00:00Although the SIM Registration Act is in effect, they have yet to implement the TALAMAC tax scams.
00:05That's why the NTC is being explained by some senators.
00:09We will talk about that with NTC Deputy Commissioner John Paolo Salvahan.
00:13Good morning and welcome to Balitang Hali.
00:15Good morning to you sir Raffy and ma'am Ponny and to you televiewers.
00:20Is the NTC effort to implement the TALAMAC tax scam already under way?
00:26As of now, sir Raffy, the implementation of the SIM Registration Act is ongoing.
00:32We have put additional measures to prevent the registration and validation of our telecoms
00:41with the data and information submitted to their SIM Registers.
00:46What can you say that you are being explained by Senate President Chico Escudero
00:50because it seems that the NTC is ineffective in committing tax scams
00:54and our viewers are noticing that the number of tax scams is increasing even though there is a SIM Registration Act.
01:01Yes sir Raffy.
01:03In our statement, we acknowledge the call of the majority of our senators to tighten the enforcement of the SIM Registration.
01:14And in the consultation meeting of the Senate Committee on Public Services around a week or two weeks ago,
01:22the NTC expressed our willingness to cooperate and collaborate with the Senate
01:31to study the enhancements that can be done not only in the law but also in the regulations of the NTC.
01:39Very briefly, where do you see the problem with the SIM Registration Act?
01:45Is it in the registration itself or is there a hole in this law?
01:49As we can see, scammers are continuously looking for ways to register or submit fake or fictitious registration documents.
02:03They are also transferring platforms.
02:08Some are using what we call over the top platforms like WhatsApp, Telegram, Viber.
02:16That's what they are thinking of.
02:19Unfortunately, the SIM Registration Act is not yet covered over the top platforms.
02:25Even in PogoHubs, there are many SIM cards that are being used for online fraud and scam.
02:34How can this problem be solved if the other platforms that they went to are not yet in the law?
02:42Even before PogoHubs was discovered, the NTC took the initiative in requesting these over the top platforms for a meeting to discuss what can be done.
02:59We already had a meeting with representatives from META, Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and Viber.
03:08They had a meeting with us about a month or two months ago.
03:13We are discussing the possible measures to address the scamming and spamming that they are using on their platforms,
03:23including the possible data sharing.
03:26They will share data themselves with those who have deactivated their SIM numbers to deactivate the platforms of our over the top operators.
03:38What can we expect from those like us who have already registered but are still accepting such tech scams?
03:44They even have a name.
03:45Our name is already completed in the tech scam that they are doing.
03:48How about the new scammers that will be scammed?
03:52There are sources of information, personal information of these scammers.
04:01That's why they can identify who is the owner of the SIM.
04:06For example, if we registered our name and number in a store or establishment,
04:14we can get their personal information.
04:18That's why we are warning our subscribers not to give their personal information.
04:26If they are receiving spam or scam messages, they can report to us at NTC 24-7.
04:34We have our own reporting mechanisms such as Hotline 1682 on our website.
04:41There is a complaint section there.
04:43They can also email us at contratextscam.ntc.gov.ca.
04:48Okay. So even if you have a registration act, be careful with those who are using phones.
04:53Thank you very much for your time.
04:55Good afternoon.
04:56Thank you very much sir Rafi and good morning to you.
04:59NTC Deputy Commissioner John Salvahan.

06:06After 8 hours, 1,447 pedicures were given.
06:11Wow!
06:12That's more compared to the current record of Canadians, which is 1,083.
06:18For now, the validation of the Guinness World Records is still waiting for the attempt to be successful.
06:29The fire that is burning in Reduza Village, New Mexico, in America, is raging.
06:33Mandatory evacuation of the residents was immediately ordered.
06:37The wildfire started Monday morning.

06:48This is your Regional TV News.
06:56Age doesn't matter.
06:58That's what some senior citizens want to have a job.
07:03This is Paul Hernandez of Jimmy Regional TV, Balitang Sorin Tagalog.
07:09If you want to work in a company,
07:12who will be the one to hire a 64-year-old Sylvia?
07:15Especially given her age and the fact that most of her employers are already retired.
07:19She's already a senior.
07:20She can only sell things.
07:23She's one of our wives.
07:25Where will we get food?
07:28This is the opposite of what a pastry shop employee in Lipa City is looking for.
07:33They need a senior citizen, 60 years old and above.
07:37We want them to feel that if you are able and willing to work,
07:40go and join us so that they can feel that we have a purpose.
07:45The job posting on social media went viral with thousands of shares,
07:49reacts and positive comments.
07:51Resumes were immediately sent.
07:54We're very excited.
07:55They will also learn from us.
07:58We will also learn from them.
08:01The duty in the shop is only four hours.
08:03It's like they're just wandering around.
08:05Whatever you do at home, that's what you will do here.
08:08It's like there's no change.
08:10You will clean the table, serve the customers.
08:13The Office for Senior Citizens Affairs or OSCA Lipa City was pleased.
08:17It should normalize the work of senior citizens as long as they can.
08:22I earn a little, I'm happy.
08:24And my interaction with people is happy, right?
08:28It raises the morale of the seniors because they feel that they can still do something.
08:34They maintain the beauty of their thoughts
08:38and avoid the issues that are related to questioning their self-worth
08:43and even questioning their self-esteem.
08:47The shop owner wants more people to do business
08:50that will give opportunities to the seniors.
08:53From GMA Regional TV, Balitang Southern Tagalog,
08:56Paul Hernandez reporting for GMA Integrated News.
09:03Love is sweeter, the second wedding around.
09:07That's what the couple proved from Amlan Negros Oriental.
09:11They were given a second chance to fulfill their dream wedding
09:16with the help of some good-hearted people.
09:19From gowns, wedding rings, reception, fireworks display, and honeymoon,
09:25some wedding suppliers from the province agreed.
09:28It's estimated to reach one million pesos.
09:31The couple is very thankful to them.
09:34The take-two wedding, because their wedding went viral,
09:38where the priest started the mass even though the bride is still walking in the aisle.
09:43The bride asked the netizens to move on from the issue.
09:53Education, there is no age limit.
09:56Yes, that's right.
09:57Just like our star now, who is from Caloocan.
