00:00Proposals for a skyscraper matching the height of the Shard are set to be
00:04approved after minor adjustments are made to the plans. Historic England had
00:09objected to the plans saying the development would seriously degrade the
00:13scale and character of the public realm around it. Under the plans the 74 floor
00:19skyscraper would replace a 28-story vacant tower and the site would include
00:24office and retail space plus a viewing gallery and garden. But would Londoners
00:29like to see more or less skyscrapers in the capital?
00:33Less skyscrapers I don't think it's really helping like we could just build
00:39landscapes instead they're better as they're not taking up so much room in
00:44the sky. I don't I'm not against larger buildings I think we're at London we're
00:50at a point now where so many people want to live in London there's a need for to
00:54build up rather than expanding out into the the greenbelt and all that sort of
00:59thing so I'm definitely in favor of higher density taller buildings as long
01:04as it's well considered and it's well balanced with green spaces and good
01:08public spaces for people. Well you know I think it I mean I suppose I think it's
01:15about right. One of the things I like is being able to look from here a high
01:21window at night and you see the city you know was it the centre of wealth
01:27exploitation capitalism and this huge plantation of light this vast group of
01:35skyscrapers you know and that's quite dramatic I quite like that. I like London
01:41how it is like more it's it looks New York looks too modern London has like
01:47sort of a Victorian feel to it like it's still got old buildings like this brick
01:54buildings they're just it and New York has it looks I think London looks better
