00:00He's the hype man, isn't he?
00:02He's a leader in that way.
00:03Alexander Izak, for me, is the best striker I've seen at the football club since Alan Shearer.
00:10Right, it's your Geordie Journals.
00:12New platform for us.
00:14Some of you guys might be new to seeing us on your TV screens.
00:18Some of you might be catching us for a second time,
00:21having watched us regularly on YouTube.
00:23The Geordie Journals.
00:24Search it out on YouTube.
00:26I'll introduce myself, as this is a brand new thing for all of us.
00:30We're delighted to be beaming out on Shots TV this evening.
00:35My name's Liam Kennedy.
00:36I'm the editor of Newcastle World and the Shearer's Gazette.
00:41Jordan Cronin, Newcastle United writer for Newcastle World.
00:46And Dominic Scurr.
00:47All right.
00:48I gave you a long name today, didn't I?
00:49Thank you.
00:50Dominic Scurr.
00:50Not a Sunday like.
00:51No.
00:53Newcastle United writer for the Shearer's Gazette.
00:56We all have our day jobs.
00:57Journalists, by trade.
00:59But we do tend to give a bit of analysis on Newcastle United
01:02and push our opinions and knowledge out to the wider audience.
01:06And we will be doing this every single Monday night on Shots TV.
01:11So today we're going to talk a little bit about our players to watch for the season ahead.
01:17For the coming season, yeah.
01:18It's a big season for Newcastle United.
01:20A big season for a lot of players as well.
01:24And we've just selected three players who we think need to deliver
01:29or a big season is coming up for them this coming campaign.
01:34But it's a massive season, isn't it, for Newcastle United?
01:35When you think about it, they had the highs of Champions League football.
01:39They managed to get themselves Eddie Howe's tenure.
01:42They've gone from the doldrums of fighting relegation to slight progress.
01:46Then a huge leap towards Champions League.
01:48Then maybe a couple of minor steps back and that seventh place finish.
01:51And no European football this season.
01:54In general, I think it's a big season.
01:56Never mind the three players to watch that we're all going to individually pick.
01:58I think it's a big season for Eddie Howe as well, don't you?
02:02Yeah, a massive season.
02:03Because whatever way you want to look at last season,
02:07I think in many ways is probably ending in disappointment
02:09because they didn't get European football.
02:11Now, hopefully now they've got to use the lack or no European football to their advantage.
02:16And by doing that, what do you pick as a success next year?
02:20There'll be a lot of people with different opinions out there.
02:23My personal opinion is I think Newcastle need to go and challenge the top four again.
02:26And they need to go and compete for a trophy.
02:28And in the two and a half years now into this new ownership, progress is needed.
02:34Progress wasn't made last season because they didn't,
02:38because they dropped to seventh on the table.
02:39So it's really important now that they push on
02:41and try and reach the levels that they showed in the previous season to go and get top four.
02:46I think that's probably the bare minimum for me to at least try and challenge those top four players.
02:51Really difficult ask. It's easier said than done.
02:54But if you want to be a top club competing for the very best trophies,
02:58competing against the best, you've got to be aiming high.
03:00And I think Newcastle will do that this season.
03:03Right, so we'll come on to that.
03:04I think we'll start with you, Dom, I think.
03:07What were you thinking?
03:08If there was a player this season that either you think has got to step up to the plate,
03:13or you feel looks almost ready to do so, or has a point to prove, who do you think it's going to be?
03:18There's a player I will be keeping a close eye on this coming season,
03:22and who I'm really excited about because we saw glimpses of it last season.
03:27And I think it's almost there for this player to grasp with both hands,
03:31and he could really take off this coming season.
03:34And that's Tino Livermantle, because it's a position where there's a bit of uncertainty.
03:39He was second choice to Kieran Trippier for the majority last season.
03:43Whenever he came in, he did a brilliant job.
03:46He even did a good job at left back, but Newcastle are a bit more well stocked there.
03:50There's uncertainty regarding Kieran Trippier,
03:52whether he'll be at the club or not this coming season.
03:55And I think the opportunity is there for Tino Livermantle to grasp it with both hands
04:00and be a starter for Newcastle United.
04:03And I think he's got the ability.
04:05We've seen during last season, the way he gets forward, his energy,
04:10there was just maybe a bit of question mark over his fitness levels.
04:14He did have that niggling ankle injury.
04:17And I remember being down in Chelsea, actually, just before the March international break,
04:22and there was whispers if he was fit, because of England's right back situation,
04:26that he could have made the England senior squad.
04:28And just because of that injury, he missed out on the under-21s, missed out on...
04:32It was that Brazil friendly, wasn't it? Was it around that time?
04:36Yeah, it was when Anthony Gordon got the call up.
04:38And it was Anthony Gordon's going to get the call up.
04:40Tino Livermantle, don't write him off either,
04:43but he got that ankle injury, and that's ultimately scuppered his plan.
04:46So I think in the next 12 months, Tino Livermantle could,
04:51if he lives up to his potential, could, in 12 months' time,
04:55be an England international and Newcastle's starting first choice right back.
05:00Because I think he's got the potential to do that.
05:02He's 21 years old.
05:04He was Newcastle's best signing last summer, let's be honest.
05:08It was a low bar, but what a player he has the potential to be.
05:13And I know, speaking to Kieran Trippier and what he's said,
05:15he... I mean, Kieran Trippier hypes up any Newcastle player.
05:18He does.
05:19He's a leader in that way.
05:20He is the hype man, isn't he?
05:22He's a leader in that way.
05:22But I think Tino Livermantle could be a big player for Newcastle United
05:28for years to come and potentially step into the international bracket as well.
05:32So I'm going to go for a potential future England international,
05:36and that is Lewis Hall.
05:38The player had a really difficult opening season at Newcastle,
05:42certainly the first three quarters, if you like,
05:45but finished the season really, really strongly.
05:49I think we've seen a lot on those...
05:51I think it was the final 12 games that he played.
05:54He was energetic, really lively.
05:57He got forward really well.
05:59Defensively, I think that was one key issue, I think,
06:01that we've seen with Lewis Hall in these openings at Newcastle
06:04is that he didn't quite know how to play a left-back.
06:07He was a midfielder by trade during his Chelsea academy days
06:13and then broke into the first team as a left-back,
06:15but was still very, very raw.
06:16And I think that probably took Lewis Hall about half a season,
06:21even more, to really get up and running and learn the role.
06:23I think once he came into the team,
06:26I thought he was really, really good,
06:28looked much more defensively accomplished.
06:31And I think the big plus for me is that Lewis Hall,
06:33you see he's a player that wants to get forward,
06:36and I think that's probably his biggest asset.
06:38I wouldn't say he's got bad to pace,
06:39but he's got a real determination to get forward.
06:42Defensively, again, as I've spoken about there,
06:44has issues still to address, but has much improved.
06:47Only 19 years of age as well.
06:49There's a lot I like about Lewis Hall,
06:51and I think he's set down a marker now.
06:53If you had asked me about Lewis Hall six months ago,
06:55I would have said he needed a loan spell this season,
06:57but I think the final period of the season,
06:59I think he's shown that he's almost made the left-back spot.
07:03He's going to face competition next year.
07:06Dan Byrne, if you want to, he's still classed in as a left-back.
07:08You've got Lloyd Kelly as well.
07:11He could class Matt Targer, but of course,
07:13there's probably a different discussion we had about him.
07:15But I think in that bracket of players there,
07:17probably bar sort of Lloyd Kelly,
07:18Lewis Hall has a chance to make that left-back spot.
07:21And maybe the competition will help him,
07:23but I think the opening day against Southampton,
07:26I think Lewis Hall, given what he achieved
07:28in the back end of last season,
07:29probably deserves a start for that opening day.
07:32I like that.
07:33You've both gone down the flanks.
07:34You've gone with young prospects.
07:36I think it's a big season.
07:38I tend to agree with you.
07:39I'm going to go slightly different,
07:40but I think your two picks,
07:42Thilo Liveromento, for me,
07:44was the highlight of the first part of the season,
07:46and Lewis Hall, for me,
07:47was the real flourish at the end of the season.
07:49I didn't expect what I saw from Lewis Hall at the very end.
07:52He looked a lot more accomplished.
07:54He didn't look anywhere near ready for me,
07:55and I think anybody who regularly watches
07:57the Geordie Janos on YouTube
07:58will know my opinions on Lewis Hall.
08:00But for everybody coming to a first on TV,
08:02I don't think he looked like a lad who knew the position.
08:04I don't think he knew how to defend properly,
08:07the positions to be in,
08:08and it's taken him, as you said,
08:09a long time to get there.
08:11But the signs that we saw,
08:12look, there were still rough edges.
08:14I think he got the runaround down at Fulham
08:16off Adama Traore and Alex Iwobi,
08:19but there were plenty of other flashes
08:21where you're like,
08:21look, I think it's eventually getting through
08:23and he's getting the position.
08:25So there's a lot of light there.
08:26He's going to have a challenge to be in the team.
08:28I think Lloyd Kelly, in my opinion,
08:30has been signing to play that position.
08:31But Lewis Hall gives you something totally different
08:34and give you a lot more attacking
08:36than what Lloyd Kelly will.
08:37And on Liveramento, it's the injuries.
08:40I think it's purely the injuries.
08:41I think he would have been in the national this year
08:43had he been able to hold down a place for his injuries,
08:45because every time he got a chance,
08:47you're thinking, right,
08:48establish yourself as the right back.
08:49When Trippio was out, he got another injury.
08:52And the best run that he had
08:53was during that Champions League period
08:55where he played left back week in, week out,
08:57and he never let the team down.
08:59But I think this is a big season for him
09:00to really nail that position down.
09:03My big season.
09:05It's slightly different to you guys.
09:06You've gone down the flank,
09:07Sam goes straight down the middle.
09:09Bissandra Tonali might seem really obvious.
09:11No, that's not my signing.
09:12Yes, and he's talked about the low bar.
09:14He set the low bar.
09:16He was the star stellar signing,
09:17meant to bring a flash of quality
09:20and continental flair to a midfield
09:23that maybe lacked it in certain departments
09:25and brought none of it.
09:26None of it at all,
09:27because, of course, he had a ban
09:29for betting offences,
09:31which has held him back massively.
09:34And I think what I'd like to see
09:36is that there is real star quality
09:37in Bruno Guimaraes,
09:39Alexander Isak,
09:40Anthony Gordon not far behind him.
09:41You've talked a little bit about mental health.
09:43There's some good players in that new casting.
09:44He scored Joe Linton, even.
09:46Tonali, for me, is going to take that step
09:48and be one of the class players.
09:49He was signed for a lot of money
09:52with a lot of big pedigree behind him.
09:53Full Italian international, 20-odd caps,
09:55played in Champions League semifinals
09:58AC Milan, they didn't want to let him go.
10:00So, for me, he's the player, I would say,
10:03that has the most to prove.
10:04I think he owes...
10:05Look, we're not going to go into the
10:08what's and wherefores of gambling addiction
10:10and what happened and what's gone before.
10:11That's all in the past.
10:13Looking forward to the future,
10:14he misses the first two games,
10:15so he isn't going to start the season in position.
10:18It'll be interesting to see who takes up that role,
10:19whether it be Sean Longstaff,
10:21whether it be Elliot Anderson,
10:22whether it be anybody.
10:24Lewis Miley could be any of these players.
10:26Joe Willock, potentially, as well.
10:28There's a chance for any of those players
10:30to step in and take that role,
10:31but Tonali, two games in,
10:32is then going to have the chance
10:33to really put down his marker.
10:35We'll see him for the first time,
10:37you'll have to correct me,
10:37is it the 31st of August?
10:3931st of August would be his return?
10:40Subject to change because
10:42that Tottenham Hotspur game could get moved.
10:46Tottenham Hotspur at home
10:48always has the bright lights that day.
10:50It's got that sparkle about,
10:51that Premier League sparkle.
10:52Whether it's the home team, the away team,
10:54whatever, they always bring goals,
10:55always bring entertainment, flair.
10:57So it'll be brilliant for Tonali to be involved.
10:59I think he'll be electric that day
11:01at St James' Park when he eventually does
11:03get the chance, probably,
11:04to come on from the bench.
11:05But I want to see him lay down a marker.
11:07I want to see a real,
11:09I want to see him lead.
11:10He was classed as a leader at AC Milan,
11:13despite his young age.
11:14He was Italian under-21 captain
11:16up until very recently.
11:17So I want to see him lay down a big marker
11:20and become a class player
11:23in that Newcastle United squad
11:25and maybe that'll take the pressure off
11:28the squad as a whole,
11:29having a player like him
11:30able to take on some of the set-piece responsibilities,
11:33creative responsibilities,
11:35goalscoring, leadership.
11:36I want to see a lot from him
11:37because I think he owes Newcastle United,
11:40who stood by him.
11:40He owes the fans who supported him
11:42through all of this process.
11:44And most importantly,
11:45he owes all of his teammates performances
11:48because they were getting sent out
11:50when they were on their last legs last season
11:52when there was no other players to play
11:53and he was fit and training.
11:54So if I was him,
11:55I'd feel like I would owe Newcastle United
11:57and the fans and the players too.
12:07Welcome back.
12:08The Geordie Journals are back on your screens.
12:10Right, you heard our players to watch
12:14for the season ahead in that first half of the programme.
12:17Now we're going to talk about two players
12:18that you've already watched
12:20and you know are top class.
12:22But there has been some sort of concerns
12:24about future to level in different degrees.
12:28And that's Alexander Isak,
12:29Newcastle United's Swedish striker,
12:32one of the best on the planet.
12:34And Bruno Guimaraes,
12:35who regular watchers of Geordie Journals
12:37on YouTube will know,
12:38I've got a little bit of a love affair with him.
12:41I do love Bruno.
12:42I think a lot of people do.
12:44Yeah, yeah, I don't think I'm alone in that.
12:46And that's probably journalist hat off,
12:48supporter hat on there.
12:49I think I happened quite a lot,
12:51even in the press box sometimes.
12:54Jordan, thoughts on,
12:55I suppose the more topical of the two
12:57I would say this week is probably Alexander Isak.
13:00Considering there was all that talk last week
13:03with regards Chelsea interest,
13:06what do you make of it?
13:07Yeah, I laughed at it to be honest.
13:10Chelsea have got no chance of saying Alexander Isak.
13:14I don't think many clubs in world football
13:17have a chance of saying Alexander Isak.
13:20Why?
13:21Because his price tag is astronomical
13:24and there isn't enough money being spent
13:26in world football at this moment
13:28to go and sign a player like Alexander Isak.
13:31For me, he is worth more to Newcastle
13:34than any money really.
13:36I would probably say he was priceless,
13:38to be honest.
13:39Just a world-class footballer
13:43and I wouldn't swap him for anyone.
13:46Even when he had his,
13:47because he has his injury troubles.
13:48I think that's probably one side
13:49that we've maybe overlooked a little bit.
13:51I think when he first arrived
13:53for that £63 million club record,
13:56I think it was a thigh injury that he had
13:58that ruled him out for pretty much half a season.
14:01Finished that season really strong,
14:03linking up with Callum Wilson
14:04or rotating between Callum Wilson.
14:06And then last season,
14:08although he missed, I think it was 10 games
14:10with an injury again,
14:13he scored 25 goals.
14:15His goal record, I think he's averaging
14:17a goal just over every two games.
14:20It's an incredible record.
14:23You think about past strikers,
14:25Newcastle have had some decent strikes
14:27since Alan Shearer.
14:28I'll put Denver Bar, for example.
14:31It probably, you know,
14:32there's good spells for it with Lloyd Remy.
14:35Partly a CCA to some extent.
14:37Six months.
14:38Yeah, but-
14:39That has been good CCA.
14:40That even threw in like-
14:42Callum Wilson?
14:43Callum Wilson.
14:44Oh yeah.
14:44There was a season of like,
14:46I know it was Lloyd Bar,
14:47but Salomon Rondon for that season
14:49was excellent.
14:50This is another level.
14:51Yeah, that's the point I was getting onto.
14:53Alexander Isak wipes the floor
14:55with all those players.
14:56And for me, he's the best striker
14:59I've seen at the Football Club
15:00since Alan Shearer.
15:03And when you find a player like that,
15:05the strikers are really, really hard to find.
15:07And when you find a striker
15:08of Alexander Isak's quality,
15:09you do everything to keep hold of him.
15:11And Newcastle, for me,
15:13will not sell Alexander Isak
15:14under any circumstances.
15:16There's no thing in the world
15:17that could buy Isak out of Newcastle.
15:19I think he's priceless.
15:21And yeah, I don't think he goes anywhere
15:25this season, at least.
15:26I think his future will be decided
15:28by what Newcastle do.
15:30The ambition, which I spoke about
15:31earlier in the video.
15:32As long as Newcastle keep progressing,
15:33challenging for Europe,
15:34trying to win trophies,
15:36pretty sure Alexander Isak
15:37and the likes of Ibrunas,
15:38which will come on,
15:39will want to stay.
15:39And that's why I think it's really important
15:40that Newcastle do push on
15:42as a Football Club
15:42to keep these world-class talents
15:44that they currently have.
15:45Eddie Howe even said it,
15:46he wouldn't swap Alexander Isak
15:48for any other striker in world football.
15:50And when you look at the strikers
15:53that are available
15:53in terms of number nines
15:55or even slightly deeper roles,
15:57number tens and things like that,
15:59I think he is right, right up there
16:03with the very best.
16:04OK, there's the injury issues he's had,
16:07but if he's playing,
16:08he could get in almost any team in the world,
16:11I think.
16:12He doesn't get in Man City's team.
16:14Yes, because of the way Erling Haaland played.
16:16Erling Haaland, like I've said,
16:18if you check this out on YouTube,
16:20me and Liam spoke about this the other day,
16:21the importance of Alexander Isak to Newcastle,
16:23and you brought up the Erling Haaland point.
16:26He is a goal-scoring machine, Erling Haaland.
16:29He doesn't get in Man City's team,
16:31Alexander Isak,
16:32but I wouldn't say Erling Haaland
16:33necessarily gets in Newcastle's team
16:36of Alexander Isak,
16:37just because of the way he plays.
16:38I disagree.
16:40I think Erling Haaland
16:42doesn't fit Manchester City properly.
16:44Right.
16:45I think he was brilliant at Dortmund
16:46when he played on the shoulder
16:47and ran in behind.
16:49Plays at Manchester City
16:50with 11 men in front of him.
16:52You know, he's feeding off scraps.
16:54I think if you put Alexander Isak
16:55in Manchester City's team,
16:56he would find some of the same struggles,
16:59because he kind of wants to drop in
17:00and spaces to run out of people.
17:02I think it's actually a problem.
17:04Manchester City could put any striker in there
17:06and they would find it tough.
17:07So I think, put Haaland in another team,
17:10I think he'd possibly score more goals.
17:12You reckon?
17:12I do.
17:13It's a mad opinion,
17:14but I actually think he would, yeah.
17:16But I can't disagree with you.
17:18I think he's, Alexander Isak's
17:20potentially in the top two strikers on the planet.
17:23I don't think there's many like him.
17:26And I think he's an amazing player
17:28that would send all the wrong messages
17:29when you're casting it,
17:30even to consider letting him go.
17:32We've talked about a project
17:33at this football club
17:34since the autumn of 2001,
17:36when it was taken over
17:37by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia.
17:402021, we've been talking about the project.
17:43The project has always been progressive,
17:45upwardly mobile.
17:46And although sometimes upwardly mobile football clubs
17:50can let footballers go to rebuild elsewhere,
17:54I've never understood the idea
17:56of taking the foundations
17:58from underneath the building
17:59when you're trying to put it up.
18:01I think it brings it down.
18:04I just don't see Isak or Bruno Guimaraes
18:07being saleable assets at the moment.
18:09And which kind of sort of takes us straight on
18:12to the Bruno thing, in my opinion.
18:15And that's another big talking point
18:17of the summer at Newcastle United
18:19has been, will he only?
18:20Is Bruno Guimaraes going to stay?
18:22Is he not going to stay?
18:23And the difference between the Isak situation
18:25and Guimaraes situation,
18:26which I'm sure all you guys out there
18:28will know already,
18:29if you're Newcastle United fans,
18:31is that the problem was,
18:32it was never in the club's hands.
18:34Where any football club could be crawly
18:39or Manchester City or Real Madrid
18:42or scunthorpe United.
18:43If anybody came in with a hundred million pound,
18:45Bruno Guimaraes had the option to speak to them.
18:47And it was up to him really,
18:49whether he wanted to speak to them.
18:50So that's where it kind of gets greyed a little bit.
18:54There's probably only two or three clubs,
18:56four, five clubs max
18:57that he would consider speaking to.
19:00Look, we're a Manchester City
19:01to have put down the a hundred million pound
19:04or report a hundred million pound
19:05that would have triggered the release clause.
19:07Then I can imagine he would have wanted to speak to them.
19:11Were it to be somebody further down the food chain,
19:14I don't think a lot of clubs could have afforded him.
19:16That's probably the biggest thing,
19:18but it would have been a Bruno Guimaraes decision
19:21whether he then went and spoke to these clubs.
19:22Real Madrid would have definitely been one.
19:24I think Manchester City would have been one.
19:26Liverpool and Arsenal,
19:27I'm not really certain
19:29whether that would have been a talking point.
19:31It potentially could have been,
19:32but then other giants like Barcelona,
19:34who I've been told on numerous occasions
19:37over the last three years
19:38since Nick Cassidy signed him,
19:39they love Bruno Guimaraes.
19:43A couple of 10 pence mix-ups
19:44and 17 players in a player trade
19:47isn't going to solve any PSR
19:50or issues that anybody might have.
19:54So I think Bruno Guimaraes was a different situation.
19:59He said a lot of things at this football club,
20:01which kind of always made me think,
20:05if you go,
20:05I don't think it'll be looked upon very well.
20:08He's done a lot of the passionate thing,
20:10the stuff that we love,
20:10the ingratiating yourself,
20:12the really getting stuck into it,
20:13and he cast an eight, a kiss and a badge,
20:15and stay, and he's done all of that.
20:17Were he then to jump ship
20:18on the first possible opportunity,
20:19would not have reflected very well on him,
20:21despite his legendary status as he's built up already.
20:24I think if you're going to do that
20:26and it's in your mind to do that at some point,
20:29you never do any of that stuff.
20:30So I'd always had that faith
20:32that he seems like an honest guy
20:33and he wants to become a hero in Newcastle United.
20:36He didn't just want to come and use it as a stepping stone.
20:38He wanted to achieve things here.
20:40Now that's also caveated by the fact
20:42that if he can't achieve those things,
20:44if Newcastle United have another season
20:45where they don't live up their expectation,
20:47I don't think anybody would now complain if he did leave
20:49because he's given it another year.
20:51If he'd gone now,
20:53then I think it would have come with some criticism.
20:55Running at the first sign of trouble, isn't it?
20:57Which you never want to see.
20:59And he hasn't done that really.
21:00He hasn't shown any signs that he wants to do that.
21:03Now it's a long summer.
21:04We've got a lot of time before the transfer window closes.
21:07Newcastle United could be tested in that period.
21:09We don't know yet.
21:10However, he hasn't agitated
21:14and that's the best possible sign.
21:16If you add that to the history that he's shown,
21:19like I say, the passion for the club,
21:22the wanting to write himself in the history books,
21:24that's quoting him, not anybody talking around him.
21:27He said that himself.
21:28It makes us think that he's going to be
21:30in Newcastle United for a little while longer.
21:32He's really ingrained himself to life in the North East.
21:35He refers to both his kids as Geordies that were born here.
21:37His mum and dad are over here all the time.
21:40His wife's obviously familiarised with the area as well.
21:44I think he's really taken into the lifestyle of being up here,
21:49being an icon really, which is what he is.
21:51And like you say, from the moment he's signed,
21:54he's speaking about Champions League,
21:55wanting to win something.
21:56And that message has always been consistent from Bruno.
21:59And I think you're right.
22:01There's probably a lifespan to that message.
22:05And I think maybe there's another 12 months pushing your luck,
22:09maybe two years before he goes,
22:11right, I need to actually fulfil my potential
22:15as an individual, as a footballer,
22:17which is to play Champions League every season to win trophies.
22:20Because so far, the only trophies he's really won
22:23have been in South America.
22:24So he needs to be winning something with Newcastle United
22:28or really pushing towards the top end of the Premier League
22:31season after season, not just one-off fleeting things.
22:35Turns 27 next year, doesn't he?
22:36Yeah.
22:37Which, it's not old.
22:39Because I'm 27, I don't think I'm old.
22:41But in terms of a football career,
22:43you probably do, when you're at that age,
22:44look to, if you've got ambitions, to win trophies
22:47and the club you're at isn't doing it.
22:48And you probably do look to maybe move on.
22:50But I think Bruno this season,
22:52you've mentioned that he's ingrained himself in Newcastle United.
22:55Now, Newcastle have missed out on Europe this year.
22:57I think the type of player that he is,
23:00the type of character that he is,
23:01I think he'll be determined to try and get this club
23:03back into Europe.
23:04And whether that's Champions League or below that,
23:07I just think the type of player that he is,
23:10he loves the club.
23:11When he speaks, I believe him.
23:12So I think there's someone, look,
23:15someone might call him in for a bit.
23:16But for me, Newcastle, the future is,
23:19Newcastle have got his future in their hands.
23:22Their wealth and their right to say no.
23:23And I do think they'll do that.
23:24Bruno will give them a year
23:25and then we'll see what happens next year.
23:27But as I mentioned,
23:29these players, their futures will be controlled
23:31by what Newcastle achieve on the pitch.
23:33And that's it.
