00:00 we must go forward not backward upward not forward and always twirling twirling
00:05 twirling towards freedom here's a look at the brand-new super 7 the Simpsons
00:09 ultimates alien Kodos
00:13 [Music]
00:40 Kodos the alien from Rigel 7. It's definitely not here to eat you or the
00:44 citizens of Springfield but it would certainly like to cook for you. This
00:47 8-inch highly articulated Ultimis figure of Kodos as seen on the Simpsons comes
00:51 with interchangeable heads and tentacle tips and a variety of accessories
00:54 including ray gun and how to cook for 40 humans cookbook. Your wife is quite a
00:59 dish. First things first let's grab the tape measure and see how tall the new
01:03 Simpsons Ultimates Kodos stands and then of course we'll bring in his colleague
01:06 Kang in a second. The figures are by the way gonna be exactly the same. They're
01:09 pretty much utilizing the exact same bodies with slightly different heads.
01:12 Kodos though like with Kang is gonna stand at 11 and a half inches in
01:16 heights or the figure is gonna be about 28 and a half centimeters tall. Yeah
01:21 speaking of Kang sliding over Kodos we're about to have a look at bringing the
01:24 equally large sized Kang. Same bodies lower half same domes also as well and
01:30 the head sculpts default at least that I've got right now are very similar
01:33 although Kang has slightly splinted eye. I just make sure it was singular. The
01:37 drool is also placed in slightly different places. Kang had the drool off
01:40 to the side corners whereas Kodos is basically just drooling from the front.
01:43 Bring in some other figures for comparisons even though Homer really
01:46 doesn't meet them while he's in space. Well so to speak they basically just
01:49 steal him and take him up in space. Here's what he looks like with or here's
01:52 what they both look like with D space Homer. Here's what they also look like as
01:56 well with Mr. Burns and seeing as he was or she was an accessory that came
01:59 included with Kang. It's also what they look like with alien Maggie. Dang now that
02:03 I think about it the likelihood of now getting Sarek the Preparer voiced by
02:06 James Earl Jones in that classic episode is probably never gonna happen now. What
02:10 you could always really do if you have the extra money I mean shelling over
02:13 $80 is already expensive for Kang and Kodos but if you happen to have another
02:17 $80 burning in your pocket just buy another one. Use the other alternate head
02:21 that's not currently on their bodies and bingo bango you got Sarek the Preparer.
02:24 Speaking of preparing if you want to prepare for humans to come included with
02:28 Kodos you get yourself the book How to Cook for 40 Humans. Pesky space dust.
02:33 One of the running jokes was the fact that the title continues to change
02:37 because there's even more space dust on the front cover. Well I did think that
02:41 the book was something I could open. I mean it's sort of giving the illusion on
02:44 the side that there is a seam or or hinge. You can't actually open the book
02:48 nor you can you also remove it from the arm. I thought it was attached in a
02:52 similar way as the ray gun where it would just be pegged in place but
02:55 removing it only just a careful bit I heard a "shhh" almost as if there was
02:59 adhesive coming loose. So I thought leave it alone leave it alone because it's
03:03 never gonna sit properly then in his arm again. So don't try to take this off his
03:07 arm whatever you do and that just basically just plugs in place with
03:10 either one of his arms. I suppose it probably would go on this side rather
03:13 than this side here. There's technically still a hinge joint I think probably
03:17 better belongs on this side of Kodos' body. Also as well he comes included with
03:20 salt. I'm assuming it to be also salt but though looking at the holes on the top
03:25 usually pepper I think is usually the shaker that has the tend to have a
03:28 little more holes on the top. Salt is not something you really want a whole
03:31 steady stream of it coming out but if it's white I would assume it's salt
03:35 unless some someone's playing a prank in their in their kitchen. They're mixing
03:39 around the different shakers. You ever do that? I've gone to a friend's house once
03:42 and he actually had two white containers like this and one was containing salt
03:46 one was containing pepper. I said why would you even do that and he just kind
03:49 of looked at me and laughed. I stopped hanging around with a friend like that.
03:53 And basically again that's just gonna plug in place so really you could have
03:56 the book on one side the salt shaker on the other side. What was that guy's name?
03:59 Gary? Doesn't matter. I don't hang around with Gary anymore. One thing is a little
04:04 disappointing though is that Kodos comes also included the same ray gun that came
04:08 included with with the Kang. Kang and Kodos are exactly the same which again
04:12 kind of just brings back the attention to the idea that I feel like it's
04:15 wasted plastic if we've already got a ray gun already. I mean with Kodos having
04:19 already so many things I just don't think a ray gun was another added thing
04:23 that was necessary. I suppose there's always the option if you want to have
04:26 the figures display with both wielding ray guns. I mean there's that but it just
04:30 seems unnecessary considering we have the exact same one already.
04:33 Unfortunately though my ray gun you can see there's got a little red line right
04:36 there. The other one, I'm not banging the camera, was completely clean so I've got a
04:40 little bit of paint imperfections but I'm probably not gonna be displaying
04:43 Kodos with a ray gun anyway so it's no no harm no foul. The last thing that he
04:48 also comes included with is the saucer and lid. A serving tray I suppose if you
04:52 wanted to give this to obviously anyone that you're abducting. The thing
04:55 unfortunately that's disappointing is that the lid is removable but that
04:58 there's nothing underneath it. Why wouldn't they? I mean if they're gonna
05:00 have this be something that's removable, I mean unless you really wanted to take
05:03 the book and maybe that's one thing you could take the book and put that over
05:06 top. I mean you'd have to peel it away from the tentacle and just rest it on
05:10 top of the tray instead but I just feel like it should have had some extra food.
05:13 Maybe you could get Blinky the three-eyed fish that came included with Mr.
05:17 Burns. Put that inside the tray. Hey there you go that's always an option as well.
05:20 But this also can again just swap it out with any one of his arms. Having done all
05:25 that I mean we easily talk about it. Let's go ahead and remove the arm. We'll
05:28 just pop back in the book and just easily. I mean the one thing that's good
05:32 about all these figures is that the hands that change are very easy to do. I
05:35 mean with the pegs being as large as they are they're very easy to remove,
05:39 very easy to put and change out any of the arms. But let's just pop that back
05:43 out to remove it from here and we'll just put back in Kodos' arms.
05:48 There we go. Let's move out all the accessories out of the way. Getting a
05:51 closer look at the figure. The one actually other accessory they came
05:54 included with and I can't believe I just forgot it is that he also comes with the
05:57 interchangeable head sculpt. It's a little bit different from the one that
06:00 we got from Kang. So bringing back in Kang's. A funny thing about it though is
06:04 that both of the heads that they have they have sort of a smiling kind of an
06:09 uneasy smile so to speak with of course the drool dripping down the front and
06:13 then they both have laughing head sculpts. Just very very similar although
06:17 the one that comes included with Kodos was Kang had the eyes closed. Kodos
06:22 basically has the eye open. The thing though about it is that there's still
06:25 the articulation. I haven't yet removed the tape because I want to show you guys
06:28 what it looks like. So if you if you get this out of the packaging and you go to
06:31 move the eye and it just doesn't feel like something's right there's these
06:34 little adhesives on the side. I've already taken the liberty of doing it on
06:37 this head sculpt for Kodos. I'm gonna do it here for for the alternate as
06:41 well. Just basically peel those off. Once those are peeled off then you've got
06:44 full articulation. Then you move the eye up and down back and forth as well. He
06:49 benefits from actually having two eyes that do that whereas Kang only had the
06:53 one head sculpt because obviously he would have had this head sculpt also as
06:55 well. Getting a closer look at the body there are exactly gonna be the exact
07:00 same. I will say though when it comes to Kodos' dome is that Kodos' dome has
07:05 seems to have a little more scratches on it. I don't know if you guys can actually
07:08 see there's a little bit more I don't know just like these little rub marks or
07:11 scratches all on the plastic. Luckily I've moved it to the back section.
07:16 Obviously this is gonna detach. You basically just pull the whole entire
07:20 canopy off and just remove it that way. I had it though when I was getting
07:24 out of the packaging facing this way and you can see there's all these scratches
07:27 on rubble rub marks on them. I just basically turned it around. When you're
07:30 turning it around by the way there's these little tap pieces. One is right
07:34 here and one is on the back. The thing though about it though is that mine and
07:38 you're probably thinking to yourself this guy just probably broke them. No! When I got
07:42 him out of packaging the little tap pieces were already broken off. See one
07:45 right there and one right there. It's almost as if and this was brand new when
07:48 I bought it that maybe when they were putting it in maybe they twisted it or
07:51 something and they broke the tap pieces right off. A Kang is still fine.
07:56 Kodos' though is broken. I mean it's not a bad thing at all because I mean
07:59 getting it on him isn't so much an issue where I have to worry that those
08:03 things are gonna be the thing that keeps it in place. I mean I could still lift up
08:06 the entire alien really without anything attaching properly in place. One thing
08:11 that's also interesting also too is that when you are putting this down you kind
08:15 of want to make sure you're putting it you want to make sure that you see it
08:18 like I'm just gonna lift this off so you can see see how these are little pieces
08:22 that basically take the front half and the back half and sandwich them together.
08:25 That's basically why you've got that seam line right there but in order to do
08:28 that they've got these little lips on the inside. When you are putting this
08:31 down you want to make sure that you're not clipping the eyes or the ears with
08:35 it. It's not as bad with this head sculpt. I think I noticed it a little bit more
08:38 when I was putting it over top of this head. You just want to make sure it's
08:41 facing the right way. The alternate head sculpt of course has just copious
08:45 amounts of drool dripping out from the bottom of his lip. Again Kang was a
08:49 little bit different. I mean in the sense that his eyes were closed but pretty
08:51 much the exact same style of head. If you did want to change the head though it's
08:55 just once again you pop this off watch those ears again just twist that
08:59 slightly. Ah that's where it was. When you're putting it down these little
09:02 interior clip pieces will hit the ears so you want to make sure you kind of
09:07 turn it this way and then you want to turn it back this way. So doing that in
09:11 reverse steps just going to take that off. This by the way does have
09:14 articulation so we're just going to pop that off and then you're just going to
09:18 replace it with this alternate head sculpt. Being that the bodies are exactly
09:21 the same if you wanted to say for example you want to use this for Kang
09:24 you could easily just use it for Kang because the way they attach is
09:27 exactly the same on the bottom. They are hollow plastic something I did mention
09:32 when we had to look at the Kang figure is that they are using hollow plastic. I
09:36 mean I feel they can get away with it. I would be a little bit more obviously
09:39 annoyed if they were doing it with a regular size figure like when they did
09:42 it for like Devil Flanders for example. Hollow plastic for the majority of his
09:45 body and hollow legs was really like I mean like why why would they have wasted
09:50 producing a figure of that grade with that price point and then only releasing
09:54 hollow plastic. Very disappointing. Kang and Kratos I can get away with you know
09:58 they can I feel they can get away with the idea of using hollow plastic. It is
10:02 really only hollow plastic from basically like the head up. The lower
10:05 half of their body is actually very hard plastic. It has a little more of a
10:08 hollowness to it. A little bit of an adhesive here as well. It's a little bit
10:12 more of a like it's still hollow but it's not as hollow for example as the
10:16 as the head as the head itself and again you've still got articulation there in
10:19 the eye that moves up and down but the arms themselves are going to be the same
10:22 of Kang so there's going to be like a hinge joint right here. You want to talk
10:25 about the articulation? Okay we'll do it right now. So for the figure's articulation
10:29 now that the dome is already off anyways the head does rotate all the way around
10:32 the eye does move up and down it's on a basically like a trackball. Now that once
10:37 you've removed really the adhesives on the side it's very easy to move then the
10:40 eye up and down back and forth then they're going then this also rotates
10:45 some of the balls right I mean I don't think it necessarily needed a ball joint
10:47 I mean they could have easily probably just turned this into a ball joint as
10:51 opposed to a post and then I mean you really wouldn't be able to move it back
10:54 and forth anyways just because it would be so flat against the bottom of its
10:57 base anyways but anyways it just only rotates back and forth the arms rotate
11:01 back and forth those are in hinges so there's a hinge right there it's a
11:05 secondary hinge a hinge so basically it knuckle joints in three different areas
11:08 so you can move it back and forth you can rotate these individually and you
11:12 can rotate these two unless you of course swap the tentacles out with one
11:15 that has an accessory and basically it's gonna have the same amount of
11:18 posability and basically that's the same on this side as well the only thing the
11:22 only part that isn't articulated is the back of its I guess you would consider
11:25 that to be the tail of the aliens that doesn't move but the fronts at least do
11:29 move so they can rotate and they're also in hinges so you can rotate them also as
11:32 well as well around yeah disappointing disappointed that the line is coming to
11:37 a close but at the end of it at least I got the figures that I wanted to I would
11:41 be really disappointed let's just make sure we got don't clip the ears whatever
11:44 you do yeah this one's a little bit harder to get around yeah I would be
11:48 certainly more disappointed if we got the announcement of Kang and Kodos and
11:52 then super 7 just you know unfortunately cancel the license then but at least I
11:56 got the characters I was really the most interested in getting Kang and Kodos
11:59 trying to tell the two apart bodies are yes gonna be exactly the same the dome
12:03 construction obviously is just using the exact same one also and they also come
12:07 with very similar style of heads the benefit at least of them is that they
12:11 are using the same bodies so again if you wanted to use one that came in clue
12:14 with Kang and just use Kang's head on both bodies you can also do that as well
12:17 or if you wanted to not that I would probably consider the idea of it I mean
12:22 I've already spent and it was like over $100 each of these figures by the way
12:26 around 74 to 75 online and that's in US so you have to do the conversion on top
12:30 of that I might maybe consider not that I do I want to get another figure so I
12:35 can get myself Sara to prepare how much do I really need a Sarah to prepare I
12:39 don't know I might just end up sticking with - the thing also about this
12:42 obviously is that they're gonna be taking up a lot more real estate space
12:45 just to bring back in a regular ultimate sized figure here's what they look like
12:48 once again with the space Homer Homer because of the size that he is you can
12:52 of course accommodate a lot more of them on the shelf
12:54 Kang and Kodos they had they had to be scaled the size that they were to of
12:58 course make the proper proportions the way they would be in the episodes but
13:02 they would be a lot more of a bigger figure so you know don't have the space
13:06 available on the shelf these might be ones you might just end up passing on
13:09 but if you're a big fan of treehouse horror like I'm a big fan of treehouse
13:12 horror and especially like the aliens Kang Kodos these are must-have pickups
13:15 of the two figures I think Kodos has the more fun accessories Kang sure came in
13:20 clear with the earth capital hitchhiking sign and as well a fork and a knife but
13:24 I think you can't beat how to cook for 40 humans providing again you've blown
13:27 off enough space dust this salt shaker is a nice touch as well as the serving
13:31 saucer dish as well as the lid even though unfortunately underneath the lid
13:34 there's no food to be had I think that's an opportunity that they could have
13:37 included an Easter egg I suppose if you wanted to you could probably take off
13:41 the book from the tentacle and just have the book displayed underneath the
13:43 serving tray not that it would really necessarily fit with the lid on top
13:47 while I do think that both the figures turned out well Kodos had a little bit
13:51 more QC issues for me I mean again I can only point out the one that I had in
13:55 front of me but it did have more noticeable scratches on the back of its
13:59 dome couldn't help but also point out the fact that that little tab pieces on
14:02 the bottom of the dome not that it necessarily needs it but mine were
14:06 completely broken off paint for what we get on these figures was really good the
14:09 level of accessories at least justify the price that they're being asked for
14:12 because again like these guys are about $20 more than your regular Simpsons
14:16 ultimate figures do you think though that's super 7 still charging way too
14:20 much for the ultimates being the Simpsons or any other ultimate figure
14:23 lines that they're doing right now let me know down below in the comment section
14:26 I will admit though just regular figures just to be a an avid collector of what
14:30 super 7 is doing spending about $54 US usually translates for me to about 70
14:36 to 80 dollars a piece then I have to worry about the shipping that goes on
14:39 top of it Kang and Kodos put me well into $200 to get both figures luckily I
14:43 did get them from from Entertainment Earth so I saved a little bit on
14:46 shipping but still it was a much more heftier bill to pay but you guys think
14:50 they're too expensive let me know down below in the comment section have you
14:53 guys also picked up Kang and Kodos and if you have what accessories do you have
14:57 the figures displayed with currently if you guys in the meantime wanted to pick
15:00 these up for yourself they as far as I know are still available at Entertainment
