Today we’re checking in with some of the World’s top climbers for what is going to be a regular feature on the show. We’re calling it the “Pro down”. Sort of like show down but not quite.
This week we’re not talking climbing, we’re discussing favourite movies of all time. We don’t want to spoil it, but Alex Megos’ answer is by far and away the best.
Next, we’ve got news from Alaska of a frankly sadistic piece of climbing. Lonnie Dupre has managed to climb Denali, the highest peak in North America, in January. Given that the cold on the mountain is legendary even in the spring, the most popular climbing season, it’s hard to imagine what conditions must have been like up there at this time of year.
He climbed the mountain completely alone, carrying everything he needed and breaking trail in temperatures which regularly got down to minus 50 Celsius. This was his 5th attempt at climbing Denali in January so he must like suffering! Well done to him for an amazing achievement.
Lastly, we’re delighted to announce our new partnership with UK climbing retailer BananaFingers. They’ll be sponsoring the show from now on which means we’ll be bringing you exclusive promotions every week from their extensive range of gear, including a whopping selection of climbing shoes. Take a look for yourselves: http://www.bananafingers.co.uk/
