Crowsmill CIC near Bridgnorth has all kinds of things going on like blacksmith walk, jewellery workshops , woodwork , gardening etc etc, and people with dementia and carers came along to take a look at an open event for carers week.

00:00We've got Carers Week here at Crowsmill. Just fill us in on what's happening here to mark that week.
00:06So our offering for Carers Week, we were approached by the council, a lovely lady called Jo Weaver-Jackson
00:13to support carers and carees who are suffering with dementia.
00:19So we said we'd put on workshops in the morning and afternoon for people to come and bring their loved ones
00:26or the people they're caring for, and we would do some activities, whether it was gardening, woodwork, jewellery making.
00:34Just to offer the carers some respite if they wanted it, but equally just to provide some meaningful activities
00:42for the people who are suffering with dementia.
00:45And that's what you're all about here down at Crowsmill, isn't it? It's all about rehabilitation of people
00:49with various things really, dementia, mental health, and using...
00:54What are some of the things you have going on here? We've got woodwork going behind you.
00:57Yeah, so we've got the woodwork going on where they've started off making a bird box today.
01:02Helen's outside doing some gardening, Jan's in the mouse house doing some driftwood workshops.
01:09Sarah's also doing some jewellery making, so there's lots of different things going on.
01:14So lots of choice, which is a big thing we like to do here, is anyone who comes here gets the choice
01:19to go in whichever workshop they want to go in.
01:23And Shelagh, Derek's your better half. He is.
01:27And you've come along here, what do you think of what you're seeing at Crowsmill and what they do?
01:31I think it's wonderful. I'm very impressed.
01:34And is it nice to see Derek here engrossed in... It really is, yes.
01:39It makes a change because I'm watching the jewellery too.
01:42Yeah, yeah. Get him out and doing stuff and yeah, yeah.
01:45And Derek's certainly enjoying himself. You said he was engrossed, didn't you?

02:04He was an engineer.
02:05Ah, so he's not as shy to the tools and the workroom.

02:16He used to make car parts.
02:18Wow, okay. In the black country?
02:20Yeah.
02:21Ah, okay. Okay, mate.
02:23So he knows what he's doing then?
