00:00You know, Hurley, you know, clearly wanting to stay at Connecticut. It feels like he went
00:08pretty far down the road here. At least the optics would play that, that he went far down
00:13and inevitably decided to stay at UConn. We don't know the full reason why. I'm guessing
00:19at some point in a press conference in the future, we will find that out. So that's the
00:23one story. Jacob, the other story here is that if you turn down the Lakers, my gosh,
00:29like sometimes you hear about these stories where the guys take jobs and it isn't even
00:32about the money. It's like, wow, I got, I'm the manager of the Yankees or the head coach
00:37of the Packers or something like that. You know, like this is a prominent job turned
00:41down here, isn't it? It is. It's a little surprising to see the job turned down in such
00:47a manner, but I do understand it to an extent because the Lakers, they still carry prestige.
00:53They're still one of the most recognizable teams in the NBA, one of the most successful
00:57as well. And they have LeBron James, who's still one of the best players on the planet,
01:02if not the best on some nights. And I think a lot of people will say, why would you turn
01:07down that opportunity? I think for Dan Hurley's perspective, he knows he's pretty safe and
01:12entrenched at UConn. He does have a chance to make history. And I'm just not sure how
01:17appealing for him making the jump to the NBA with that Lakers team might be because, you
01:23know, he'll be transitioning from the college game to the NBA if he took that job. And then
01:27he'd have to, you know, work hand in hand with LeBron, who obviously wants to get one
01:32more title, if not multiple, before he calls it a career. So I wonder if Hurley looked
01:37at that as a potential dramatic situation and just said, it's best for me right now
01:42to turn that down. But I do think there's a lot of coaching candidates out there that
01:46will look at LeBron and the Lakers and say, can I really get this team to where it needs
01:51to be to be a championship contender? Because anything less than that is really not acceptable
01:56for the Lakers. And I think it's a hard sell because of the way that roster is built.
