00:00A Palestinian man and his Malaysian family were deported by Brazilian authorities after

00:07a tip-off from the U.S. that the man was a Hamas operative.

00:12According to Reuters, Muslim Abumar and his family were detained at the Guarulhos International

00:17Airport on Friday after arriving from Kuala Lumpur.

00:21They were held for two days before being put on a Qatar Airways flight to Doha.

00:26A senior Brazil police officer said a judge agreed with the cops that Abumar was deeply

00:31involved with Hamas, based on social media postings of a meeting he had with Hamas leader

00:37Ismail Haniyeh in Doha.

00:40Brazil has recognized the state of Palestine since 1975, while President Luis Ignacio Lula

00:46da Silva allowed the construction of an embassy in Brasilia during his previous term in office

00:52in 2010.

00:54Brazilian Ambassador Ibrahim al-Zibin said the embassy had not been officially contacted

00:59about Abumar's arrival and that he trusted Brazil's policy.
