02:22Bloody Hand A Quiet Place
02:24As a movie with little dialogue, A Quiet Place is largely carried by its haunting visuals

02:30With his wife going into labor, his kids missing, and a monster loose, Lee still manages to
02:35remain focused as he investigates the darkly lit house.
02:39It appears all hope is lost as he follows a trail of bloody footprints upstairs and
02:43uncovers an empty bathtub with more traces of blood.
02:47As the grief-stricken Lee lets his defenses down, both he and the audience are caught
02:51off guard when a bloody hand slams on the shower door.
02:58We're all able to let out a sigh of relief as it's revealed that Evelyn and her newborn

03:05The Monsters Take Manhattan A Quiet Place Day One
03:12After the second film's opening flashback, we weren't sure if we needed a prequel further
03:16exploring the invasion's first day.
03:18Shifting the action to New York City provides a whole new perspective, however.
03:22New York is one of the biggest, most populated, and noisiest places on Earth.
03:26As such, this sequence ups the scale along with the tension, calling real-world tragedies
03:31like 9-11 to mind.
03:33In the blink of an eye, the metropolis surrounding Lupita Nyong'o's Sam blows up in her face.
03:39Of course, this is just one area of New York, with the military soon demolishing bridges
03:43to prevent the attacking monsters from spreading.
03:50To get off the island alive, you have to be as quiet as a mouse, even if you're a cat.

04:03Crying Baby A Quiet Place The birth of Lee and Evelyn's son is one
04:06of the few joyous moments in the film.
04:09This happy occasion also creates some obvious problems, though, as newborns have a tendency
04:13to cry.
04:20There's no time to waste as Lee rushes both his exhausted wife and baby to a soundproof
04:25basement.
04:26Although they make it underground just before the prowling creature catches them, the paranoia
04:30doesn't end there.
04:32Lee is forced to place the little one in an insulated coffin with an oxygen mask to keep
04:37him breathing.
04:38With so much that could potentially go wrong, this scene will most certainly get under your
04:42skin whether you're a protective parent or simply claustrophobic.

04:52Marina Attack A Quiet Place Part 2
04:55The creatures might be the most lethal threat, but they aren't the only ones to be cautious
05:00of.
05:01While they're lurking at the dock, Reagan and Emmett are ambushed by a silent yet deadly
05:04group of humans, including a creepy little girl.
05:10We never learn who these people were before the invasion, but there's zero humanity in
05:15the ringleader's eyes.
05:17Robbing strangers for supplies is one thing, although based on how he looks at Reagan,
05:21the ringleader is prepared to do much worse.
05:24To stop one enemy, Emmett draws out another.
05:27It's a risky move that seals the ringleader's fate, yet nearly leaves Emmett choking in
05:32the water.
05:36Just when it looks like a scene from Jaws will be re-enacted, Emmett exposes one of
05:40the monster's weaknesses.

05:50Marcus Finds Emmett's Wife A Quiet Place Part 2
05:54Emmett was a family man like Lee before the invasion left him alone.
05:59Upon allying with his old friends the Abbotts, Emmett is reluctant to discuss his tragedy
06:03in detail.
06:04Poor Marcus is given a first-hand look at the psychological scars Emmett has been living
06:09with, however.
06:10Left alone in the hideout with only his newborn sibling, Marcus decides to investigate the
06:15area.
06:16Looking around, Marcus finds photos and drawings of Emmett's young son.
06:20While that's unsettling enough, the true trauma resides behind a curtain.
06:24Pulling it back, Marcus uncovers the rotting body of Emmett's wife in a bed.
06:29We imagine that Emmett wanted to give his wife a peaceful resting place, but there's
06:33no comfort to be found here.
06:40Number 13.
06:41Truck Attack – A Quiet Place After losing one child, Lee refuses to watch
06:46any of his other family members die.
06:48This builds to a terrifying, not to mention tragic scene in which a monster tracks down
06:53Reagan and Marcus inside a truck, influencing Lee to make the ultimate sacrifice.
06:58Before shifting the creature's attention away from his children, Lee signs his final,
07:02heartfelt words to Reagan.
07:03The audience is left completely speechless as Lee lets out a brave scream and the beast
07:08charges after him.
07:21What makes Lee's death especially gut-wrenching is that it could've been avoided had Reagan
07:25known at the time that her cochlear implant was the key to fending off these creatures.
07:30Number 12.
07:31Running Out of Air – A Quiet Place Part 2
07:34Fleeing from a creature, Marcus seals himself and his little sibling in a compartment.
07:38It seems like the ideal hiding place, although there are two drawbacks.
07:43The handle can accidentally lock people inside, and oxygen is limited.
07:47It isn't until they start running out of air that Marcus realizes they're trapped.
07:57Evelyn isn't far away, but before she can save her children, she has to lure away a
08:01roaming monster.
08:03While Evelyn engulfs the creature in flames, it's the sprinkler system that allows her
08:07to sneak by.
08:09Every breath Marcus and the baby take could be their last, leaving the audience breathless
08:13until Evelyn arrives just in time.
08:16Even then, the monster remains outside.
08:19The Abbotts are more careful with the door this time, though.
08:25Number 11.
08:26Screaming Old Man – A Quiet Place
08:35As cautious as the Abbott family is, there are some unforeseen circumstances that can't
08:39be prepared for.
08:40Making their way through the woods, Lee and Marcus encounter an old man standing over
08:44his wife's corpse.
08:46Part of what makes this moment so jarring is that these characters come out of nowhere,
08:50and we never learn their backstory.
08:52The shocked, devastated look on the old man's face tells us everything we need to know,
08:56however.
08:57Unable to keep it together, he lets out a scream while Lee and Marcus run for their
09:01lives.
09:07You can tell from the expression on the old man's face that he's accepted his fate,
09:10as a creature ambushes him from behind.
09:17Number 10.
09:18Radio Station – A Quiet Place Part II
09:21Whereas the first film's ending seemed to wrap up everything, Part II revealed that
09:25there was still a long road ahead.
09:27Sure, the Abbotts now know how to defeat the monsters, but how to get the word out?
09:32The fate of the world depends on Reagan and Emmett reaching a radio station on a remote
09:36island.
09:37Even once inside, the final stretch isn't any less stressful.
09:46One wrong step means certain death.
09:49Emmett is ready to sacrifice himself for Reagan, but she isn't about to watch another father
09:54figure die.
09:55Armed with her cochlear implant and a pipe, Reagan goes live, slaying the beast.
10:07Reagan doesn't realize it, but her actions save her family from a close call, as Marcus
10:11stands up to another creature.
10:19Number 9.
10:20Bow at the Bridge – A Quiet Place
10:23Reagan attempts to bring a little fun into her four-year-old brother's life by giving
10:26him a toy rocket early on.
10:28She didn't count on Bow taking batteries from the store, though.
10:31Our hearts sank and our spines stiffened, as Bow obviously activates the noisy toy on
10:36a bridge.
10:45Lee races after his son, but the creature lurking in the trees is faster.
10:50This not only serves as a brilliant introduction to the monsters, it also establishes up front
10:55that the film is not afraid to kill off children.
10:58Bow's demise sticks with the audience for the rest of the movie, constantly reminding
11:02us that these characters could be torn to shreds at the drop of a pin.
11:09Number 8.
11:10A Door and a Hard Place – A Quiet Place Day One
11:13Even in a city as vast as New York, it can feel like there's nowhere to run and nowhere
11:18to hide.
11:19After teaming up with a stranger named Eric, Sam finds herself being chased by monsters
11:23yet again.
11:26Proving craftier than he looks, Eric distracts at least one alien by chucking an object through
11:31a car window.
11:36Just when it appears that Sam and Eric have given them the slip, they find themselves
11:40caught in a revolving door with a briefcase blocking their way.
11:43The two can't go back, but pushing forward is sure to spark unwanted attention.
11:48Eric ventures through and unfortunately, the briefcase makes a thud even louder than expected.
12:00Not as loud as the aliens crashing through the glass ceiling, however.
12:04Number 7.
12:05Flooded Basement – A Quiet Place When Evelyn and her newborn seek refuge in
12:09the basement, it's panic-inducing to say the least.
12:12The filmmakers only pile on to the stressful situation when Evelyn wakes up to discover
12:16the basement flooding.
12:18We feel all of Evelyn's dread as a stream of water overflows around her infant son's
12:23cradle with a creature scavenging in the background.
12:26The red lighting just adds to the trauma we're experiencing.
12:29Carefully retrieving the baby, Evelyn restrains herself from screaming as the creature emerges
12:35out of the water right in front of her.
12:37Fortunately, Evelyn is able to use the environment to her advantage as she hides behind the pouring
12:42water, blocking out her baby's cries.
12:54Number 6.
12:55Island Attack – A Quiet Place Part 2 For the first time in perhaps the entire franchise,
13:01at least two main characters appear safe.
13:04Regan and Emmett have made it to an island where the community welcomes them.
13:07After a brief period, they return to normalcy without a monster in sight.
13:12Since the monsters can't swim, the only way one could get to the island is if it hitched
13:16a ride on a boat.
13:17Well, that's exactly what happens.
13:20Although, to be honest, we didn't even consider that possibility until the attack was already
13:24underway.
13:29The false sense of security makes the whiplash all the more jolting.
13:37With no time to waste, Regan and Emmett drive away with an island inhabitant, who sadly
13:41won't live to see any sequels.
13:46Maybe a prequel though.
13:48Number 5.
13:49Drowning in Silo – A Quiet Place What's more horrifying than drowning in
13:55water?
13:56How about drowning in a grain silo?
13:58In this ingeniously shot sequence, Marcus plummets down a silo's hatch door and Regan
14:03dives in after him.
14:04Grain entrapment is more common than you may think, which makes the scene more relatable
14:08and therefore more alarming.
14:11Both children almost suffocate as they sink into the sea of corn.
14:15While the siblings pull through together, their problems are just getting started.
14:21The noise attracts one of the monsters, which comes crashing into the silo.
14:26Regan inadvertently chases it off by changing the frequency on her implant, but the monster
14:31leaves a giant hole in the silo and plenty of emotional scars.
14:44Number 4.
14:45The Opening – A Quiet Place From its opening scene, A Quiet Place submerges
14:49the viewer into an unrelenting state of anxiety.
14:52That's primarily because it drops us in the middle of a seemingly abandoned town, where
14:56all hell apparently broke loose.
14:59A wall of missing persons posters informs us that this place has been riddled with death
15:03and tragedy.
15:04From there, we're introduced to the few lucky survivors as they search for supplies.
15:08It's also established that Regan is deaf as we shift between her perspective and her brothers,
15:13exemplifying this movie's remarkable use of sound and sound editing.
15:23Although we don't entirely know what's happening yet, the foreboding atmosphere is enough to
15:27make us shudder in our seats.
15:30Number 3.
15:31The Train – A Quiet Place Part 2 Striking out on her own, Regan follows railroad
15:36tracks and a trail of bloody shoes to a derailed train that never reached its final destination.
15:41The sight of dead passengers might have startled Regan about 474 days ago.
15:46At this point, though, little phases Regan outside of a sudden monster attack.
15:51That said, it isn't long until Regan is subjected to one of the most effective jump
15:55scares in the series.
16:01Just when it appears Regan can take a breather, a creature closes in with her pressed against
16:05a door.
16:14Regan protects herself with a sneaker and a shotgun, but Emmett delivers the blow that
16:18saves her.
16:19Although Regan has come a long way, it becomes clear that stopping the apocalypse is a too
16:24person job.
16:26Minimum.
16:27Number 2.
16:28The Bear Trap – A Quiet Place Part 2 Picking up where the first film left off,
16:32Part 2 establishes up front that it won't be smooth sailing moving forward.
16:36Heading into the unknown, the Abbotts try to be meticulous with every movement.
16:41Yet Evelyn fails to notice a wire that triggers a trap.
16:49Once those bottles rattle, a monster is bound to follow.
16:53Marcus hits another trap, this one far more painful.
16:57Every noise in this series ignites dread, although the sound of the bear trap closing
17:01on Marcus' foot makes us want to scream in agony with him.
17:05All the while, a stranger with a sniper watches.
17:08The question isn't whether he'll shoot, it's whether he'll come to their aid.
17:12Thankfully, Emmett leads them to safety with a monster not far behind.

17:43Evelyn goes into labor early while alone at the house, which would be distressing even
17:48without any deadly monsters about.
17:50It's impossible not to cringe as Evelyn steps on an exposed nail, causing her to drop a
17:56fragile picture frame.
18:00She summons the strength to signal her family, but a creature has already arrived at the
18:05house.
18:09Words cannot describe just how petrifying it is watching Evelyn give birth in a bathtub
18:14while Marcus sets off fireworks far away as a distraction.
18:18We'll just let the intense imagery speak for itself.
