00:00My main point DRS, I will finish with this, our producer Joe Frizzo and myself were discussing via text on Saturday afternoon into the evening hours, because some of the conjecture around Caitlin Clark, not brought on by Caitlin Clark, either her play or what she has said, has become frankly outrageous.
00:22At the end of the day, we are using the WNBA as a vehicle, as a foundation to spout out whatever nonsense and spin whatever narratives we want.
00:32We don't really do that in a ton of other sports in large part based on play on the actual floor.
00:39Yes, certain individuals carry more notoriety for what they do maybe off the field, but based on simple play, we do not use sport as a vehicle in often times to spin whatever narrative we desire.
00:54And Caitlin Clark is being used as a figurehead to spout off agendas that have nothing to do with Caitlin Clark the individual.
01:02At a certain point, I hope we get back to discussing this sport as a sport, basketball, and what play is like on the floor.
01:13It is not being used with all the notoriety and attention that is put on the W right now in its essence.
01:20Yes, and there is a lot of that going around and also good for the WNBA who get to capitalize on this right away.
01:27And I can't speak to that point enough where it's basically the women's college basketball season ends and like a week and a half later felt like we were playing basketball games in the WNBA just to keep that momentum going.
01:37And she's played well at times, she's played bad at times, but that's a rookie here trying to adjust.
01:41Give her two or three years in this league where she gets up to the physicality, up to the pace of the game, and then we'll see exactly where that team takes off with.
01:48Everybody's enjoying this right now in the moment.
01:50And also, sometimes you say to yourself, you know, all news sometimes isn't always bad news when it comes to ratings here.
01:57Because there's a reason why on a Monday we're saying, okay, we don't have the NBA Finals.
02:01We probably would talk about three or four segments here of NFL like, hey, where's that team total going for the Cincinnati Bengals if Tee Higgins doesn't play?
02:08But we're spending multiple segments here talking about the WNBA and rightfully so because these are the topics we like.
02:13When things go viral, we're going to talk about it.
02:15And it's not going viral.
02:16Did you see Katelyn Clark drop 38 points last night?
02:18No, the viral point is, did you see Katelyn Clark get knocked into the first row here in a flagrant foul
02:23and have the other teams actively celebrating while she's on the ground at this point?
02:27It's wild to see.
02:28And also, adding that fuel to the fire.
02:30Sometimes you can get in front of the podium, and Katelyn Clark does a great job of this, of diffusing the situation.
02:34We're just talking about between the break.
02:36You know, you're losing the biggest game of your life and you're getting taunted.
02:40Only go to the podium and say, that team's really good.
02:42She's a great player, and we talk a lot of trash out here.
02:44It's just us being competitive.
02:45Like, wow, that's taking the high road at this point.
02:47Now, you saw the players from the Chicago Sky don't go to the podium after the game here to answer questions.
02:54What do you do?
02:55Everybody wanted to answer.
02:56And when you talk about diffusing the situation, all you have to do is go to the podium and say, yeah, we were getting back and forth.
03:01I caught an elbow a couple times down the court.
03:03I didn't expect to really hit her all that hard.
03:05Bumped her.
03:06She fell down.
03:07It wasn't meant to be like that.
03:08You don't go to the podium and you celebrate.
03:09It's like, yeah, I meant to do that.
03:11But frankly, I wish I would have knocked her into the first row and out of the game at this point.
03:15It just adds all that fuel to the fire.
03:16But again, we're talking about it here.
03:18So W for the WNBA.
