Quick Review of MLP: The Manga

00:00Okay, a quick look at My Little Pony the manga, volume one and two.
00:05Volume one's kind of an introductory issue with a bunch of mini stories for each of the
00:09main six characters.
00:11Volume two is a little bit more of a complicated ongoing story centering on Pinkie Pie.
00:18My view on comedy books and slice of life books is if they're funny, they're worth reading,
00:23no point doing the play by play.
00:24I was chuckling throughout.
00:27They make a lot of references to sort of like internet meme culture about the ponies from,
00:32you know, like 2009 to 2012 when they were all over 4chan.
00:36That'll probably add to it if you were part of that little brony subculture, but I don't
00:40think you had to be part of the brony subculture to enjoy these books.
00:44The writer, David Lumsden, does a very good job of just telling straightforward, comedic
00:49slice of life stories.
00:50He nails the characters' personalities and he's really good at ironic situations and
00:54slapstick comedy.
00:55So it's a riot.
