00:06Filipinos continue to import rice from other countries.

00:11According to Professor Antonio Contreras in his segment, Punto de Vista,

00:16based on a survey, 2 tablespoons or 10 grams of rice is wasted by every Filipino,

00:24which amounts to more than 7 million pesos per year.

00:28This is 10% of the projected import of the country by 2024,

00:34which should not be imported if it is also wasted.

00:38Some of the examples are unli rice, which is usually promoted by restaurants,

00:44even cultural practices such as budal fight,

00:47which is a result of not consuming enough food.

00:51Contreras insisted that it is time for the public to listen to the advice of experts

00:57regarding the use of alternative foods for rice,

01:01such as corn and sweet potato, which can also help for better health.
