01:00 The Lithuanian country is supportive of the position of the Philippines that follows the rule of law when it comes to the South China Sea.

01:08 As the first country to leave the former Soviet Republic,

01:12 this small country is convinced that it should not be subjected to a large-scale settlement of territorial issues,

01:19 but to follow the rules of law or international law.

01:23 As a small country, according to Lansbergis, they can relate to the current situation of the Philippines that is being bullied by China.

01:30 That the country boundaries are invaluable, that nobody can infringe on the country's sovereignty,

01:38 nobody can force you to do things that are against the international law.

01:43 If a country just draws red lines around you, unilaterally removes those lines, we cannot give in to that.

01:52 This was the main principle that we wanted to push back on.

01:56 Lansbergis said that he understands China's intention for expansionism, but...

02:02 Unfortunately, not everything that China is doing is fair game.

02:05 Lithuania has faced a very, I would say, brutal case of economic coercion.

02:11 When Lithuania established non-diplomatic ties with Taiwan, China took a decision to cut economic ties with us.

02:22 That is why he closed his visit here to express his support for the Philippines.

02:27 We believe that cooperation is crucially needed.

02:30 So we have to send this message that if your security is affected here,

02:37 if international norms are affected here, it will affect Europe as well.

02:43 So we have to show solidarity when it matters, or where it matters.

02:47 Lansbergis helped Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo.

02:51 We agreed to deepen our cooperation in various areas such as trade and investments,

02:56 clean energy, science and technology, including health, laser technology, and people-to-people links,
