The weirdest Player of the Match award I've encountered was from a 2008 Delhi Daredevils vs. Chennai Super Kings match. Chasing 188, Chennai emerged victorious, and MS Dhoni was named Player of the Match for his 33 runs off 33 balls. It's puzzling because he neither finished the game nor took any catches. On the other hand, Gautam Gambhir scored 80 off 49 balls, but since his team lost, that might explain why he wasn't chosen. Albie Morkel, who played for CSK, seemed a more deserving candidate with 30 runs off 15 balls and two wickets. How MS Dhoni got this award is beyond me. If anyone knows the reasoning behind this decision, please share it in the comments section.
