00:00The International Economic Development Seminar continues in Caracas, Venezuela.
00:19Cuba joins South Africa in its lawsuit at the International Court of Justice against
00:23Israel for its genocide on the Palestinian people in Gaza.
00:29Russia's foreign ministry accused NATO of generating the greatest number of threats
00:34to our Asian security.
00:41Hello welcome to From the South, I'm Ana Marrero from the Telesur headquarters in Caracas,
00:45Venezuela.
00:46We'll be with the news, stay with us.
01:00The International Economic Development Seminar continues in Venezuela from the Teresa Carreño
01:06Theater in Caracas.
01:07On the second day of the event, the former president of Ecuador and economist Rafael
01:11Correa, as well as the economist Fan Gan from the Development Institute of the Economic
01:17Research Institute of China, addresses topics such as economic resilience, the procedure
01:23of economies, and the procedure to strengthen the economies of the Global South.
01:32I don't believe that economics is a science, it's a discipline, a sector of knowledge that
01:37can have a scientific side.
01:39But much is empiricism, much is politics, much is ideology.
01:43But there are things that are facts.
01:45Whether we are from the left or right, the earth is round.
01:48Whether we are from the left or right, we need to accumulate in order to develop, and
01:52to accumulate, we have to save.
01:54Simple as that.
01:55We need to produce more than what we consume.
01:57If you want to consume more than what you produce, that's not sustainable in time.
02:02The economist and president of the Chinese Institute for Development and of the Economic
02:08Research Institute, Fan Gan, points out the positive role of yin in generating public
02:12goods.
02:13Yes, it is true that China still has state-owned companies.
02:21And the government has played a positive role at all levels, the central government,
02:30the local governments, to provide the infrastructure, the industrial policies, and to generate the
02:41necessary public goods.
02:44During his participation in the International Seminar of Economic Development, the Chinese
02:48economies also said that China's socialist economy is based on a mixed market model.
02:58Social security is now a must for the market economy.
03:01That's nothing special.
03:08The government generates some rules, some laws, during the macroeconomic management.
03:19And what the Chinese socialist market economy does differently is that we still have those
03:29state companies.
03:30They may not be so competitive.
03:36They basically have some kind of monopoly on natural resources or on some other specific
03:41sector, on the service sector, on the industrial sector.
03:52We mainly see the private sector.
03:53It is a combination of a socialist market economy and a mixed economy.
04:01Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro highlighted the importance of the International Seminar
04:05on Economic Development during what he called a period of the nation's construction.
04:15I believe that this International Seminar on Economic Development came to nourish our
04:25country during this period of construction with a new economy, which we have called a
04:34diversified economy, to satisfy the internal needs, to produce goods, products, to satisfy
04:43the Venezuelans, to produce wealth, physical and monetary wealth, so that we can fulfill
04:51the objective of the economy.
05:01In this context, my partner, the Venezuelan government, signed a series of agreements
05:05with China on strengthening bilateral relations between both countries.
05:09During the second International Seminar on Economic Development held at the Teresa Carreño
05:14Theater in Caracas, Venezuelan Vice President Alexis Rodríguez thanked the HNA for its
05:19participation in the event.
05:21The Vice President also pointed out that with the signature, Venezuela could soon become
05:25a new member of the three groups of countries and contribute to the development and promotion
05:30of Latin America and the Caribbean as a powerful region.
05:38And we move on to Bolivia, where he celebrated the new Indian Amazonian year at the archaeological
05:44site of Tiahuac-Naco.
05:47Thousands of Bolivians gathered in more than 200 ceremonial sites throughout the country
05:51to receive the first rays of the sun as a celebration of the new year.
05:56Luis Arce, Vice President of Ichucahuaca, and other members of the cabinet witnesses
06:01the arrival of the year 5,532.
06:05The new Indian and Chequeño year, also known as the Return of the Sun and Dawn Start, represents
06:13a new agricultural cycle for the original peoples of the Indians.

07:50Welcome back to From the South.
08:09The Cuban government announced that it joins as a third state to the South African lawsuit
08:14before the International Court of Justice, ICJ, against Israel for the genocide suffered
08:19by the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
08:21Through a communique, the Cuban Prime Minister indicated that he took this decision given
08:25that Israel has a flagrantly violated international norms with its actions in the illegally occupied
08:31Palestinian territory of the Gaza Strip.
08:34The Prime Minister added that the main objective is to stop the atrocities of the Israeli army
08:39against the Palestinian people.
08:41With this step, Cuba joined Chile, Nicaragua, Colombia and Mexico, Latin American states
08:45that have expressed their request to join South Africa's demand.
08:59In this context, through his social network X, the Cuban Prime Minister Bruno Rodríguez
09:04said Cuba has decided to participate as a third state in South Africa's lawsuit against
09:10Israel before the ICJ and will argue the transgression of the genocide conviction to the main judicial
09:15body of UN.
09:17We must put an end to the massacre against the people of Palestine.
09:22Likewise, the communique issued by the Cuban Prime Minister also stated Israel, with total
09:29impunity protected by the complicity of the government of the United States, ignores its
09:33obligations as an occupying power under the fourth Geneva conviction.
09:38In another paragraph, the government of Cuba emphasized genocide, upper haze, forced displacement
09:44and collective punishment have no place in today's world, nor that they be tolerated
09:49by the international community.
09:51Justice and respect for the United Nations, short-term and international law must prevail.
10:01On Friday, Israeli shillings lauded at least 15 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, 259 days
10:07since the onset of this genocidal war on the civilian population, which has already left
10:13over 37,000 dead.
10:15On Thursday afternoon, an attack by the occupation army on a house in the Seytoun, Saudis, of
10:21Gaza City claimed the life of eight civilians who were transferred to the Batibs Hospital.
10:26Meanwhile, medical sources reported that two citizens were killed and 12 were injured in
10:32the shilling of the house in the Nusra Refugee Camp, while a third citizen perished in their
10:40valley during a military riot in the city.
10:48Gaza Strip authorities denounced the death of thousands of citizens in Israeli prisons
10:52after being subject to months of physical and psychological tortures.
10:57The authority of Palestinian prisoners and ex-prisoners of war detailed that a figure
11:02is in addition to the 18 citizens of the occupied West Bank who have died in the prisons of
11:08Tel Aviv since October 7, 2023.
11:11The officials also accused the Israeli state of crimes against humanity in the prisons,
11:16the forced disappearance of the detainees, and the setting up of mass graves in the facilities.
11:27Also in Palestine, the media department appealed to UNESCO to urge Israel to stop its aggression
11:33towards cultural and educational centers in Gaza Strip.
11:36Thousands of books from public and private libraries in the coastal enclave have been
11:41destroyed by the Zionist regime of Israel, including the library, the infrastructures.
11:45The media department denounced that Israel, with these crimes, tears down a part of Gaza's
11:51life, practicing an ethnic cleansing that includes the disappearance of Palestinian
11:56The Gaza Municipal Library, where we are now, is considered one of the most important
12:11libraries in the city of Gaza.
12:13This library included three sections, the book section, the language section and the
12:17children's section.
12:18This library had about 50,000 books and was described as the main library of Gaza City
12:23during the Israeli aggression and war.
12:26The Israeli occupation forces deliberately attacked several life elements in Gaza City
12:31as it attacked and destroyed offices, in addition to tearing down a library in the Rashad Al
12:38Shoura Center, and smashed many private and public libraries in several universities and
12:43institutions, where many libraries changed their role after being attacked in Gaza City.
12:51U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres warned Friday about the consequences of the
12:55escalation of the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah on the Israeli-Lebanon border.
12:59I felt compelled today to voice my profound concerns about escalation between Israel and
13:10Hezbollah along the blue line.
13:15Escalation in continued exchanges of fire and escalation in bellicose rhetoric from
13:21both sides, as if an all-out war was imminent.
13:26The risk for the conflict in the Middle East to widen is real and must be avoided.
13:33One rash move, one miscalculation, could trigger a catastrophe that goes far beyond the border
13:41and frankly, beyond imagination.
14:12Welcome back.
14:14Russia's foreign ministry blamed the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, NATO, for generating
14:19the greatest number of threats to Eurasian security.
14:22The organization denounced that NATO continues maneuvers to expand and destabilize the United
14:29States.
14:30In this regard, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov assured during a meeting of foreign ministers
14:34of the collective security treaty organization, NATO, that threats to Eurasian security emanated
14:42from different directions, but in most cases, this threats NATO's aggressive policy.
14:48In this sense, the foreign ministry emphasized that the real intention of this strategy,
14:52linked to its easel-worst expansion, is to threaten Russia, China and North Korea, countries
14:58that the U.S. and its allied nations consider to be their adversaries.
15:02The French Democratic Confederation of Labor reiterated its rejection to the far-right
15:13in view of its regressing parliament advances.
15:15The General Secretary of the Union, Marcia León, affirms that she opposes to the extreme
15:22right projects of inequality and its prevention of classifying social classes.
15:29In this sense, the organization urged its 600,000 members to vote in favor of the leftist
15:35blocs, the Popular Front, foreign-bidding socialists and the ecologists.
15:39The rejection comes ahead of the first round of the legislative elections, in which the
15:43National Rally Party aspires to achieve the absolute majority and claims prime minister
15:49deposition.
15:56China blames the European Union for sparking a possible trade war due to increased tensions
16:03following the implementation of sanctions.
16:06Beijing reaffirms its commitment to world trade organization rules and calls on the
16:11European Union to moderate its use of trade countermeasures.
16:16Government representatives state that so far this year that the regional bloc has introduced
16:20Rwanda President Paul Kagame declared that his country was ready to go to war with the
16:35Democratic Republic of Congo is necessary.
16:39The statement made during an exclusive interview with Friends 21 follows Congolese President
16:44Félix Richiri's accusation that Rwanda was organizing a genocide in the eastern part
16:49of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
16:52Kagame, for his part, responds to the accusations, claiming that Richiri was promoting a genocidal
16:59ideology against Congolese Tutsi.
17:03The decades-long conflict in eastern Congo has produced one of the world's worst humanitarian
17:08crises, with over 100 armed groups fighting in the region most for lands and control of
17:14mines with valuable minerals.
17:22And the government of Nigeria revoked the alliances of the French multinational nuclear
17:27fuel company Urano as part of the measures Implement Divided Break Ties with Paris.
17:33The mining ministry of the African country had warned of the possibility of revoking
17:37the alliances of work if work has not started before June the 19th, claiming that a measure
17:42follows the nation's security interests.
17:45After the end of the accusation, representatives of the French state-owned company regretted
17:50the order to withdraw from the mine of Unororem after 50 years of exploitation due to an enjoyment
17:57of the production.
18:12And now, changing topics.
18:18Improved world race walking champion Kimberly Garcia becomes the hope of her country for
18:24an Olympic medal at the Paris 2024 Games.
18:27Garcia won the 20-kilometer and 35-kilometer race walks at the 2022 World Championships
18:32in the United States, becoming the first-ever Peruvian world medalist of the event and the
18:38first Latin American to earn two titles in the same edition.
18:42After contemplating retirement due to an unfavorable performance in Tokyo 2020, the
18:48marches persisted in this sport and in 2023 won the 20-kilometer Pan-American gold medal
18:53in Santiago.
18:54It is worth highlighting that the last time a Peruvian claimed a podium in the Olympics
18:59was in Barcelona in 1992.
19:01Therefore, Garcia emerged as the main hope for the South American nation to break the
19:06The expectations are very high.
19:17I wouldn't say I just want the gold medal.
19:20And that's it.
19:21Whether it's gold, silver or bronze, it will always be well-received.
19:25As long as I get on the podium, I think I will be very happy.
19:28I mean, I don't want to lie and tell you that I will be fine with a fourth or fifth place
19:33because that would be disappointing for me.
19:36The president of the Confederation of African Football, Patrice Monseb, announced on Friday
19:42that the next African Cup of Nations, to be held in Morocco, was rescheduled to be played
19:49from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026.
19:54The decision was announced during a CAEF virtual executive committee meeting at their headquarters
20:01in Cairo, where Monseb explained that dates had been moved to avoid a crash with other
20:07football's international events, differently from the four-yearly European Championship,
20:13Copa America and Asian Cup.
20:15The upcoming is held early two years because it delivers most of the CAEF revenue.
20:31We have come to the end of this news brief, but before, let's watch a clip of the unique
20:38concert in support of peace, freedom and justice for Palestine, offered today by musical league
20:43legends Roger Waters and Cat Stevens.
20:46The company will rapper Low-Key, as well as other special guests who joined this initiative.
20:51From Televisory English and from the south, I'm Ana Marrero, thank you for watching.
21:01Hey, ball man, I have a question.
21:08As one of many victims tell me why, a failed, fat fucking landlord has been chosen to decide
21:26who should live and who should die.
21:31Sweetheart, there's a reason you come in here.
21:37I know, I was just putting on my dancing shoes.
21:43With the right set of moves, we can turn this ship around.
21:51Together, we can write tomorrow's news.
