00:00 Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky believes that the Ukraine and the Philippines should unite to defend their territory against the invaders.

00:16 In his first visit to the Philippines, the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has not stayed in the country for more than 12 hours.

00:25 That's why he's worried that he won't be able to visit the beautiful Philippines.

00:28 I saw just people, people are wearing warm in the hotel and in the palace and in the streets.

00:36 I saw him just smiling.

00:39 Even though Ukraine is in the middle of a war, President Volodymyr Zelensky still deserves to visit our country

00:47 because this is how he values the voice of the Philippines and the whole region in talking about peace and freedom.

00:55 He also made a good decision to come here to personally invite President Bombom Marcos

01:00 to the upcoming peace summit of Ukraine that will be held in Switzerland this June 15.

01:05 It was very important directly to invite the President,

01:08 directly to speak with him about the details what's going on on the battlefield,

01:13 what Russia brought with this war to our land, all this crisis.

01:19 And of course for us it's very important not to give Russia possibility to influence on Asia.

01:25 We are preparing our steps to peace and of course for us it's very important that Philippines

01:33 really support our territorial integrity and sovereignty.

01:36 Now we are starting our peace summit and we are trying to unite all the countries

01:42 to give strong message from all the world to Russia, stop the war.

01:46 Just a few days ago, at the annual Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore,

01:49 President Zelensky announced his decision to stop Russia and China from visiting the summit.

01:58 You said Russia and China are trying to undermine your peace summit in Switzerland this month.

02:04 Do you think Russia and China are afraid that the summit would become such a huge success

02:10 that it could undermine their global influence and how so?

02:14 Yes, because it's a pity that China joined to Russia and now helps them to push the leaders

02:25 not to participate in the peace summit.

02:27 We've been in shock really because we count on all the world, we are open to every country,

02:34 except an enemy of course, except Russia.

02:37 But I think this is a surprise for Russia and their allies that for today we have the confirmation

02:46 from 107 countries and this is a huge result.

02:50 I think that Russia counted that nobody will attend the summit and nobody will participate us.

02:56 But you see that really mostly the world on the side of peace.

03:01 Just like what he said, in his country, what is happening in the Philippines right now

03:07 is the Chinese invasion of our ships in the West Philippine Sea.

03:10 And that's why we have to hold the situation and we have to be together with very strong

03:16 and clean position that nobody can occupy your territory.

03:20 Nobody.

03:21 I think that there are a lot of similar things and a lot of challenging challenges.

03:28 That's why we spoke with the president that now we need unity.

03:34 Because if Ukraine falls down, if Russia will occupy us totally,

03:40 this war, we will see this war in other continents.

03:44 And it can be in your direction, in your region.

03:48 And it's a big tragedy, a lot of casualties.

03:54 If we will stay strong, it means that it will give very important signal to other countries

04:00 not to try even to think how to occupy other independent countries.

04:06 Ukraine is considered a small country compared to Russia,

04:10 but you are still successfully standing up against Russia.

04:14 What kind of lesson can the Philippines learn from your experience,

04:18 especially with all these tensions in the West Philippine Sea

04:22 and all the bullying that we've been experiencing from China?

04:26 When this war began, Russia was the country which is almost four times bigger.

04:34 But the lesson is that if you are on your territory,

04:41 if you are in unity between people, government, soldiers,

04:47 I mean everybody will defend your house.

04:52 The world saw the resilience of our people.

04:56 And that's why my message to you, of course we wish you only peace,

05:01 but you have to be ready and to think about defending shield for the country.

05:08 When asked what makes him strong despite the power of Russia?

05:13 Yes, moral is good.

05:15 I think that Ukrainians are still strong because we are right,

05:20 because we are with a very honest position.

05:23 We are on our land, in our house, with our lovely children,

05:27 and we will stay till the peace will come.

05:32 This is what you want to tell the Filipino people.

05:34 Yes. Thank you so much, first of all, for having us.

05:40 Thank you that you are supporting Ukraine and support peace in Ukraine.

05:44 And Ukraine will never forget on which side you are now.

05:50 Historically, I think you are on the side of truth, on our side,
