00:15On the way to the Paris Olympics, the Philippines has a rowing champion.

00:20No one else but Giovanni Delgaco.

00:23Delgaco got a ticket to Paris

00:26for his participation in the World Rowing Asian and Oceanian Qualification Regatta in South Korea last April.

00:33Because of that, he made history as the first Filipino rower to be selected for the Olympics.

00:41As the Honorary Chairman of the Philippine Rowing Association,

00:45Governor John V. Cremulia is happy that the Philippines has an Olympic rower this year.

00:52When did he learn how to row?

00:54Then he suddenly qualified.

00:56So it shows the immense possibilities that our athletes can do here.

01:01I hope that rowing will be more exposed here in the Philippines.

01:05I think we can produce very good athletes, world-class athletes out of rowing.

01:09But it takes a lot of grassroot efforts, especially in sports like this.

01:14A message was also sent by the chef de mission for the Olympics Philippine delegation

01:18about his message for the 26-year-old rower.

01:22I said, don't forget that even if you know very little about what you're doing,

01:26you're still very important.

01:28And I hope that you do your best, not for anything else, but for yourself and for the country.

01:34Delgaco was one of the athletes who were given a send-off last Friday.

01:39Now, most of the delegates are already in Paris.

01:42They still have more than a month to prepare for the competition in the Pandaigdigang Entablado.
