00:00 Mr. Easton, what is this?
00:02 I don't understand!
00:04 It's a game.
00:06 Welcome to WatchMojo.
00:08 And today we're counting down our picks for the top 10 scariest scenes in Saw.
00:12 No, it's not creepy at all.
00:14 For this list, we'll be looking at the moments in this long-running horror franchise that made us scream the most.
00:20 Keep in mind, there will be spoilers.
00:22 Are there any scenes we missed?
00:24 Let us know down in the comments.
00:28 10. Glass Coffin - Saw V
00:32 The movie opens with Agent Strahm inexplicably surviving a trap not meant to be beaten.
00:37 So the last thing we'd expect is our main protagonist to bite it by the film's conclusion.
00:42 Oh, how wrong we are.
00:44 Hello, Agent Strahm.
00:46 If you are hearing this, then you have once again found what you are looking for.
00:51 Or so you think.
00:53 At this point, Strahm has correctly deduced that Detective Hoffman is acting as the new Jigsaw.
00:58 He follows Hoffman to the nerve gas house, where he eventually finds a coffin filled with glass shards and a tape instructing him to climb inside.
01:07 The only way to survive this room is by entering the glass box before you.
01:12 Pain will be incurred, but you have a chance of survival.
01:17 Strahm and Hoffman have a brief struggle, which ends with the former trapping the latter in the coffin.
01:23 But as Strahm soon learns, the coffin is the only safe place when the walls start closing in.
01:29 I ask you, Special Agent Strahm, have you learned enough to trust me?
01:35 Strahm is crushed, making us wince in horror.
01:39 9. Xavier's Rampage - Saw II
01:44 Open the door, come on!
01:45 What do we do?
01:46 Xavier Chavez may be a victim in Jigsaw's sadistic game, but he's nothing short of unfeeling.
01:52 He constantly antagonizes the other players, and will step on anyone to find an antidote to the nerve gas.
01:59 Upon realizing the code to the safe is partially written on the backs of everyone's necks, Xavier is more interested in doing it himself than working as a team.
02:08 Now, turn around.
02:11 What?
02:12 Turn around.
02:15 He mercilessly executes Jonas after an altercation, and coldly leaves Addison to die when she's stuck in a trap.
02:22 Going full horror movie villain, Xavier pursues Amanda and Daniel into the bowels of the house.
02:28 All I want is the number on the back of his neck.
02:31 And then you'll see.
02:34 You still don't know your own number.
02:38 How are you going to get it if I don't tell you?
02:40 Realizing he can't read his own number, Xavier needlessly slices it off from the back of his neck before Daniel quits playing possum and ends him.
02:49 Number 8. Shotgun Carousel. Saw VI.
02:54 VI, ride the carousel.
02:59 But only two can get off.
03:01 The conceit of this trap is simple.
03:03 Six people are strapped to a rotating carousel, and an outside observer can endure pain and save two from a shotgun.
03:11 But which two do you pick?
03:13 You can live, or you will die. Your decisions symbolized by the blood on your hands.
03:20 William comes across six of his employees strapped to the device.
03:23 Once the rules are read aloud, the victims can do nothing but make their cases and hope William's impossible choices go in their favor.
03:31 The fact that two-thirds are doomed no matter what makes this an especially hair-raising trap.
03:37 And while banal, a point-blank shotgun blast to the chest is still a brutal way to go.
03:42 Ultimately, Emily and Shelby are able to convince William of their importance to their families, while the others are deemed more expendable.
03:50 Look at me! When you're killing me, you look at me!
03:54 Number 7. Jigsaw's Lair. Saw VI.
03:58 While the franchise formula is well-established today, we had no idea what to expect going into the first film.
04:05 So when detectives Tapp and Singh track down Jigsaw's lair, anything goes.
04:10 Awake already, Jeff? I need more powerful tranquilizers next time. Don't cry. I've given your life a purpose.
04:19 The hideout already oozes creep factor, but things ratchet up to 11 when a prospective victim is discovered and Jigsaw arrives back on the scene.
04:29 Now you'll make a choice. In 20 seconds, the life of this man will be ended.
04:34 Shut up! We're getting out of here! What did you do? Turn it off!
04:36 Jigsaw activates a drill trap, forcing Singh to shoot in lieu of cycling through an endless ring of keys.
04:43 But Jigsaw escapes when he takes a blade to a distracted Tapp's throat.
04:48 Sick from the disease eating away at me inside. Sick of people who don't appreciate their blessings. Sick of those who scoff at the suffering of others.
04:57 I'm sick of it all!
05:01 Tapp's injury is non-lethal, but Singh isn't so lucky when he pursues Jigsaw down a hallway and sets off a string of shotguns.
05:09 For a dying man, Jigsaw is surprisingly elusive.
05:13 Number 6. Angel Trap. Saw III.
05:17 Hello, Carrie. I want to play a game.
05:21 The cops going after Jigsaw often get unfairly punished merely for doing their jobs.
05:27 But arguably, no one gets the shorter end of the stick than Detective Allison Carrie.
05:32 Already at the end of her rope, Carrie is kidnapped in her home and placed in a trap by Jigsaw accomplice Amanda Young, who doesn't exactly play fair.
05:41 You will have one minute to find a way out. At the end of that minute, you should know better than anyone what happens then.
05:50 Carrie's ribcage is hooked up to a series of brackets that will tear her open if she doesn't retrieve a key.
05:57 Make your choice.
05:58 The key sits at the bottom of a jar of acid, forcing Carrie to scald her hand in the process.
06:07 However, the key doesn't free her as advertised, forcing her to accept her fate as the victim of an unwinnable game.
06:14 Number 5. Zep's Home Invasion. Saw.
06:19 Mommy?
06:20 What is it, sweetie?
06:22 There's a man in my room.
06:24 Hospital orderly Zep Hendel already has a reputation for being a little off.
06:29 But he goes full-on psycho when he infiltrates the home of Dr. Lawrence Gordon and terrorizes his family.
06:35 Good night, little girl.
06:37 Granted, we don't know Zep is merely another victim in Jigsaw's game at this point.
06:47 But that doesn't stop him from embracing his role and employing a handful of cruel intimidation tactics.
06:53 Dr. Gordon's time is up. Now I've got to do what I've got to do.
06:59 And I'm afraid it has to be you that tells him he failed.
07:05 Gordon's wife and daughter are repeatedly traumatized over the course of the film.
07:09 But thankfully, Allison is able to surreptitiously free herself and take control of the situation long enough for Detective Tapp to arrive on the scene.
07:18 Zep may not be the actual antagonist of the film, but he proves more than terrifying.
07:23 Number 4. The Rack. Saw 3.
07:27 Hello, Jeff. If you are listening to this, that means that the confrontation you so long dreamed of is finally unfolding.
07:37 Easily one of the most iconic traps in the series, The Rack is also notable for being one of the most brutal.
07:43 It sees medical student Timothy Young strapped to a device that will gradually twist each of his limbs past their breaking point before finishing off with his neck.
07:52 Timothy is entirely at the mercy of Jeff Denlon, a man whose son Timothy killed in a drunk driving accident.
07:58 Jeff is too emotionally bereft to do anything, forcing us to watch as Timothy's arms and legs are distorted.
08:04 When finally Jeff does act, he inadvertently kills another victim and is too late to save Timothy.
08:10 It's easily one of the darkest moments in arguably the franchise's darkest movie.
08:15 Number 3. Adam's Abduction. Saw.
08:23 Jigsaw doesn't generally kill his victims directly, so the frights don't often come in a conventional manner.
08:30 But the various abduction scenes are almost always terrifying.
08:34 A couple others that come to mind are officer Daniel Riggs from Saw 4.
08:42 Then there's Dr. Gordons from the first film.
08:45 If there's any single abduction that gave us all nightmares though, it was the one of photographer Adam Stanheight.
08:58 When Adam wakes up in his apartment, he sees all the lights are out and upon hearing a strange noise, realizes there's an intruder.
09:06 He has to rely on the flash from his camera to periodically see, but by the time he gets a glimpse of old pig mask, it's too late.
09:14 Number 2. Reverse Bear Trap. Varius.
09:28 "Hello Amanda. You don't know me, but I know you. I want to play a game."
09:36 This trap is easily the franchise's quintessential torture tool.
09:40 And whenever it appears, you can be sure it'll invoke a few thrills.
09:44 "You better hurry up. Live or die. Make your choice."
09:50 It's first appearance comes in the original film as Jigsaw's future protege Amanda Young is forced to find a key in a man's stomach to prevent the device from rearranging her face.
10:00 While Amanda is able to evade the literal jaws of death, that doesn't make the scene any less effective.
10:06 Nor does it with Mark Hoffman in Saw 6, as he survives Jill's attempt on his life by the skin of his cheek.
10:12 Hoffman repays the favor in the subsequent film becoming the one-man army to capture Jill.
10:17 And this time, we see the realization of the trap in all its gory glory.
10:22 "Game over."

10:38 Number 1. Jigsaw Revealed. Saw.
10:43 Saw was destined to become an institution in the horror genre no matter what.
10:47 But it's unclear if the first film would have reached that legendary status without that gobsmacker of a twist ending.
10:54 "No! Wait! No! Oh my God! Lawrence!"
10:58 After Gordon amputates his foot and Adam kills Zep, it seems like things might end on an optimistic note as Gordon crawls away to find help.
11:06 But everything changes when the supposed body in the middle of the room begins to rise.
11:11 It turns out that the player supposedly deceased cellmate is actually Jigsaw.
11:16 "He's a very interesting person. His name is John. He has an inoperable frontal lobe tumor."
11:21 Before Adam can even process what's going on, Jigsaw shambles over to the exit and shuts the door, leaving Adam screaming and us along with him.
11:31 "Ahhhhhh!"
11:34 "Game over."
