00:00Off-topic question.
00:01Yeah, go ahead.
00:02Prosecutors working with Special Counsel Jack Smith have said in court that a trial for
00:08former President Trump this fall would not violate the Justice Department's 90-day rule
00:12around elections.
00:13Would you, as the Attorney General, be comfortable with putting Trump as the Republican nominee
00:17on trial?
00:18Look, I'm not going to talk about a pending case other than to say that the prosecutors
00:23brought both of the cases almost a year ago.
00:26They asked for trials in December of last year and January of this year.
00:31Other than that, I'm not going to talk about a case that's pending.
00:33Great.
00:34Last question.
00:35Evan.
00:36Attorney General, as you may have heard, there's a debate tonight in Atlanta between President
00:41Biden and the former president.
00:43And we expect, given the last few days, that we're going to hear a lot about political
00:48persecutions and prosecutions of the former president.
00:52What can you tell the public about the efforts that you've made that you believe would show
00:59that there hasn't been a political persecution of the former president?
01:03The idea that politics infects our prosecutions, nothing could be further from the truth.
01:08We have one rule.
01:09We follow the facts and we follow the law, and we make the appropriate decisions.
01:14That's what the special counsels have done, and that's what the Justice Department has
01:18always done.
01:19Thank you, everyone.
01:20Thanks, everybody.
01:22Thank you.
