is fun to watch because even though you have advantages in height,
05:49the opponent will learn you and adjust to it.
05:52Yeah.
05:53Then you adjust again.
05:54Haha.
05:55Never-ending adjustment.
05:56That's the word.
05:57I love that Mami Momemo touched on that because that is what we saw.
06:01Yeah.
06:02From Daichi, from Nishinoya, from Kochukai, and then it trickled down to the whole team.
06:08Yeah.
06:09So it's this never-ending adjustment, I feel, going forward for all the teams.
06:13But especially Karasuno.
06:14Yeah.
06:15That they're going to have to adapt to.
06:17They're going to have to use.
06:19And it'll be interesting because not every team is going to have a two meter tall player.
06:24Right.
06:25Right?
06:26The next team they're playing, I believe they called them the most energetic team or a super energetic team.
06:31Yeah.
06:32So it'll be interesting to see how they approach that.
06:34Yeah.
06:35And I'm impressed with how quickly they're making these adjustments.
06:39Right?
06:40We don't see any moments of crisis anymore.
06:42Yeah.
06:43Like, ah, what are we going to do?
06:44They don't really freeze up.
06:45Right.
06:46They stay calm.
06:47They know that they're capable of adjusting.
06:51And I love when Koch, right, when he called that timeout.
06:55I think that was critical.
06:56And then that's the moment where, okay, you breathe and then you adjust and resume.
07:02Yes, sir.
07:03All right.
07:04Thank you so much.
07:05Mami Momemo.
07:06All right, John.
07:07We have one final comment.
07:08And this one comes from our wonderful patron, TayTayBear01, a.k.a.
07:13Lindsey E. And TayTayBear writes, I could be wrong about this, but regarding Suki's
07:19brother's comment about you only think it's obvious when you lose, huh?
07:23To me, I interpreted it this way.
07:26Suki's default assumption seems to be that the team will lose.
07:30And any time they win, it comes as a surprise.
07:33Rather than being like, of course, we won, Suki would be more likely to say, of course,
07:39we would lose.
07:40But I think we are seeing his mindset really turn around as he is beginning to build confidence
07:46in himself and the team.
07:48Yeah.
07:49Oh, yes, we are.
07:50We are.
07:51Oh, yes, we are.
07:52I mean, the moment he went over to Coach Ukai and said, please teach me how to, what do
07:57you say, how to stop a block.
07:58How to stop a block.
08:00From a more powerful player and from a taller player.
08:03Yeah.
08:04Oh, yes.
08:05Suki is going to be a pivotal part of this team.
08:09He is.
08:10Yeah, that moment was everything.
08:12Yeah.
08:13And Coach Ukai's reaction was everything, too.
08:15Because he didn't expect Suki to walk up to him and ask him a question like that.
08:20Right.
08:21Yeah, Suki wants to get better.
08:23And it's happening right before our eyes.
08:25Yeah.
08:26Yeah, this makes much more sense now that you lay it out, Lindsay.
08:29So, thank you for letting us know about this.
08:32Jerry, brother, I think it's time to jump right into this next episode.
08:37Let's go.
08:38Episode number 15.
08:40It's titled Place to Play.
08:43Let's keep the games going, everybody, and see how far Karasuno can make it.
08:49Here we go.
08:50Let's go.
08:56Let's go.
09:13Hmm.
09:20Oh, sports glasses.
09:27Oh.
09:31Come on, Suki.
09:36Oh, his brother got him phone.
09:46Hmm.
09:48Oh, he's ready.
09:49Yeah, he's determined.
09:50He's ready.
09:53Yeah.
09:57Hmm.
09:58Because he put in that work, that's why.
10:00Let's go.
10:06Hmm.
10:10Oh, simplicity and fortitude.
10:13You know he ain't skipping this intro.
10:15Never.
10:16Never again.
10:26Hmm.
10:41I almost thought that was a brother for a minute, Jerry.
10:44Who?
10:45Look at the shadow.
10:46Oh.
10:49Wait, we haven't seen any brothers yet, right?
10:51I don't think so.
10:57Hmm.
11:05People also told us that this is J-rock.
11:08Yes.
11:09We asked them the genre.
11:11Yeah.
11:14Fly.
11:19Oh.
11:27Hmm.
11:35Oh, damn.
11:36He looks like he can fly.
11:37Yeah.
11:39Oh.
11:41Hmm.
11:55Go away.
11:56Ha ha.
11:57Go away.
12:03Go away.
12:05Go away.
12:07Come on now.
12:11Here we go.
12:14Game time.
12:15Good serve, Asai.
12:17Good serve.
12:24Oh.
12:25Oh, snap.
12:26Oh, snap.
12:27Oh, we haven't seen that up to this point.
12:30He jumped while his back was to the net, it looked like, right?
12:33He was running away from the net.
12:36Yeah.
12:37Yeah.
12:39Yeah, like this.
12:40Right.
12:41Behind your head.
12:42Right.
12:49Oh, my.
12:50Oh, my.
12:51Damn, they are using all types of techniques.
12:53They got a Nishinori on their team.
12:55All right.
12:56Oh, snap.
12:57I'm going to have to adjust.
12:59Oh, snap.
13:00Oh, snap.
13:01Oh, snap.
13:02Oh, snap.
13:03Oh, snap.
13:04Oh, snap.
13:05Oh, snap.
13:06Oh, snap.
13:08It's the parents association.
13:16Baseball team in gym class.
13:20Yeah.
13:21Yeah.
13:27Hmm.
13:28It feels like instinct.
13:30Yeah.
13:32Unpredictability.
13:37Okay.
13:46Is that a...
13:48Oh, I thought she was playing for a minute.
13:53Is she the coach?
13:58Third year player.
14:08Oh, snap!
14:15Right.
14:28Come on, Hinane.
14:30Whoa! She jumped!
14:32Watch out!
14:36Is he on the wall, or just the wall?
14:42No way!
14:47I mean, sports center top 10, here we come.
14:50This whole game is made up of top 10 players.
14:54True.
15:10Good serve.
15:19Oh, here we go again, Jude.
15:21He's gonna tap it back, then there you go.
15:24All right.
15:30All right, good receive.
15:33Here it is, here it is.
15:34Come on, baby! Bang, bang! Quick! Bang, bang!
15:36Yes, sir.
15:38Bang, bang.
15:42You know when you see the blur on the screen.
15:45It's going down.
15:49Okay, he's impressed.
15:55I love Daichi.
16:03Here you go.
16:17Yeah.
16:25With two-on-two games.
16:30So they have to be all over the place.
16:35Yeah, interesting.
16:39Ha!
16:42Ha!
17:06Here we go again.
17:12I mean, they're just doing all sorts of unconventional stuff.
17:16All sorts of stuff.
17:20Oh.
17:24Yeah.
17:42Yeah.
18:00Mm.
18:12Ha!
18:16Running into the net.
18:27Kageyama, there it is. Bang, bang.
18:29Every time, baby.
18:41All right, close first set here.
18:43Oh!
18:49I don't.
18:51Oh, he blocked it.
18:53Oh, yes. Oh, yes.
19:01What was it?
19:03Oh!
19:06Somebody get that man a towel.
19:08I think technically that's still considered a block.
19:10Yeah.
19:12What do I know? That's called a face block.
19:14There you go.
19:18Okay.
19:20Let's pause there just briefly.
19:22It won't be too long.
19:24What did you pick up from this first half, brother?
19:26Yeah, I mean, we haven't seen a team quite like Jozenji.
19:29Not at all.
19:31Yet. They are incredibly unconventional.
19:33The words used to describe them were unpredictability,
19:37unrefined.
19:40One guy said they are known for practicing 2v2.
19:44Yeah.
19:45Right? It seems like one of those teams that you can't underestimate
19:50because they go out there, they just have fun and they play hard.
19:54Yeah.
19:55Right? You mix those two things together, you don't want to mess with it.
19:59That's it.
20:00Right? So you've got to put this team away if you are Karasuno.
20:03That's right. I agree with every single thing you just said.
20:05You touched it.
20:06All right.
20:07Let's keep it moving.
20:08Let's go.
20:09You said it all, brother.
20:10They are free out there.
20:11They are scrappy and I love it.
20:12And they are having fun.
20:13They are smiling.
20:14They are admiring the other team's moves.
20:15Yeah.
20:16Yeah.
20:17All right. Let's keep it moving, everybody.
20:18Here we go.
20:22Hahaha.
20:35Hmm.
20:49Is Yamaguchi coming in?
20:56Hahaha.
20:57They've got to push him off the court.
21:02Okay.
21:05Hmm.
21:16Interesting.
21:24This guy scares me every time.
21:25Hahaha.
21:44Come on. Have a seat next to coach.
21:55Hmm.
21:57Interesting.
22:01Narita.
22:12Okay.
22:19I love that.
22:20Giving some confidence.
22:21Yeah.
22:25He's good.
22:26He's good.
22:30Hahaha.
22:37Exactly.
22:40These two sort of look alike.
22:41Ah, the short hair.
22:42Yeah.
22:50Taichi is always there.
22:51Yeah.
22:53To calm everybody down.
22:55Yeah.
23:19Damn.
23:20Nice.
23:21Oh, was that it?
23:22Yeah.
23:23Yeah.
23:24Tsuga is setting it up.
23:25Yeah.
23:28All right.
23:36Oh, boy.
23:38Oh, boy.
23:39That thing is beautiful.
23:47He just loves the game.
23:50Okay, so let's do the same thing.
23:52Hahaha.
23:55Are they going to try it?
23:59Make, make, make.
24:02Hahaha.
24:03Ain't no way they're pulling this off, Joe.
24:04Ain't no way.
24:05They might.
24:06They might.
24:07Hahaha.
24:10They didn't practice that.
24:11Exactly.
24:13Nice try.
24:14Yeah.
24:17Oh, that's hilarious.
24:20So they won the first set, right?
24:21Yeah.
24:25Monkey see, monkey do.
24:27Yep.
24:30Right.
24:31That's very risky to do for a set point.
24:34Probably has to do with it.
24:41Ah.
24:51Hahaha.
24:52That's true.
24:55Wow, they're free.
25:22Haha.
25:24Get some.
25:30I think the parents probably would pick this one.
25:37Hmm.
25:46Maybe she's going to change.
25:47Hmm.
25:55Hmm.
26:08Terushima.
26:19Hmm.
26:24Hmm.
26:50You talking about Daichi?
26:55Hmm.
27:00He's got a close cropped head.
27:17Come on, Hinata.
27:18Come on, Hinata.
27:19Oh!
27:20Oh.
27:21Oh.
27:22Oh.
27:23Someone's going to be there.
27:24Someone's going to be there.
27:25Someone's going to be there.
27:26Look, look.
27:27Daichi.
27:34Daichi.
27:43Good receive.
27:44Daichi.
27:45He has been playing.
27:46He's the solid rock of the team.
27:48Oh, yes.
27:54Yes.
28:00Hmm.
28:09Yes.
28:11He should be on the other team with their banner.
28:13Hahaha.
28:24Haha.
28:38Again, Jiren.
28:39This is too close for comfort.
28:40Yeah.
28:41For me.
28:42They did win the first set though, so they have some leeway.
28:49Hahaha.
28:54Nice.
28:58Dang, man.
29:12Yeah.
29:13Which team did that?
29:14I think that Karsu.
29:15Hmm.
29:21Yeah.
29:23Yeah, they don't have the best serving.
29:24Yeah.
29:27Jouzenji.
29:30Nice and soft.
29:38Out.
29:48Hmm.
29:50Don't look like they're having too much fun anymore.
29:52Yeah.
30:10Kasu...
30:11Misaki, I think?
30:14Misaki.
30:19Hmm.
30:46Hmm.
30:49Hmm.
31:13Hmm.
31:17Oh.
31:20Hmm.
31:29Preach now.
31:35Ahh.
31:40Hahaha.
31:49Hmm.
31:57That's the title.
32:03Hmm.
32:05AKA.
32:07It's time to get serious.
32:08Look.
32:16Hahaha.
32:17They would love that.
32:20In the most condescending way possible.
32:23Look.
32:26I will not spank you either.
32:33I have a feeling Jouzenji is going to come back and make this a great second set.
32:38Yeah.
32:40Because of her.
32:41Yeah.
32:45And they're going to leave us here.
32:48Alright.
32:52We'll listen to the outro once.
32:53Yeah, yeah, yeah.
33:17Yeah.
33:47Yeah.
34:06Almost looks like a basketball.
34:07Yeah.
34:09Hmm.
34:16Love it.
34:17Alright.
34:19Love it.
34:21What did you take away from this episode, brother?
34:24This was a solid episode.
34:26Similar to Daichi's solid foundation.
34:30Yeah.
34:31That he provides the team.
34:32I feel like this episode did a good job of showing that.
34:35Especially during the moment where it looked like Kageyama hit or set the ball.
34:42I don't know where the mistake came in.
34:44Whether Hinata missed it or Kageyama miscalculated.
34:48But nonetheless it went past Hinata.
34:51But it landed right where Daichi was.
34:53Yeah, yeah, yeah.
34:54Daichi ran up and he was there.
34:56So we saw some of this in the past few episodes too.
35:01These leaders, these older players with more experience are stepping up.
35:07And I love it because every single team needs that solid foundation when things get a bit hairy.
35:14Yeah.
35:15It doesn't seem like Jozenji has that.
35:19I know Misaki provided that at the end but it may be too little too late.
35:24So I think, yeah, this episode did a good job of showing us Daichi.
35:28Man, he's the solid foundation of Karasuno.
35:31Yeah.
35:32And I love that.
35:33What about you?
35:34Yeah, same thing.
35:35I mean, all this time I've been sort of waiting for a character like Daichi to step up.
35:42It almost seemed like Hinata, Kageyama, many of the first and second years were overshadowing him.
35:50They're obviously a bit more talented and younger.
35:54But it seemed like Daichi had just accepted his role on the team.
36:00But now we are finally seeing his role on the team and how important it is in a real match.
36:06And then the only other thing, it was very interesting, Coach taking out Hinata.
36:13Because it was at a time where Kageyama was out as well.
36:16So you have Hinata and Kageyama out.
36:18They're able to sit out and see what's going on, get out there and sort of adjust.
36:26I liked it.
36:28Yeah.
36:29It's rare we see Kageyama and Hinata not on the court at the same time.
36:36That allowed though Suga and I believe his name is Narita?
36:41Yeah, Narita.
36:43Did we meet him?
36:45I do not remember meeting that guy.
36:47Yeah, I wonder if he's a third year.
36:50I think Coach was like, just watch your senpais play.
36:54So I wonder what year he is, maybe the people can let us know.
36:57But it was good to see him get some play time and do very well actually.
37:02And get a bit of confidence.
37:04One last thing about what you said regarding needing Daichi.
37:10Daichi reminds me of a basketball player named Chris Paul.
37:14Oh, a basketball player, huh?
37:17Some people call Chris Paul the point god.
37:21The point god, yeah.
37:23A player who, I don't think he's ever won a championship.
37:28But every single team he's played for, he has improved the team with his leadership and his experience.
37:37And this is why people say you need experience to win playoff games.
37:41I never used to understand that.
37:42I'm like, what are you talking about?
37:44What does experience do?
37:46When you have someone like Anthony Edwards, who's 22, who can dunk over anybody.
37:51What are you talking about experience?
37:53It's this thing you can't see, but it's there.
37:56And Daichi is the experience.
38:00That's what it looks like to have experience on the team.
38:03Good point.
38:04Another NBA player that's popping in my mind right now, given that Boston Celtics are playing the Dallas Mavericks.
38:14Sort of Drew Holiday, but Al Horford.
38:17Just a player who, he can do everything.
38:21He can shoot the three, he can dunk, he can play defense.
38:25He is pivotal to Boston being in the NBA Finals right now.
38:30Right.
38:32Yeah.
38:34Good player parallel.
38:38Al Horford, he's always been a funny player to me.
38:41Just the way he shoots, the way he moves.
38:43He's a big guy, but he seems like such a nice guy.
38:47Alright everybody, thank you so much for watching this episode with us.
38:52They left us with a little bit of a cliffhanger.
38:55I think we're going to find out who wins this match in the next episode.
38:58So come join us.
39:00Please let us know your thoughts about this one.
39:02Leave a comment.
39:04Let us know any terminology that we may have seen in this episode.
39:09What is it when a player is running towards the wall,
39:14and they turn around and jump in mid-air and essentially spike or hit the ball back?
39:21What about when a player puts their foot on the wall?
39:25Yeah.
39:26That's just called the Spider-Man.
39:29Yeah.
39:31What about when a player kicks the ball?
39:33Yeah.
39:35To receive it or to save it.
39:37Is there a term for that?
39:39Let us know. We'll see you next episode everybody.
39:41We love you. Do not forget.
