00:00A third opportunity for the fast man of the Giro Next Gen.
00:10A short and flat run from Bergamo to an expected sprint finish in Cremona, one categorised
00:17climb along the way.
00:18And another possible opportunity for the fastest man to this point with two sprint wins, already
00:25in the bank, Paul Manier of Soudal Quick-Step to stamp his authority, although Tim Teutenberg
00:30of Lidl Trek, amongst others, including Gil Gleaver of UAE Team Emirates, would want to
00:37threaten the man in the red jersey.
00:40Another day in pink then for the race leader, Jarno Wider, of Lotto Destiny in the front
00:45row as they rolled towards kilometre zero and the flag dropped and got them underway
00:50in bright and breezy conditions.
00:52Another real difficulties along the way, 139 kilometres and the pink jersey just rolling
00:58off the front as the attacks began.
00:59It didn't take long before eventually the break of the day formed and it was a five
01:04rider breakaway who made it up the road, including one or two riders from the Italian squads
01:10as well as a famous name in Alexander Vinokourov, one of two sons of Alexander Vinokourov himself.
01:18Tim Teutenberg looking relaxed back in the field as Soudal Quick-Step did the majority
01:22of the work with Lotto Destiny in support and the five riders weren't given much of
01:26an advantage throughout the day.
01:28Inside 33 kilometres they had less than one minute.
01:36Relaxed back in the bunch, a relatively incident free run into the finish line, 30km to go,
01:41they still had 50 seconds and the intermediate sprint at Malleo was the moment the Rossi
01:48from the Italian national team just rolled to the front and picked up the points at the
01:51final intermediate sprint of the day as the gap came down ever closer and with 16km to
01:57go they only had 14 seconds.
01:58Alexander Vinokourov started to look rounds as the bunch reared into view behind and the
02:03catch was imminent approaching 14km to go with 11km to go then.
02:08Alexander Vinokourov himself tried to break free of the other four riders in the breakaway
02:14but a succession of different sprinters teams then moving to the front snuffed out the attack
02:19from the man from Astana.
02:21Tudor Pro Cycling and Lidl Trek at this point making sure that all the attacks that went
02:25off the front in the closing kilometres were ridden down as five or six different teams
02:31sharing the work brought it back again with 1.9km to go for the inevitable bunch sprint.
02:39Into the final kilometre then it was a combination of Lotto Destiny, Soudal Quickstep and Lidl
02:44Trek who took it up, Lidl Trek then with the lead out rider on the front as Soudal Quickstep
02:49switched.
02:50Paul Magnier just surfing the wheels a little bit further behind, Stephan de Choutenir on
02:55the front now from Lotto Destiny.
02:58It was Lidl Trek though and Tim Thorne-Tutenberg who opened up the sprint and very nearly made
03:03it to the line but Stephan de Choutenir managed to get the win ahead of the man from Lidl
03:10Trek.
03:11Tim Thorne-Tutenberg frustrated again, Lorenzo Conforti also very much in the mix though.
03:18What a victory for Lotto Destiny, a stage win from Stephan de Choutenir to go with their
03:24race lead.
03:29Brilliant victory then from the man from Lotto Destiny, the young Belgian ahead of Tim Thorne-Tutenberg
03:33and Lorenzo Conforti in third place.
03:36An incident free day for the man in the pink jersey, Jarno Wider.
03:40Still leading by 34 seconds to Mathis Drondel.
03:44Paul Magnier just about holds on to the lead of the points competition but with a reduced
03:48advantage over Tim Thorne-Tutenberg.
03:52And the king of the mountain still on the shoulders of Jarno Wider of Lotto Destiny.
03:59And he leads the best young riders competition as well.
04:07And there is no change in the best Italian rider either, that is still Florian Cagimini.
