00:00Tim, do you call this a perfect sprint for yourself?
00:05No, because I need to say sorry to the guys because I couldn't follow today.
00:14It was so hectic and not the best legs I think. So I played a bit Casino in the
00:21end. I was not together with my leader Bert and Lamperty. We were together
00:28until two to go and then I saw Bert try something but I was not in his
00:37wheel. So I need to say sorry. But in the end I can't take the win
00:42for the team. What was your tactic to beat Jonathan Milan? Did you have to
00:47anticipate? I said to Bert if I can enter the cobbles position 5th or 6th and I go
00:54from far on on the cobbles. I go with my speed like I did already sometimes in
01:01Nocrescurs also on cobbles. I tried the same here and it works.
01:08Three stage wins at the Giro and particularly the last stage in Rome. What
01:13does it mean for you in your career? For the people it's a really big win. But for
01:20myself it feels a bit strange because everybody is already yesterday on the
01:26plane drinking beer and everything and yeah today we need to race. We do the
01:32first part easy and then the end is full gas. So for me this kind of race is a bit
01:37special. But for a sprinter it's a really nice victory.
01:43We are in Rome. Have the surroundings helped you to realize that you have won the Giro d'Italia?
01:48Yeah, I'm speechless. It's hard to describe this moment. It's amazing.
01:58And it was not just a walk in the park for you because you have been committed to the sprint.
02:03Tell us your tactic, what you wanted to do and how it went.
02:07Yeah, we want to be in the front. It was a quite technical and bumpy
02:13circuit so we tried to be in the front the last few laps and we did super good
02:19with the boys and yeah it was just unlucky. Not good enough legs but
02:27yeah I think we did the other job so well that yeah we cannot win
02:34everything so we're happy. Looking back at those three weeks what is your best memory?
02:39I don't know a lot of nice memories but yeah for sure
02:49in a while in the time I will see which one was the best moment but I think
02:55in general it was a really beautiful Giro. You had won super big races before.
03:01What is special with the Giro d'Italia? I don't know. The pink jersey is really special.
03:08Crazy experience and all the fans was unbelievably good so yeah it was crazy.
03:19Thank you very much. Thanks.
03:21Dani, we can say that you have won the Giro d'Italia as a domestic for Egan Bernal three
03:27years ago. You have changed team. Was it for being yourself on the final podium?
03:34I want to say thank you to all my team.
03:39They did a really good job on all these three weeks and yeah I'm really happy because we come
03:47here to the Giro d'Italia. We focus on just one objective was to keep and do the podium
03:55on the Rome and yeah I'm really happy to do this. You had this objective. When did it become
04:02a reality? To be honest yesterday in the night because I think in always on the
04:1220th stage on the Giro d'Italia, Monte Grappa, I did the recon a few months ago
04:20and I know that climb and yeah when I did the recon and I see this climb I think
04:26here I for sure this will be the hardest climb on the Giro d'Italia. I take care on this climb
04:34but yeah in the end everything is going well. Do you see yourself on the top spot of a grand
04:41tour one day? Yeah yeah yeah I come to for this subject you know to do the podium and
04:50yeah I'm really happy to be here on the podium. Muchas gracias. Thank you.
04:58How nice is it to celebrate one more podium in the grand tour? Just need to listen to this.
05:04Yeah it was obviously a really nice feeling. Obviously would have loved to have done better
05:11but at the same time you know I think just gave it my best and did everything I could and
05:15got beaten by two better guys so I can be happy with that or proud of that,
05:18the effort and the way we rode as a team as well was just really good so
05:23it's been it's been a great three weeks. You've said yesterday you felt the 38 years
05:29in the legs, how does that feel? Yeah I was just felt pretty average to be honest yesterday
05:34especially in the rain to start with and luckily I felt better on the climb but it was just a long
05:39hard day and it's been challenging it's been a lot going on and in a minute but we just have
05:46to be quiet but yeah as I say it's been tough three weeks but yeah happy to have
05:53at least made the podium. How would you describe today Pogacar's domination?
06:00I've run out of things to say you know he's just incredible the way he rides
06:04not just in grand tours but you know one days and everything else in the middle
06:08he's just an incredible bike rider and having him win by so much is
06:18it's just insane. Congratulations for being here again. Thank you thanks.
06:23Johnny first of all tell us about this mechanical was it a broken chain? Yeah I broke the chain
06:30one lump to go I had to change the bike and we make it back I think four or five days to go
06:41until that moment you know the team was doing a really fantastic job and yeah I wanted to finish
06:49to end this Giro with a victory I have to say it with this mechanical problem I have to say that
06:58I also lost a lot of energies coming back you know the guys also helped me to to come back
07:05and then they guide me until the last meters I was I have to say I was a bit full gas
07:13but and I tried to sprint but Merlier just had more power than me today yeah I think so.
07:19In that final sprint was it the difference between Merlier who is an established pure sprinter
07:25and you who is an upcoming sprinter who can do many more than sprinting? I think also it was
07:30crucial to take the lead before this sector in Pavé he started before he started more or less 300
07:43meters to go because also in the Pavé on the last 250 meters was impossible to push with this
07:50bumpy road and I think also this was the secret today to win and I take it a bit
07:57yeah fifth position was was trickiest to arrive there to to move in the front in the last kilometers
08:06but yes I think this was a secret to win today. Now this jersey Malian Ciclamino not only you win
08:14it for the second time but you wore it for almost two Giro is this the trademark you want for the
08:20coming years? Yeah you know I will try to keep pushing like this we did a nice two Giros now and
08:31we achieved a big goal that was for everyone and we will see for the next years and yeah just happy
08:40with what we achieved. Grazie mille. Antonio can you describe that feeling on stage today?
08:46Ah it was amazing it was like a dream came true here in Rome did these loops here
08:54yeah in the center of Rome with the white jersey was super really really nice I really liked and
09:00enjoyed. And how was the feeling of riding in the streets of Rome did you feel strong?
09:07Ah yeah also yeah today yeah in the beginning maybe it was a bit tired from yesterday it was
09:15really a hard day but yeah then here in the circuit with all the people the fun my family and
09:23friends yeah almost you didn't feel the fatigue so it was super nice. Do you feel so strong that
09:34it's the beginning of your career? Ah yeah I think yeah can be the beginning for sure now
09:42and yeah I feel I feel ready to yeah to to do these big races with these big champions and
09:53yeah for sure this is the the beginning for me here in Giro and I hope to to keep going to do
10:02better and better in the next years. Better and better till where? Magliarosa? Ah yeah for sure
10:09maybe in next year or maybe in two years it will be my main objective yeah come here in Giro and
10:16try to win Magliarosa. Complimenti. Thank you thank you.
