00:00The Filipino community in China has gathered to celebrate the 126th anniversary of Philippine
00:06independence and Migrant Workers Day at the Philippine Embassy in Beijing.
00:12In his opening speech, Philippine Ambassador to China Jaime Flor Cruz said,
00:16Every Filipino has a responsibility to the government and to themselves, urging them
00:21to practice standing on their own and contributing to the nation.
00:26With an overseas registration drive available, Flor Cruz encouraged Filipinos to register
00:31for the upcoming 2025 elections, reminding them that their participation in the democratic
00:37process is a vital expression of their hard-won freedom.
00:41Meanwhile, the celebration featured different Filipino food and products, games, and performances
00:48as well as traditional tattooing known as batok by Wilma Gaspili from the province of
00:54Benguet.
00:57Our message to all Filipinos here is to grow our Filipino identity, our own language, and
01:07our own culture.
01:09We are getting stronger if we work together.
