00:00All right, everyone.
00:03Welcome back into another live edition of the Patriots beat podcast here on the CLNS
00:09media network.
00:10We are fresh off the Gillette Stadium practice fields after day one of mandatory minicamp
00:16down there in Foxborough today.
00:18So it is Brian Hines back with Alex Barth as always to break down what we saw again
00:24on day one of mandatory minicamp today on Monday.
00:27So we can get right into it.
00:29We can get to the quarterbacks.
00:31That's where our eyes are mostly glued to most of the day.
00:34And that's what everyone wants to know, of course, with Drake May there.
00:38And a continued theme from last week was Drake May got the second most quarterback reps behind
00:44Jacoby Brissett, which again, when we first started going to OTAs about a month ago at
00:50this point, it was Jacoby Brissett.
00:52And then Bailey Zappi was that second guy and Drake May was third last week in their
00:56final week of OTAs.
00:58You know, Drake May jumped Bailey Zappi and that continued today.
01:01It was still Jacoby Brissett leading off.
01:03I think he took 30 live reps and team drills and Drake May was second and he took 29 too.
01:08So not only is he second, but he's really getting a good amount of volume of reps there
01:13today on the practice field as well.
01:15And he's looking good too.
01:16I thought he was impressive today again.
01:18Yeah.
01:19And that's.
01:20So yeah.
01:21Just take it.
01:22Take it with there with Drake May.
01:23Yeah.
01:24I mean, that's the big thing for me is just a pure volume of it.
01:27Like we, we talked about after that first practice, remember, Hey, they need, they need
01:32to get them ready.
01:33And it is a balancing act between Jacoby Brissett, if he's going to be your week one starter,
01:37which we both think is the case, I believe, um, you got to get him ready for week one.
01:42We also got developed Drake May and where do Bailey Zappi's reps fit in there?
01:47They kind of don't.
01:48I mean, the same go for, for Joe Milton, but they weren't repping Milton ahead of May.
01:53Now we're seeing a plan that, okay, this makes some sense here where you're seeing
01:58Jacoby Brissett get enough that he's getting used to working with the guys he needs to
02:02get used to.
02:04But after that, it's really mostly being dedicated to Drake May and getting Drake May, uh, you
02:09know, the reps he needs to develop.
02:11So I like the plan they have for him.
02:12I thought he had a good day.
02:14You know, the one knock is, is he struggled in that two minute, one minute drill.
02:19So at the end of practice, what they did first, they put one 32 on the clock.
02:24The offense had to go 75 yards, no timeouts.
02:26We think for a touchdown because they got one group, got in a field goal range and didn't
02:30kick out on fourth down.
02:31So the kickers were like on the other field, they would have like their helmets on, like
02:36they're ready on the sideline, ready to run in.
02:38But like Chad and Joey Sly were like kicking on the other field.
02:41They weren't really involved in that drill.
02:42So yeah, it looked like they needed a touchdown.
02:45So you had the offense one 32, no timeouts, go 75 and each quarterback got to do that
02:51once and then they, they kind of broke and then went back and it was 75 yards a minute,
02:58no timeouts for a field goal and between.
03:01So that was one, two, three, four, five, six, seven of the two minute drives because Joe
03:07Milton only went once and then three of the one minute drives.
03:11Once Jacoby Berset got them in the field goal range, every other one ended in some
03:15sort of win for the defense, mostly turnover on downs, a couple where the clock ran out
03:20Bailey's app.
03:21He's two minute.
03:22He was picked off on the first play by Kyle Duggar.
03:26But you know, so people look at that, I think it knocked the quarterback.
03:28So you want to see maybe be better there, but I thought besides that he had a really
03:32good day.
03:33And the thing that's now starting to stand out to me about him, we talked about the footwork
03:38and the footwork's coming along, but the other one, Brian, if you remember
03:41back to pre draft, the analogy I used for Drake may the golf analogy of he has all the
03:47clubs in the bag, but he doesn't always know when to use which club he can hit them all
03:52and he can hit them all.
03:53Well, there's times he's going sand wedge to tee off on a par four.
03:57There's times he's breaking out the three wood in the bunker, you know, right in front
04:00of the green.
04:01And I think what you saw, especially today, it's been all spring, but especially today,
04:06he's doing a much better job of figuring out and delivering the necessary pass for
04:11the moment.
04:12Like we saw him absolutely zip some, some clothesline bullet passes in between tight
04:17windows.
04:18One to pop Douglas for a touchdown, but then he comes back like two plays later and it's
04:22a touch pass to Michael Petway in the back of the end zone.
04:26That kind of gives him an opportunity to go up away from the defender and get the ball.
04:29So you're seeing him do a better job, I think of putting touch on the ball when and where
04:33he needs to put a touch on it, which was another one of those big knocks on him coming
04:36out of UNC.
04:37Yeah.
04:38That, that was very impressive today.
04:40I thought some of those touch passes and that seems like it's kind of helped him in the
04:43quick game a little bit too.
04:45Some of those, you know, you got to get the ball quick, which another was kind of an era.
04:48He struggled at UNC at times, but then you saw some of the throws that he did make a
04:53lot at UNC, a strike down the seam.
04:57That was to Jaheim Bell, another touchdown, or then he had like the one where he steps
05:02up and he throws that sidearm pass to Jalen Polk and the flat, which, you know, you see
05:06that kind of a playmaker gene and the arm angles that he can work with.
05:10And Jabril Peppers loved it.
05:12He was starting to do that throw in motion on the sideline.
05:15So I thought it was another, like just impressive day from Drake May there.
05:21He's taking steps.
05:22He seems like, you know, we talked to the offensive coaches last week and they seem
05:26really impressed with how he's handling everything.
05:28And it seems like that's kind of translating to the practice field.
05:30So I don't know if you want to say he's ahead of schedule, but it feels like it's been mostly
05:35positive the first month here with May.
05:38I don't know that he's ahead, but he's where he should be and there's nothing wrong with
05:40that.
05:41Yeah.
05:42Especially given they might've not given him the first week.
05:45Like we don't know when that rep switch happened.
05:47So yeah, but yeah, I think it's positive signs what we've seen so far.
05:52So the big question, like week one, that where you at, like, has this gave you a little more
05:59hope?
06:00Is this already week one or, you know, Jacoby still is leading everything off.
06:04He looks like the week one starter, but he would be the week one starter if they had
06:07a game on, on Sunday.
06:10But has any of this kind of change your, change your thoughts on long way to go?
06:15Of course, we still have all the training camp, all of the preseason, one joint practice,
06:20but any, maybe more momentum for him to, to kind of get in there week one.
06:26Yeah.
06:27I mean, May's done everything he could do to this point, but there's still so much more
06:32to go.
06:33I mean, we got to get the pads on.
06:34Let's see him in a joint practice.
06:35Let's see him in the preseason.
06:37There's so many more boxes for him to check that I'm, I still think it's, it's going to
06:44be Jacoby Myers week one.
06:46Jacoby Myers.
06:47All right.
06:48So she's Jacoby Bursette.
06:50Jacoby Myers could play quarterback.
06:52He could, um, man, you Jacoby Myers and Jake Bailey today.
06:57We're trying to turn back.
06:58I know.
06:59I don't know.
07:00What's up with me today.
07:01Um, yeah, so that was Drake may, I don't know what you think you mentioned, you know, those
07:07kind of two minute, one minute drills, anything else from the quarterbacks, whether it was
07:11Jacoby Bailey had, I feel like it wasn't Bailey had the pick and he kind of struggled to move
07:17the ball elsewhere at times throughout the day.
07:20Milton was kind of the Joe Milton experience.
07:22He had a really nice, maybe one of the best paths of the day on kind of an out route to
07:26Jaquay Jackson, the new wide receiver, but then he comes back and like sails it over
07:30the head of the next guy.
07:32So kind of the Joe Milton experience, but, uh, anything on those quarterbacks, the non-Drake
07:36may quarterbacks from today.
07:38Um,
07:39I don't know, Zappy still holding the ball a lot, still holding the ball a lot and that's
07:44got to change.
07:45And I, I mean, ultimately I don't think it has it mattering because he's not going to
07:48be here, but he, he's holding the ball.
07:52He's holding the ball.
07:53He took, I think two sacks his.
07:54So his one minute, let me check my notes here.
07:56I know his one minute, the defense won because he took two sacks and the clock ran out.
08:03I, it might've gone a fourth down, but the fourth down was like a second left.
08:06Um, his two minute was the pick and all right.
08:10Turnover on downs.
08:11But I know he took a sack in the, in the two minute as well as the one minute.
08:14So just, just got to get the ball out, got to get the ball out.
08:18Yep.
08:19A few of them got hurt.
08:20I don't think it might've been Jacoby, a lot of penalties.
08:23They had a actual ref crew out there today and a lot of procedural penalties kind of
08:28cut into those two minute, one minute drills as well as their kind of, you know, this is
08:33early installation.
08:34So you might expect that they were shuffling some guys on the offensive line, which we
08:37can talk about as well, but a lot of penalties there to hurt those kind of game game ending
08:42drives there as well.
08:43So let's wrap up quarterbacks.
08:46We have a question from Reggie.
08:49What does Drake may need to do to be the week one starter?
08:52Can he just be really good in practice or does he have to show out in joint practices
08:58in preseason games?
09:00So what, what, what would you want to see from Drake may throughout the summer, summer
09:06there to, to name him the week one starter?
09:08I don't know.
09:09It's so tough.
09:10I mean, it's, it's, it's gotta be pre-season.
09:12It's gotta be joint practice and preseason games, like anything short of him being excellent
09:16in that.
09:17And I'm not, I think it's not so much what he needs to do.
09:21Uh, they need to have the left tackle position figured out and the offensive line figured
09:26out.
09:27And I get you, like you said, we'll get to the offensive line a little bit, and I think
09:29this is part of the conversation, but they had the worst pass block win rate in the NFL
09:33last year.
09:34It was one of the worst in, in, you know, the last, whatever it is, 10, 15 years, as
09:37long as they've been tracking that stat league wide, I'm not putting, even if I think he's
09:43ready, I'm not putting Drake may out there to get his ass kicked and get sped up and
09:50develop bad habits just because, Oh, you know, week one rookie quarterback, we like, no,
09:56I, as a, as a media member and as a Patriots fan, I will sacrifice September, 2024 being
10:05lesser than football.
10:07If it means that the next five to 10 years are better because they get the line figured
10:11out and they don't subject Drake may now it's not going to be perfect.
10:14Let's.
10:15So I give this take and people say, Oh, so you got to wait until it's perfect.
10:17So he's never going to start.
10:19No.
10:20There is a middle ground between the bet, a perfect offensive line in literally one
10:27of the worst offensive lines of the last decade.
10:30He's going to face pressure.
10:31I get that.
10:32It's going to happen.
10:33I understand it.
10:34And at a certain point, he has a mobile guy.
10:35You're going to expect him to negate some of that himself, but he can't be just getting,
10:41you know, free rusher blindside clocked every second or third time he drops back.
10:47Because he's going to develop bad habits.
10:48If that happens, any quarterback would.
10:51So it's, it's not so much what he has to do in what compounds this, which what makes it
10:56trickier is you can't really evaluate offensive line play in the summer anymore.
11:01I think Matt Light talked about this last week, right?
11:04On, on games with names on Julian Edelman's podcast.
11:07Like these guys don't get pads on until the weekend at camp, even though they can't really
11:11hit don't play it's on in the preseason games.
11:14We saw it last year and the Patriots were an extreme example, but they're not alone.
11:17They were still figuring out their starting offensive line into October because you don't
11:22really get to start evaluating these guys truly and how they work as a unit.
11:27Maybe you can individually evaluate them individually, but that's not how it works.
11:32You don't really get to start evaluating them until September.
11:34So that's another part of it.
11:36I think I said this on the show, Brian last week, you know, we're sitting up there it's
11:39week five and Mike Reese tweets out the starting lineup and says, this is the fifth different
11:44Drake Mays played behind in five games and you know, you're putting that much more on
11:48his plate where he has to get used to communicating with different guys every week.
11:52I acknowledge there's going to be some of that and you can't wait until all of that
11:56is done, but I would like to see them get some sort of something figured out.
12:01Who is your left tackle?
12:03Maybe it's not going to be pretty, whoever your left tackle is, but remember last year
12:06they kept rotating guys just to see who could play, like who, who was going to be the best
12:12case scenario, even if it wasn't great, like, let's at least figure out who the best case
12:16scenario is.
12:17Even if it doesn't look good, let's at least figure out who the best case scenario is before
12:21we put Drake May in there.
12:22Yeah.
12:23Yeah.
12:24And that could take, as you said, a few months or a month or two into the season.
12:28And Gerard Mayo talked about it and let's just transition this into our offensive line
12:32talk at this point.
12:33Cause Gerard Mayo talked about it today.
12:35He said like, we're going to play the best five players and the personnel is not going
12:40to change from now until the season.
12:43I mean, maybe they sign like, you know, David Bakhtiari is the name, you know, people always
12:47throw in our chat.
12:49Maybe you get one of those guys, but like, you're not going to get a true difference
12:52maker and the personnel, but maybe you find a better combination on the line or move something
12:59around with your personnel.
13:00And that elevates to a point where maybe you're two months into the season and now you're
13:03like, okay, it's better.
13:05We're not the worst pass block win rate in the league.
13:07Now we can put Drake may behind that and feel a little more comfortable.
13:11So we saw some of that shuffling today.
13:14We saw maybe what I think a lot of us have maybe projected to be their best five.
13:19And that was sliding Mike on when you back into right guard.
13:22Now that wasn't the, the, the lineup for the whole practice.
13:27He opened that right tackle, Nick Leverett, the free agent addition was next to him at
13:32right guard, but there are points throughout today's practice where they slid big Mike
13:35inside and then they put Caden Wallace at right tackle, which again, that's where he
13:39played all Penn state at right tackle and chooks is back out there at left tackle.
13:43So do you think, are you in the boat where that's, that's their best five?
13:47And then it was David Andrews and city.
13:49So to, to round that group out a worth mentioning.
13:51So that was a notable change there up front and maybe that is their best five moving forward
13:57with big Mike back at guard Caden Wallace playing his natural position, right?
14:01You have more guys playing their natural position with that.
14:04And maybe that, that could help settle that unit down a bit.
14:06Yeah.
14:07I mean, I think it makes some sense.
14:09I like going into a tackle, but if Caden Wallace can hold up and right tackle, then that does
14:13make a lot of sense.
14:14But again, you got to get a figure, like you got a seat in the game to figure it out.
14:18And, and we're already seeing them, I think deviate from their original plan for a team
14:23that said that they plan on developing Caden Wallace as a left tackle.
14:27They're not doing it.
14:28They're not, he's not playing left.
14:30Alan Anderson was back out there at left today behind Chooks of Coralville.
14:34So, and, and look, that's, you know, I fine.
14:40If you're going to keep him at right, keep him at right.
14:41It opens up that opportunity, but I think they're scrambling.
14:44I think they're already maybe realizing that the plan they had initially isn't going to
14:49work.
14:50Yeah.
14:51Yeah.
14:52I mean, seeing, we talked about it so much, uh, last show in that last OTA that Caden
14:58Wallace was only playing right tackle and Taylor was yelling at us that it was a crossover
15:03day, but today was not a crossover day.
15:06They had those guys at their natural position and he only repped at right tackle.
15:10It was, if he was with that first unit next to big Mike, he was at right tackle.
15:15Or if, if it was kind of that, that second unit, it was Calvin Anderson at left and Caden
15:20Wallace at right.
15:21So it's a weird situation.
15:24Maybe it is them scrambling, but yeah, if they drafted him to play left tackle, which
15:29is what they all told us after the draft, he's not getting left tackle reps right now.
15:34And right.
15:35I know like the quarterback, this is the time to get these guys, these young guys, the reps,
15:38and it's not, it's not happening.
15:40So I don't know, it's just kind of a weird, weird situation.
15:45Maybe, maybe they saw something.
15:47Maybe they are.
15:48It is just them scrambling at this point, but yeah, Caden Wallace does not look like
15:51a left tackle.
15:52Like he's preparing to play left tackle at all right now.
15:56It may be down the road.
15:57They do it.
15:58But for this year, I mean, I think this is the case and I was talking to Taylor about
16:01a practice and he said, maybe they want to get, you know, chooks as many reps at left
16:05tackle since he's probably going to be starting, which yes, that's what you should.
16:08That was my whole point.
16:09You can't have two guys making that change.
16:12That's just too much time to dedicate.
16:14And yeah, I just kind of just drafted a left tackle.
16:18Zuri Henry was back out there today and Calvin Anderson's actually playing on the left side.
16:24So we're making some progress here.
16:27Well, do you have a Zuri Henry take?
16:30Were you watching him closely?
16:33He was barely out there.
16:34I didn't see it.
16:35I was just watching him a little bit to see like, maybe I could tell if he's dealing with
16:39an injury or something.
16:40I think he's still limited from whatever held him out from, um, you know, rookie mini camp
16:44and OTAs.
16:46We'll revisit that when we get to camp.
16:48I was laughing.
16:49He ran up like 15 minutes into practice.
16:51Like he was late.
16:52Everyone thought he wasn't there.
16:53I was, I told Taylor, he probably doesn't even know where the practice field was.
16:57That's why he was late.
16:58He's never been out there when we, when we've seen him, but Zuri Henry was there.
17:02Maybe he'll be our savior, but, um, any other offensive line notes?
17:07It was, we got levered at guard.
17:11It's tough without pads, but just the line, Michael Jordan got kicked out of practice
17:16for trying to fight Tristan Hill.
17:17Yep.
17:18Um, well, tempers flair in there today, these guys probably, these guys probably just want
17:23to hit each other at this point, like, so I know Jake Andrews, he's banged up.
17:29So he's clearly dealing with something and that kind of opens up.
17:34We've seen a Tonio Moffey rep a ton at center saw after practice Laden Robinson was getting
17:40some reps at center, uh, just individually like him and Drake may were working together.
17:44So, um, and Ryan Johnson was, and Ryan Johnson was the other one where I was trying to remember
17:49the other one.
17:50So it seems like there's going to, there might be a job open for a backup center and it,
17:55that's going to be pretty wide open.
17:56Yep.
17:57Charles Turner too was a UDFA, uh, center.
18:00He could maybe factor into that.
18:02He played at LSU.
18:03So, um, as always, you know, they'll have tons of competition on that, the depth offensive
18:09line and the starting offensive line cause playing best five.
18:12So we'll just kind of see, uh, how this shakes up, but, uh, elsewhere on offense, maybe the
18:17news of the day Ramond Ray Stevenson, uh, spoke after practice and he said that he's
18:22pretty close.
18:23He believes it's pretty close to signing a contract extension with the team he's in the
18:28last year of his, uh, rookie deal.
18:31He says, you know, he's trying to get that done, get locked in with an extension believes
18:35he's pretty close.
18:36Um, did confirm that he is weight isn't down, but he says it's better weight, uh, got his
18:43body fat down.
18:44So that was something we noticed.
18:47He looked a little leaner.
18:48So, uh, said hopes that, you know, help, help some hold up for the long season.
18:52Mayo said, uh, might help his speed and some of those long runs.
18:55So he looks good and he's hoping to get locked in here on a contract extension.
19:00Do you think he deserves it?
19:02What type of deal do you think we might be looking at there for Ramond Ray?
19:05Yeah.
19:06It's tough to say these running back deals are so all over the place.
19:09Um, I, it's, you know, I don't think it's going to be one of these one-year bridge deals.
19:13I think it's going to be multi-year deal.
19:14I think they're going to try to keep them.
19:15Uh, let me pull up the running back, uh, over the cap numbers here.
19:19Um, cause that's what you got to base it off of, right?
19:22You got to base it off previous contracts.
19:24And this was something I was going to look up if I didn't, you know, wasn't rushing home
19:28for practice to get home in time to do the show.
19:30I was hoping to do some stuff.
19:31Well, you looked at it.
19:32I'll say, uh, Mayo was asked about him and he said, I think Stevenson's one of the better
19:35backs in the league.
19:37No doubt about it.
19:38I think over the last few years, it's been kind of tough on him as far as getting started.
19:41So I'm excited to see what he does this year and he's earned everything that he gets.
19:45He is our starting running back and hopefully we do get something done contract wise.
19:49He was talking about there.
19:50So Mayo is obviously a big fan of him and running back such a big part of this Alex
19:56van Pelt offense.
19:57Andre said he was watching a lot of Nick Chubb films, so, um, he, I don't want to say
20:02a priority because it's June and they haven't extended them, but maybe next up him, Jude
20:07on, we'll talk about him.
20:08Uh, but yeah, what, what'd you find there for contracts?
20:12So go an average guaranteed a year.
20:13McCaffrey gets 12.
20:14You're not, he's not touching that.
20:16Saquon's at eight, six, Aaron Jones is at seven.
20:19That's a fully guaranteed deal.
20:21Joe Mixon gets six and a half million a year, guaranteed Jonathan Taylor, about six and
20:25a half million guaranteed.
20:27Then you go down to be John Robinson, five and a half million guaranteed.
20:31And that's a rookie contract, obviously.
20:33So I mean, I think he, he's probably going to want to be a top five back.
20:37I think you're looking at somewhere in the, in the, the six to 7 million guaranteed.
20:43So I wonder like three years, 20 million, something like that, three years, 18, and
20:51that's guaranteed.
20:52And all of those contracts are about 70% guaranteed.
20:55So you're somewhere like three years, 24 million with 18, 19 guaranteed, I think is probably
21:02his market.
21:03This is a fair point though.
21:04Like the 2025 draft.
21:07And I tweeted about this the other day could be a great, great running back draft.
21:14Now I think we talked about this on the show the other day.
21:16I don't know.
21:17We did.
21:18Yeah.
21:19You know, we'll see some of these guys, Ollie Gord's is underclassmen Amari and Hampton
21:23is an underclassmen now with NIL.
21:25Maybe they stay in school, um, but it, and maybe guys get hurt.
21:30Like you don't, you don't know, but it does look like a really, really, really good running
21:35back class, but the Patriots are a draft and developed team.
21:39This is what they're going to be.
21:40Now, if they draft you and you can play, they're going to keep you made the positional value
21:45thing like that goes out the window.
21:46So I think they plan on keeping Ramon or Stevenson.
21:49I think they plan on keeping them long-term doesn't mean they won't draft a running back,
21:52but maybe not as high as they otherwise would.
21:53I think they want to pay him.
21:54I think they're going to pay him.
21:56Yeah.
21:57I'm with you too.
21:58Um, man, I was a big fan.
22:01Um, and I think he's going to be a good fit kind of in this offense.
22:05So yeah, I do think they're going to pay him.
22:06He's done so much for them the last few years to not that, you know, you end up paying people
22:11based off past performances.
22:12It's not the best deal of business, but when you are this draft and developed team, that's
22:17kind of how you do business.
22:18So, uh, that seems the path they're going to take, uh, there with Mondra.
22:21So, uh, we'll wait and see if that one gets wrapped up.
22:25I don't know, probably not before they break for a training camp here.
22:28Maybe that's a mid training camp extension or something.
22:31They've done that.
22:32He said it was close.
22:33That to me sounds like, uh, something that might get done early July thing.
22:38Yeah.
22:39So that'll be interesting, but, uh, any other offensive notes?
22:44I think Jalen Polk busiest day of spring practices that we've seen so far had two touchdowns,
22:51one over Christian Gonzalez, another kind of high point over, I believe it was a ZZ or
22:56Hern corner.
22:57So good to see him getting a little more involved today.
23:01Uh, Jaheim Bell to another rookie convention, rookie pass catcher.
23:05He was busy, had that touchdown we talked about from Drake may a couple other, uh, plays
23:09up the seam, his skillset there that that speed athleticism really flashes when he's
23:14going up the seam.
23:15But, uh, any other notes from past catchers or anything else offensively that we didn't,
23:21we didn't touch on, um, just Jalen Rager, super involved.
23:25I think he tied for the team lead in, in catches he led for among wide receivers today.
23:30Um, and this time you're like involvement is notable.
23:34He didn't have any highlight catches.
23:35I don't even know if he caught any touchdowns, but he was on the field a lot.
23:40Quarterbacks are targeting him.
23:41He, he looks like he's part of the plan and that is kind of the biggest take kind of takeaways
23:45this time of year.
23:46So Jalen Rager, very involved.
23:48That feels notable.
23:49Yup.
23:50Cause that's the spot.
23:52There's a fifth, maybe a sixth spot at wide receiver and it's Rager it's KJ Osborne.
23:58And we've talked so much about Rager having that special teams and the kick return value.
24:03If he is contributing at times as, as a wide receiver, uh, that, that certainly helps his
24:08case in that roster battle.
24:11Uh, and, and just a rollercoaster day for Taekwon Thor and like he starts team drills
24:16with a drop and then on the completely wrong page with Jacoby Brissett, but then he ends
24:21it with like a catch or two.
24:23So we're not doing Taekwon, but just riding that rollercoaster again for him today.
24:28So he's going to need probably more consistency there as well if he wants to get involved
24:33in that kind of last roster spot in the wide receiver room.
24:35So, um, that's it offensively, uh, before we touch on defense, I want to tell you all
24:43about prize picks, which is America's number one fantasy sports app with more than 5 million
24:48members.
24:49And it is the most fun and exciting way to get into the action.
24:52While you watch your favorite sports and players, you just pick more or less on two or more
24:56player stats for a shot to win up to 100 times your cash in the Boston Celtics are up to
25:01in the finals and the finals mean more on prize picks.
25:04And so do those star players.
25:06You get boosted payouts on select basketball stars that you won't find anywhere else.
25:10We're due for a Jason Tatum game at some point.
25:12So I'm going to go over more on Tatum's points in game three and my strategy of going against
25:17Kyrie has worked pretty well so far.
25:20So we're going to keep that going and go less on Kyrie Irving points as well.
25:24And even when the finals are over, the hoops action doesn't stop on prize picks because
25:28women's basketball is just getting started, getting a little spicy with the Olympics
25:32to coming up and young stars like Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese are looking to make
25:36more names for themselves along the greats like Brianna Stewart.
25:39And you could win up to 100 times your cash as well, watching them ball out.
25:43So download prize picks today and use code CLNS for a first deposit match up to $100.
25:48Again, download prize picks today and use code CLNS for a first deposit match up to
25:55$100.
25:56Pick more.
25:57And yes, it's that easy over on price fix.
26:00So jumping over to defense, we mentioned, uh, those, uh, two minute, one minute drills
26:08to end practice.
26:09There are seven or eight of them.
26:10It was pretty much a defense.
26:12They won.
26:13They gave up one field goal, uh, launch lawn field goal too.
26:16So a good show and Chad Riley did hit that one.
26:20He did hit it.
26:21I think I had a little 50 yard or two.
26:22I think it was right around 50.
26:24I live 43.
26:2543.
26:26Yeah.
26:27I thought it was longer than that, but, uh, he made it.
26:32We'll talk about that later.
26:33But I think the big thing defensively before we get into the performance was Matt Jude
26:38on was there.
26:39He was not there at all for OTAs and didn't really look last year.
26:44You know, last year was that hold in where he wasn't doing much, uh, which kind of what
26:49the Von gotcha was doing today where, you know, he's another guy who has no guaranteed
26:52money on his deal.
26:54So his involvement wasn't a full participant.
26:56It looked like the match you done looked pretty involved for a guy who probably wants a bump
27:02on his contractor or an adjustment there to get some guaranteed money.
27:06So good to see him out there and, you know, kind of a full, a full participant there for
27:11most of the day today.
27:13Yeah.
27:14He, he seems locked in and that kind of tells me maybe his deal is close to close soon to
27:20that.
27:21He's out there.
27:22He's getting involved.
27:23Cause I, I thought he might hold out again or hold in again.
27:25It doesn't have a ton of incentive to be out there right now.
27:28And the fact that he was makes me think that they're getting some done behind the scenes.
27:31He said he wants to stay here.
27:34He said he wants to be part of this team.
27:36They have committed significant money to retaining players.
27:40It makes all the sense in the world for them to give Jude on a new contract and it seems
27:43like that's close.
27:44Yep.
27:45And someone asked what's going on with Jelani Tavai cause he hasn't practiced at all this
27:52spring.
27:53He was, he's been out there in street clothes, but he hasn't been practicing.
27:57He's rehabbing from something.
27:58We don't know exactly what it was.
28:00Mayo said today he wants some, he was joking.
28:03So Tavai wants to kick on the kickoffs and Mayo said, no, just get healthy first.
28:10So he's rehabbing something.
28:13We also didn't get, uh, Uche hasn't been out there, which the only ones that the only
28:19people that weren't out there that weren't related to any known injury, assuming, you
28:24know, Gerard Mayo using the connection on that, uh, where Josh Uche and Sione Taki-Taki.
28:29Yeah.
28:30Who Taki-Taki's missed like three straight practices as well and been out there in street
28:34clothes as well.
28:35So that's probably, I don't want to speculate on what, what it might be, but it's probably
28:41some type of injury, but Uche, we haven't seen at all or, or know what's going on or
28:46the, I mean, Mayo said everyone's been in the building.
28:49So, well, Uche was supposed to speak to the media today.
28:52So I wonder if there's some last minute, they're any sick or something, maybe, but, uh, that
28:58was attendance.
29:00Um, any like standout performances, defense, uh, we saw Jonathan Jones was, was kind of
29:09limited.
29:10So we saw a lot of these shuffling and, and the backend Christian Gonzalez was obviously
29:14Christian Gonzalez, but, uh, Isaiah Bolden got some work in the slot, got a ton of run
29:19today.
29:20Yep.
29:21Alex Austin's still involved.
29:22Uh, Marco Wilson rotated in there.
29:24So even a ZZ Hearn was on the field a lot.
29:27And, and so that's my big takeaways like that secondary competition is legit.
29:33Like that's, they're giving everybody a shot and it's, it's a competition again.
29:37Bolden was on the field a ton today.
29:39Austin and Wilson have obviously done a ton, a ZZ Hearn is getting in the mix and he was
29:42making some plays today.
29:44He was actually making some plays and even you go back to safety, like we were kind of
29:47talking about this.
29:48I don't remember you were there.
29:49I was talking to Taylor cows about it, that Jalen Hawkins is going to make the team.
29:53Yep.
29:54Jalen Hawkins is doing way too much with the projected starting defense to think they don't
29:59have a role in place for him right now.
30:01Like he's going to make the team.
30:03He's going to be here.
30:04He was very involved again today as well.
30:05Yeah.
30:06We talked about that last show, like where does it fit in?
30:09Like it was a little bit of everything.
30:11Like they had some three safety packages with, you know, Duggar and a Pepper's a little closer
30:16to the ball that he got to play more of that free safety.
30:19So they had all three of them out there.
30:21They mixed and matched him when they just had two safeties out there with Peppers and
30:24Duggar.
30:25So they're, and he's playing a lot of special teams.
30:28He's still playing a personal protector at times on the punt unit.
30:32So there's the, he is very involved.
30:35Again, there was a 53 man roster projection.
30:37I would definitely have Jalen Hawkins on it right now, but someone mentioned outside of
30:46the secondary.
30:47Will Keon White have a breakout year?
30:49We talk so much like what his role is going to be.
30:52He was used all over the defensive line today too, and they are missing a lot of these linebackers
30:57and pass rushers, but there are times where he was kind of stand up on the edge and then
31:01he would kick down and have his hand in the dirt kind of rushing next to Christian Barmore.
31:05So he's moving all over the place to as well up front there.
31:09So lots of young guys, maybe, maybe molding a role here in this defense early on.
31:16Yeah.
31:17They, they got a lot of guys that can do a lot of things and I don't think there's going
31:20to be one definitive look, one definitive lineup, anything like that.
31:25I mean, I think they're going to be moving guys around a ton and you're kind of seeing
31:29that early on that they're getting guys prepared to do different things, I think, so that they
31:32can be creative with it.
31:34Yep.
31:35Yeah, definitely.
31:36I agree.
31:37And Peppers was active as always.
31:40He was really impressive today.
31:41Marte Mapa was pretty involved too, which, you know, again, that's the guy we talked
31:45about.
31:46What's his role going to be in those two minutes he was playing linebacker, which, you know,
31:51you like in those two minutes situations he got home.
31:55I think it was more of a offensive line miscommunication, but one of those would be sacks that ended
32:00the drive.
32:01It was Marte Mapa.
32:02And so he was, he was involved out there and those was, you know, the projected starter.
32:06So that was good to see, but, um, anything else defensively, the corners?
32:12No, I mean, I kind of just, they're giving everybody a shot in secondary.
32:15I think that was, that was the big thing for me.
32:18Yeah.
32:19The corners that that's still the main thing to watch.
32:21I think if you're not going to go out and get like the Steph Gilmore, you know, get
32:25watching how those guys, uh, kind of shake out and I don't, do you have a sense, like
32:32we haven't seen John Jones, he's, you know, he was limited today.
32:35Do you have a sense where he's going to kind of fit into this puzzle?
32:38Do you think?
32:39Cause I think it's going to be in the slot.
32:40I think because if not, I think we'd see much more Marcus Jones or, uh, you know, Sean Wade
32:45playing in the slot or whatever.
32:46I think they're moving John Jones back inside and it's a battle for that second outside
32:51spot.
32:52I don't know that it's a battle at this point.
32:54It's been Alex Austin pretty consistently.
32:56Yeah.
32:57I mean, I agree.
33:00I think it's Alex Austin as of now, but you know, Marcus, Marco Wilson was pretty involved
33:05at times today, but yeah, Alex Austin has been very impressive throughout the whole
33:09spring.
33:10So maybe he's closing down, closing down on that spot, but yeah, the defensive, they just
33:15look like a unit.
33:16That's very familiar with each other, kind of ahead of the, uh, you know, ahead of the
33:21page cause they played together so many years, the coaches are, are, you know, some caught
33:26to do on that side of the ball.
33:27They just look like, you know, for, for June 10th, they look way ahead of schedule as,
33:32as they probably should be.
33:33So, um, special teams or anything else there, defense, I, that's pretty much it on defense.
33:40Uh, special teams.
33:42We saw Joey sly kick for the first time.
33:44Uh, this spring he rotated in with Chad Ryland during one live field goal, uh, session.
33:51He went four for four, Joey sly, Chad Ryland went two for four.
33:54He missed from 37 and 47.
33:57He pushed them both wide rights.
33:59And then Chad got the one in the live kind of one minute drill where the, you know, the
34:05field goal unit comes on and he, and he made that from, from 40 plus there.
34:10So three for five for Chad, four for four for Joey sly, um, still just the consistency
34:16issues for Ryland is worrisome at this point of the year and whether it's sly or the, one
34:22of the, uh, Jake Bates or the, the XFL kickers, like they, they still need some competition
34:28in the air for Ryland.
34:30Yeah.
34:31And this is a big week USFL UFL championship is this weekend.
34:35So, you know, none of the characters have signed.
34:37I think everybody's waiting to get, you know, see what Jake Bates is going to do.
34:41He said, but do you see like the San Antonio was backup kicker was drilling 45 yarders
34:45this week.
34:46So I'd still bring in another kicker, you know, maybe they like what they've seen from
34:50sly.
34:51They let him kick.
34:52But that thing that whatever ends up happening, it's far from settled.
34:55And it's not going to be, I think until we get the initial 53 man roster and maybe even
35:00from there, you know, Ryland's still erratic and that hasn't changed.
35:04I know he said he worked on his mechanics, but even last week when he had the day when
35:07he was four or five, he put two directly over the upright and another one just inside.
35:12So he has not had a good spring whatsoever.
35:15Yep.
35:16They're not, even the makes aren't very pretty.
35:18So, um, who knows, maybe he'll find something in the month off, but, uh, he he's gotta be
35:25more consistent there in the summer.
35:28And this is going to be something that continues throughout the preseason joint practice.
35:33Like, and as you said, maybe even into the season, um, cause that was when, didn't they
35:39find Nick Fulk halfway through a year?
35:40Cause it was like Mike Nugent.
35:42Yeah.
35:43They started with Mike Nugent and then did they go right from Fulk to, from Mike Nugent?
35:47Like he lasted like three or four years.
35:48They had some of the guys in for workouts.
35:50Like they had, I think Kai Forbath was here for a workout.
35:53Young Wayku was on the practice squad at one point, but the only guys that kicked for them
35:56that year were Gustavski, Nugent and then Fulk.
35:59And Fulk.
36:00Yep.
36:01So that's life without a consistent kicker.
36:02You can kind of cycle through those guys.
36:04So that's going to be, uh, definitely a focus, uh, throughout the summer there.
36:08But, uh, kickoffs, we saw a little bit of the kickoff, uh, work today.
36:14We saw them doing that, you know, thing with the ball again, that they lay flat on the
36:18tee and kick off.
36:20Um, Chris asks, you know, what the new kickoff, does it make more sense to have a finesse
36:24kicker or a tackler kick the ball?
36:27That's what we were talking about with Jelani Tavai.
36:29You know, we heard the chiefs say they were playing Justin Reed, uh, who's a safety, but
36:33he can kick.
36:34They were letting him kick off.
36:36So you have another man who can tackle because the kickers really are left on an Island back
36:41there and they will be more involved, uh, in the play.
36:44So, uh, Gerard Mayo says Jelani Tavai has been knocking down his door to try to be the
36:49kickoff man.
36:50So then you have a, you know, a linebacker down there to tackle, but, um, is that something
36:55you're for there or doesn't, I mean, it doesn't look like they're trending in that direction
36:59right now, but is that something you would, you would contemplate?
37:02We'll see.
37:03There's different ways to do it.
37:04Uh, one thing I, I kind of picked up late, so, so let me say that there's different ways
37:08to do it.
37:09Everybody's going to have different strategies.
37:11I think some teams may see, you know, an advantage in that and having 11 guys, I did.
37:17There are some differences though, between the XFL rule and the NFL rule.
37:22There's one I missed in the fine print until last week.
37:26So nobody can move until the ball's hit, but obviously the kicker has to be able to
37:29kick the ball, get a running start.
37:31The kicker cannot cross the 50 until the ball hits the ground or is caught by the returner.
37:37So you don't necessarily have a major advantage.
37:39Like you have an advantage and an extra guy that can tackle, but it would be the same
37:43as the advantage you'd have essentially in a regular kickoff.
37:45It's not like you have a guy that's running down.
37:47There's going to get a headstart and be able to hit the hole at full speed.
37:50So you could do it.
37:52I think, you know, teams may just say, Hey, it's easier for the offense to block.
37:56We just want another tackler on the field.
37:58That would be the logic behind it.
38:01I wouldn't.
38:03Justin Reed is a guy who's been a kicker and I think it was in college, not in high school.
38:08Like he was a kicker at one point.
38:10He can kick.
38:12You're not necessarily, you're not necessarily sacrificing a ton, putting him back there
38:17to do it.
38:19I don't know what Jelani Tevye's background as a kicker is, but if you're just going to
38:23teach him to kick, to have the extra tackler out there, that one doesn't make a ton of
38:27sense to me that at that point, it's not worth it because the direction in which you kick
38:32the ball, the angle in which you kick the ball, the distance, like you need to be very
38:35precise on these kickoffs because your coverage plays are all set up off the ball, falling
38:40in a certain spot.
38:42So I wouldn't sacrifice anything in the kicker in order to get an extra tackler out there.
38:47And if you have a Justin Reed, then Dominic and Sue member back in the day, he was kicking
38:51field goals.
38:52Even a guy like Ocho Cinco, like those guys, Wes Welker, right?
38:57Those guys had experienced kicking.
38:59They were capable kickers.
39:00They weren't new to it.
39:02Maybe Tevye's been a kicker.
39:03I don't think he kicked in college, um, unless he hit it off to the side.
39:08But if anything, I think the happy medium is going out and getting a punter like Tori
39:11Taylor, who's six, five to 35 guys, the same size as Joe Milton, who's a tank, who can
39:18at least get in the way if he gets down there.
39:20But I, I wouldn't, yeah, I, I, I wouldn't, uh, sacrifice anything in terms of kicking
39:28ability to get the tackler out there.
39:30I looked up Jelani to buy kicker and I didn't see anything from his, although he was on
39:37the side field today and he hit a pretty impressive, like 35 yard drop kick field goal.
39:42So maybe there is a little background there for, for Jelani.
39:46Let's see.
39:47I have his high school stats.
39:48I'll have to ask him.
39:49All right.
39:50He's listed as a tight end and defensive lineman in high school and the page isn't working.
39:57Maybe that will load.
39:58But yeah.
39:59Um, again, like this is the kickoff, it's, it's going to be such a continued process.
40:04Like even again, talking about things that will continue into the regular season, like
40:09that's something that, uh, is really going to, you know, take time to watch how teams
40:15unfold like their strategies and everything.
40:18So maybe at some point, uh, they find a benefit, uh, in that, but I have his volleyball stats
40:25from high school now, but that doesn't help us.
40:29He's probably nasty, but that doesn't help us.
40:32Yeah.
40:33I don't know.
40:34Maybe we'll find it somewhere else, but next time he talks, we'll ask him, look, they have
40:38an emergency kicker.
40:39I don't know who it is.
40:40We found out who the emergency long snapper was a couple of years ago, and now I can't
40:44remember, but wasn't it Tavai?
40:47Oh, was it?
40:48Hang on.
40:49Let me see.
40:50I know I tweeted it once.
40:51Or was it?
40:52I think it was.
40:53It was Dietrich Wise.
40:54Wasn't it?
40:55No.
40:56It was Mack Wilson.
40:57Okay.
40:58Tavai was a fullback last year in camp, but then they never used it in the regular season.
41:04They got scared because we were talking about it.
41:09So they'll, they need a new backup long snapper then this year as well.
41:13Maybe that we can't be the, well, I guess if it's on kickoffs, you could be the kickoff
41:16kicker in the emergency long snapper.
41:19Yeah.
41:20Yeah.
41:21It was, we found out last year Mack Wilson was the emergency cause he, he'd long snapped
41:24in high school and a little bit in college.
41:26So they do need a new, I feel like I remember Dietrich Wise saying once he had experienced
41:30long snapping.
41:31So maybe he's now the emergency long snapper, but I don't know if he's kicked.
41:37I don't see Dietrich Wise as a kicker.
41:40This guy's telling us that Jelani Tavai kicked off in a game once.
41:45Against the Panthers?
41:46In 2021.
41:47I don't.
41:48I feel like I would have remembered that unless he was with the Lions.
41:53Yeah.
41:54No, he was here.
41:55No.
41:56Like what?
41:57Did he kick off when he was with the Lions?
42:01He doesn't have any kicking stats on pro football reference.
42:04So I don't believe so.
42:08Interesting.
42:09Okay.
42:10Well, we'll have to, if he's ever healthy and we get a chance to talk to him, we will
42:16have to ask him about his kicking experience and get back to everyone on that.
42:21But any other things you notice from a kickoff, kickoff drills today?
42:29Have you come up with a wonderful master solution for the return team to know when to go yet
42:34when the guy catches the ball?
42:36Sort of.
42:37Well, you can look at the video board, but if I'm the home team and I'm kicking off,
42:43I turn the video board off.
42:44I put like something up there, like get loud or whatever.
42:47So nope.
42:49Still thinking about that one.
42:50Yep.
42:51All right.
42:53Well, any other last notes from practice there?
42:56Oh, well, this is why we couldn't find it.
42:58Yeah.
42:59Okay.
43:00Oh, stupid.
43:01AI.
43:02Um, yeah.
43:03Chris says like, can't, can't the return team just react when the kickoff team starts moving?
43:09Yeah.
43:10But now you're, you're reacting.
43:11You're late.
43:12Yeah.
43:13It's, I don't know.
43:15Could you just have them like, cause you know, when the regular kickoff, they turn their
43:20backs and run backwards.
43:21Are they too close to like, if they just turned around and then like ran five yards and then
43:26turned around towards, then you're facing the guys running after you.
43:31Is it like tight?
43:32Do you think to do that?
43:33Say that again?
43:34Just like you almost treat it like an old return where you run back and then you turn
43:41around to start your block.
43:45But there's not that much room.
43:46I mean, you'd be way too tight to the returner.
43:49I think if I, if I saw a team doing that, I would pooch kick it as close to the 20 as
43:54possible.
43:55Yeah.
43:56Yeah.
43:57No, I don't think that would work.
43:58Yeah.
43:59I think that'd be too tight.
44:00Ooh.
44:01Um, but yeah, I think the big thing that we can know right now is just that the flat football
44:07the off the tee, the kickoff, I gave like Marcus Jones some trouble today, which that's
44:12going to be another thing.
44:13Like you want to feel this as, as cleanly as possible.
44:15So your team can start moving as quickly as possible there as well.
44:19So it'll be fun.
44:21It'll be fun to keep unfolding, but watching unfold, I should say, but yeah.
44:26Any other last notes there?
44:27Anything we didn't hit anything you have in your notebook, uh, from practice that we didn't
44:30talk, talk about.
44:31Um, that's pretty much it.
44:33I believe that was it.
44:34So, um, let's, we can, let's wrap up football in transition very quick, just to a Boston
44:43sports minute.
44:44Cause the Celtics are up two Oh in the finals.
44:47And I don't know if there's going to be a game five back in Boston, TD garden.
44:51I think Kyrie was walking off the court saying, well, I'll see you back in game five.
44:54So he's planning on it, but, uh, if they do come back to the garden, you better be
44:59using game time to get your tickets.
45:01They are the authorized ticket marketplace of the NBA, which makes getting playoff tickets

46:06Last minute tickets, lowest prices guaranteed on game time.
46:10So Celtics go into Boston for game three up two Oh in the series, they survived the bad
46:17shooting game.
46:18They, what they shoot like 20% from three last night and they still won.
46:24They just look like they're in command of this series.
46:27I think not to pat ourselves on the back, but the, just the difference after you get
46:33from, you know, Kyrie and Luca to everyone else to from Jalen and Jason to everyone else
46:38on the Celtics is just so much in the Celtics favor.
46:41The Mavs role players have been very bad to start the series.
46:45And, you know, KP, Derek White, drew holiday has played excellent.
46:48Like those are the guys that are really elevating this thing for the Celtics and they look really
46:54good obviously up to.
46:55So I don't know Dallas, I still like, I don't see them getting swept, but I mean, Celtics
47:03and five Celtics and sits at the worst.
47:05It looks like right now.
47:06I mean, I think they're getting swept.
47:07I, I, I'm at the bar.
47:08I think getting swept.
47:09So first off, like they don't have a guy outside of Luca and Kyrie who can do what true holiday
47:16did.
47:17Yeah.
47:18They don't like, they don't have an answer for that at all.
47:20I just think, I mean, if I'm a Dallas fan, the way game two ended is so, so concerning
47:27for me.
47:28How does Jay, how do you not foul 37 seconds to go seven point game?
47:33I get it's a long shot, but it's the NBA finals.
47:36You're trying to avoid going down to, Oh, what?
47:38A monumental white flag.
47:41What a slap in the face for Jason who's panicking before the game does, you know, goes out of
47:48the Jalen Brown comment.
47:50I, Lucas, you know, more worried about being perceived as hurt and he played really well,
47:56but like there's, there's two, if you're that hurt dude, don't play.
47:59If you're that hurt, you can't play.
48:01He's only hurt when he misses shots too.
48:03No.
48:04Did you see like during the lineups, during the lineup announcements, he had like the
48:07full body wrap on like that Rothlisberger training camp.
48:10What good does that do?
48:11You came out of the tunnel.
48:12You just put that wrap on for what?
48:14Two minutes for the lineup.
48:16Like what's really the point there?
48:18That's coming off as soon as you get in the game.
48:21So he's more worried about being hurt.
48:22Kyrie's completely lost.
48:23I'll give you another white flag.
48:26Am I crazy for thinking that it's a little weird that Kyrie didn't say anything explosive
48:30after came to nothing, nothing.
48:33He gave a very normal relative for Kyrie, but like he gave a very normal press conference.
48:39There was no dig at the fans.
48:40There was no dig at the Celtics.
48:41There was, he was just like, we lost, we lost.
48:44We need to play better, which I know like it's, yeah, it's boring, but it's Kyrie.
48:51No like, oh, well, you know, fans were saying this to me or, oh, you know, the, in the,
48:55in the great picture of the flat earth, this is going to happen.
48:58No, he just sat there and said, cause he doesn't want to do it anymore.
49:01He's done.
49:02He wants to go home.
49:04I think they got Cancun brain.
49:07I think Kyrie looks so bad and it's great, but we'll see.
49:12Like maybe they steal a game of Dallas, but I, I think they're done.
49:16I think they're the Celtics played the worst game.
49:20They will play all series and the Mavericks still lost.
49:25And they have to know that the whole second half like they were in control, kind of the
49:31whole second half.
49:32It felt like other than like that quick eight Oh spur at the end where they cut it to five
49:37or three, that was like a little worrisome, but like they shot 20% from three.
49:43They didn't play well at other parts.
49:45And like, they were still in control for basically the whole game.
49:49And so that's, that's gotta be demoralizing for Dallas.
49:51So maybe, you know, role role players play better at home.
49:55Maybe we get a PJ Washington and he has a Grant Williams game and he hits eight three
49:59pointers or something.
50:01And that's what they need, right?
50:02Like how many times or you've been at the games, but like the broadcast, like they say
50:07Dallas just needs a third person to step up and start scoring beyond Kyrie and Luca.
50:12And they say Kyrie, like Kyrie scoring, but he's not.
50:15So I don't know.
50:17It's it just feels like they're in kind of different weight classes right now, which
50:22has been the Celtics all year.
50:23Like they have the best roster, them and Denver and Denver got balanced, obviously.
50:28They have the best, one of the best rosters and credit to Brad Stevens because he built
50:35this thing where if Tatum isn't scoring like in 2022, it's not just going to fall apart
50:39right now.
50:40They have Drew Holiday and they have Derek White and Tatum's not scoring, but he's still
50:45impacting the game so well in other places, 12 assists last night.
50:50So it's just it's a wagon.
50:53You can say it's a wagon and it really is.
50:55So sweep, you're going sweep now.
50:59I'm picking sweep.
51:00Yeah, I just I mean, walking out there last night and he kind of got the vibe from the
51:04Mavericks team.
51:05Maybe they get home, they sleep on it, they feel a little better.
51:07But that was a team that's ready to wrap it up.
51:09That was a team that knows their.
51:11Yep, yep.
51:13Someone says MVP, Brad, can you give can you give the GM the NBA finals MVP award?
51:20He did win executive of the year, so.
51:22OK, he deserves it.
51:24He deserves it.
51:25But yeah, they play game three Wednesday night.
51:29That is Tom Brady night, of course.
51:31So and last day of mini camp.
51:35So we'll be back Thursday.
51:38They don't have practice anymore tomorrow.
51:40They are doing a kind of a team bonding, some some charity work around Boston, I
51:48believe. So they are not practicing tomorrow.
51:51So we won't have a show tomorrow.
51:53Then last day of mini camp on Wednesday, Tom Brady night, Wednesday, Celtics game three
52:00Wednesday. So we'll be back Thursday at some point.
52:03We don't have the exact time yet, but make sure you subscribe to the channel, turn on
52:08your notifications, follow Patriots CLNS on Twitter.
