00:00Name's Luis.
00:02Encantado.
00:03Great. We all have names.
00:05Now then.
00:07Welcome to Mojo Plays.
00:09And today we're taking a look at the 20 best remakes and remasters on PlayStation 5.
00:16But this moment...
00:22...is over.
00:24Before we begin, we publish new videos all week long.
00:27So be sure to subscribe to Mojo Plays and ring the bell to be notified about our latest videos.
00:32Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered.
00:44The PS4 version of Spider-Man was already exceptional in its visual fidelity and technical performance.
00:50But when news broke about the game being used to demonstrate the PlayStation 5's capabilities, we were curious.
00:56Well, Spider-Man Remastered somehow managed to be even better than its slightly older version.
01:09In addition to crispier visuals, Spider-Man Remastered takes full advantage of the game's SSD.
01:15Making it take roughly a second to fast travel from one end of the map to the other.
01:20Heck, just booting up the game and jumping into your save file takes only about 8 seconds.
01:25It's insanely fast.
01:34Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered starring Lara Croft.
01:38They couldn't have titled it any better, could they?
01:46The original Tomb Raider games haven't aged super well.
01:49The controls are super finicky and can make platforming a real hassle.
01:53While this remaster hasn't driven away from the clunky controls,
01:57Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered does manage to tighten things up a bit and even offer alternative control schemes.
02:13On top of that, the collection gives you total freedom in swapping between the original graphics and the new and improved ones.
02:19Just keep in mind that not every part of the remaster fixes the problems of the originals.
02:25They're still great games, just be aware these are still 1990s games here.
02:38Alan Wake Remastered.
02:41If you tried playing Alan Wake in its original state from 2010,
02:45you would still find an enjoyable horror shooter, but the controls and technical performance could get touched up a bit.
02:51Thankfully, Remedy Entertainment did just that in 2021.
03:10Alan Wake Remastered preserves the original game while bringing it up to modern standards.
03:15You got smooth framerates, refined controls, better visuals, the whole shebang.
03:20And hey, for $30, you're getting a pretty good deal on what was one of the coolest games to have come out on the Xbox 360 and PS3 back in the day.
03:35BloodRayne Revamped and BloodRayne 2 Revamped.
03:40BloodRayne 2 Revamped.
03:46Back in the old days of the 6th generation of consoles, we saw a fun assortment of games that let us play as total badasses.
03:53BloodRayne and its sequel were just two of those games.
03:56With the powers of the sexy damn pure rain, you can slice up your enemies, suck their blood to restore life while using them as a meat shield,
04:04enter bullet time to kill enemies in slow motion, and so much more.
04:09And the cheat codes added a ton more fun to our playthroughs.
04:19The Revamped Remasters preserve these gems while making the textures and character models much clearer.
04:25Trust us, these are both worth the $20.
04:35Grim Grimoire Once More
04:48If you've been enjoying their most recent release, Unicorn Overlord, then you absolutely should check out this remaster of one of Vanillaware's very first games.
04:58Grim Grimoire Once More puts you in the shoes of a young girl who finds her school of wizardry has been attacked with many of the other staff and students having disappeared.
05:16In order to bring everybody back, you will have to harvest resources and summon familiars while defending yourself from incoming enemies.
05:23And thanks to modern hardware, you can enjoy the breathtaking artwork complete with its fine details.
05:30This was Vanillaware at their very best.
05:33Not that they ever downgraded, but you get the idea.
05:43Like a Dragon, Isshin
05:45Like a Dragon, Isshin
05:50To Western audiences, Isshin looked like a new spin-off for the Like a Dragon games.
05:55Well, it was.
05:56Back in 2014, it was.
05:58What we saw here in the West was the remake of Like a Dragon, Isshin.
06:02The differences between this and the original are kind of what you would expect.
06:07Better visuals, new voice actors from newer games, so on and so forth.
06:11But the biggest change here was the combat.
06:16Trooper Cards
06:19Trooper Cards are still a core mechanic, though it is optional to use in fights this time around.
06:24Consider it an improvement and a warm welcome for a fun spin-off in the Like a Dragon franchise.
06:34Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 Plus 2
06:37Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 Plus 2
06:42Just when we thought we would never get another new Tony Hawk game,
06:45Vicarious Visions dropped this incredible remake for us in 2020,
06:50with the PS5 version releasing roughly five months afterwards.
06:54A remake of the first two Pro Skater games,
06:57Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 Plus 2 offers up hours upon hours of fun
07:01with its assortment of challenges, jammin' soundtrack,
07:04and incredible customization in both skater profiles and the level editor.
07:15Honestly, it's a real shame that Activision rejected a remake of Pro Skater 3 Plus 4
07:20and instead had Vicarious Visions absorbed into Blizzard.
07:23Such a shame, man.
07:25But this game's great.
07:27Quake 2 Remastered
07:40The remaster for the original Quake was a remarkable package in its own ways,
07:44but Quake 2 got an insane amount of love and care put into its remaster.
07:49All Night Dive Studios had to do was just make the original game crisp and clear in detail.
07:55What we got was that, and all of the expansions,
07:59and the Nintendo 64 version of Quake 2,
08:02and online cross-play support,
08:04and a brand new expansion developed by Machine Games.
08:08And all it cost was just ten bucks?
08:10Ten bucks?!
08:12Yeah, we went ahead and bought this on every single day,
08:15and it was worth it.
08:17It was worth it.
08:19It was worth it.
08:22Yeah, we went ahead and bought this on every single platform.
08:25This right here will keep you busy for quite a while.
08:37Diablo II Resurrected
08:40Diablo II Resurrected
08:45I can't carry anymore.
08:47In case you've been wanting a taste of classic Diablo on PlayStation 5,
08:52well, your best option is Diablo II Resurrected,
08:55and it's a damn good option.
08:57Just like the Tomb Raider remasters,
08:59Resurrected allows you to switch between the new and old graphics of Diablo II whenever you want.
09:04But just to make this remaster more of a devilishly sweet deal,
09:08it automatically includes the Lord of Destruction expansion that was released in 2001.
09:19Oh, you don't got the 40 bucks to get it now?
09:22Well, you can grab Resurrected during a sale, often at 15 or 16 bucks.
09:27And sometimes, you can even get the Primeval Edition for the same price,
09:31which includes Diablo III.
09:34So, keep an eye out for the discounts.
09:38Nioh Remastered
09:51Nioh was already a truly exceptional game when it was released back in 2017.
09:56Developer Team Ninja did a fantastic job at developing an action RPG clearly inspired by Dark Souls.
10:02But what separated it from the pack was the vast enemy variety
10:06that made every scenario feel like a brand new fight.
10:16Under the PlayStation 5 Remaster,
10:18you can now replay the entire game while taking full advantage of the box's capabilities.
10:23And it's not just incredibly fast loading, either.
10:26The Remaster targets a framerate of 120 frames per second.
10:31And if you have any friends who are still playing the original version,
10:34you can still party up with them while playing the Remaster.
10:47Demon's Souls
10:56While we're at it, we should acknowledge the remake of FromSoftware's first foray
11:00into what folks now call the Soulsborne genre.
11:03Demon's Souls was pretty tough to play given the technical limitations of the PS3,
11:08but the 2020 remake developed by Bluepoint Games helps preserve it now and forever.
11:19Demon's Souls can now be enjoyed at a smooth 60 frames per second
11:23with seamless loading as you travel between worlds and walk through foggy doorways.
11:28Of course, don't expect this to suddenly make the game easier.
11:32You will die. A lot.
11:42Destroy All Humans 2 Reprobed
11:55Now, if you would prefer to experience the original Destroy All Humans and its sequel,
12:00you can do that. Both have ports made for PlayStation 4, thus making them playable on PlayStation 5.
12:06But if you want something that looks and feels next-gen with the PS5, Reprobed is where it's at.
12:17Even though the world is just like the original with its hilarious writing,
12:21Reprobed comes with some extra bells and whistles that make it feel like a slightly different game.
12:26New character models, new weapons, a new upgrade system, new enemies, and even some expanded areas of the story.
12:33You will quickly find that this remake of Destroy All Humans 2 is the best game in the franchise.
12:39Take it from a hardcore fan, Reprobed is amazing.
12:43Oddworld Soulstorm
13:06Those who aren't turned off by some puzzle platforming will find much to love in Oddworld Soulstorm.
13:12Right away, you can tell that developer Oddworld Inhabitants was wanting to create the look and feel of an animated epic movie.
13:19The amount of detail in the character models and animation make the whole world seem a lot stranger than they used to be.
13:31As expected, some of the puzzles will probably stump you, but don't steer clear of this one just because there are puzzles.
13:37Give it a good hour or two and you might wind up loving this one.
13:43Overcooked! All You Can Eat
13:58Some of us here at Mojo Plays are big, big fans of the Overcooked games.
14:03I, myself, got to review Overcooked 2 as my first review as a professional.
14:09Like, it has a special place in my heart.
14:12But anyways, we're recommending All You Can Eat as it is one big remake of both Overcooked and Overcooked 2.
14:29And what makes this version so special is not just because of its upgrades and visuals and animation.
14:34It isn't just the meaty selection of different chefs to play as either.
14:38It's mostly for the fact that you have two whole games to play in one package with all of the DLC that both games got after launch.
14:46Big bang for your buck? We would say it's flambé from top to bottom.
14:59Star Ocean The Second Story R
15:03Star Ocean The Second Story
15:06Star Ocean The Second Story has long been known to be the best of the franchise with its captivating story and thrilling combat.
15:13This remake of The Second Story makes it even better.
15:16Now we can relive the 1999 original with gorgeous environments, full-on voice acting,
15:22and a newly remade soundtrack by the original game's composer, Motoi Sakuraba.
15:27By the way, if you don't mind me asking...
15:33Hey, wait!
15:36Honestly, if you love RPGs at all, Japanese, Western, whatever, do yourself a favor and pick this up as soon as you can.
15:45You will not be disappointed.
15:54Dead Space
16:03The original version of Dead Space can still be played on PC and Xbox Series XS,
16:09but unfortunately, it just hasn't aged too well with its controls and technical performance.
16:15That alone should be enough reason to pick up the remake on PlayStation 5.
16:21Dead Space
16:27The 2023 iteration of Dead Space is wonderfully terrifying in how it forces you out of playing things safe.
16:34You can't progress if the only source of power is going to the lights.
16:38Add in the smooth 60 frames per second and modernized controls, and what you have is a remake for the ages.
16:45Don't sleep on this one.
16:51Pac-Man World Repack
17:04One of the biggest problems of the original Pac-Man World is the random spikes in difficulty and the stiff controls.
17:11Seriously, Anubis wrecks in the cave levels are ludicrously hard compared to the rest of the game.
17:16Repack manages to make the game far more digestible by keeping levels to a proper scope
17:21and even reworking the boss fights to make them more engaging.
17:33Plus, Pac-Man can run faster than ever with abilities that are much more responsive.
17:38So if you never got to play the original on PlayStation 1,
17:41this remake delivers a far better experience that will make Pac-Man World more enjoyable for you.
17:47Here's hoping we get a Pac-Man World 2 Repack.
17:56Persona 3 Reload
18:00Persona 3 Reload
18:06Even though the original version released in 2006 for the PlayStation 2, Persona 3 still looks and plays just fine.
18:13The only issue is that it doesn't hold up visually when compared to Persona 5.
18:18But that is no longer a problem with Persona 3 Reload.
18:21Persona 3 Reload
18:28Here, the third game gets more flair in its UI and animations while keeping almost all of the story intact.
18:35Plus, the new voice actors portray the characters so effectively
18:39that it manages to capture each and every one of them as if there was no transition at all.
18:44Resident Evil 4
18:51Resident Evil 4
19:00Folks were already cautious about Resident Evil 4 getting a remake.
19:04It's super hard to top such a widely beloved classic such as that.
19:08Well, Capcom went above and beyond our expectations.
19:11For starters, simply allowing players to move and shoot just like in later entries
19:16helped bring RE4 into the modern era of gaming.
19:29Then you have a tighter focus on the narrative,
19:31which manages to bring out the camp in moments that feel much more appropriate.
19:35Combine all of that with the same level of interactivity the original game had, and it was all over.
19:41RE4 once again became one of the best games ever made.
19:46How is that possible?
19:56Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
20:04Final Fantasy VII Remake was already exceptional in how it beautifully recreates
20:08the first third of the 1997 original.
20:11The music, the story, the world of Midgar, it all felt just as magical as it did back then.
20:17Yet somehow, Rebirth, the second part of the remake trilogy,
20:21came out even better than its predecessor.
20:32From the mini-games to the expanded combat
20:34to the unique ways party members can work together,
20:37Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is one of the most ambitious RPGs we have played in years.
20:42Really, it is worth every minute of your time and every cent of your dollar.
20:58What's your favorite remaster and remake to play on PS5?
