00:00 Malaysian climber Muhammad Ilham Ishak returned home on Sunday.
00:11 The 47-year-old was received by his family and friends in an emotional homecoming after
00:16 his ordeal climbing Mount Denali in Alaska.
00:29 He lost his climbing partner while his other friends suffered high-altitude injuries when
00:34 they were trapped in the mountain due to bad weather on May 28.
00:38 He said he decided to descend to Camp 5 on the mountain by himself to arrange a private
00:44 helicopter to help his stranded friends.
00:47 He said despite the risk of going down alone on the 15-hour journey from the top to get
00:53 help, the move had to be taken immediately as Zulkifli Yusuf's condition had worsened
00:59 with leg injuries.
01:01 He said the rangers told him that he had to come down immediately due to high-altitude
01:06 pulmonary edema.
01:08 The helicopter, which was supposed to take Zulkifli through a bucket, decided to evacuate
01:14 Ilham first, considering the bad weather and his health.
01:18 Zulkifli died on May 29 in a snow cave at 19,600 feet on Denali, and his body was brought
01:25 down on June 1.
01:27 The third climber, Zainudin Lot, was evacuated on May 31.
01:32 He is expected to return to Malaysia together with the remains of Zulkifli on June 15.
01:40 The trio successfully reached the Mount Denali summit, but they were stranded by severe weather
01:45 during their descent.
