00:04 49 climbers on Mount Kinabalu were brought down safely after heavy rains saw water gushing
00:10 down the summit trail.
00:12 Sabah Parks Director Dr. McLaren Lakim said that guides and porters helped the climbers
00:17 to safety as strong flowing water came down along the trail following heavy rains that
00:22 started around 5.50am on Monday.
00:26 Climbers usually ascend to the 4,095-metre summit at about 2am to reach low peaks before
00:31 sunrise.
00:32 They would then begin to make their descent after 6am.
00:36 It is said a similar incident was reported in October last year and earlier in September.
00:42 As a safety measure, Sabah Parks calls off climbs when the situation is too dangerous,
00:47 especially during heavy rains.
