00:00 In the years to come, this is the Pogacar Giro d'Italia.
00:04 He counts them up, he's nearly lost count.
00:06 He's number five for Pogacar and counting.
00:10 Another day, another mountain stage in the Giro d'Italia.
00:19 Shorter this time, just 159 kilometers.
00:22 From a start at altitude in Selva di Val Gardena
00:26 to a finish on Passo Broccon.
00:28 An opportunity, perhaps for a breakaway,
00:31 to elude the clutches of Tadej Pogacar and make it to the line.
00:35 Would Julian Alaphilippe be involved?
00:37 The flag dropped on time and then straight up the Cimocopi Passo Sella.
00:43 The big climb topping out at over 2,200 meters
00:47 saw a bunch of riders get up the front, try to force a breakaway.
00:50 And as they reached the upper slopes of the climb,
00:54 it was Giulio Pellizzari from BF Group Bariani who went clear.
00:58 Trying to take the Cimocopi and the 50 points
01:02 in the King of the Mountains competition that went with it.
01:05 But Nairo Quintana and Julian Alaphilippe pushed him all the way to the line.
01:08 It was close at the line between Quintana and Pellizzari,
01:12 but Pellizzari got the Cimocopi as they hit the long descent towards the next climb.
01:17 Julian Alaphilippe on the offensive.
01:20 Roman Bardet, true, too, with Damiano Caruso trying to get in a move.
01:24 Following the wheels of Michael Stora, a chaotic race over the top of the first climb
01:28 and onto the slopes of the next climb, as eventually a 10 rider group established itself.
01:33 Through the first sprint of the day at Redazzo
01:37 and then on to the Cat 1 Passo Role.
01:41 A reduced Maglia Rosa group controlling the 10 riders at the front of the race,
01:47 including Julian Alaphilippe and Pellizzari, Nairo Quintana.
01:51 And it was Pellizzari and Quintana who did battle at the top of the climb once again.
01:55 And once again, Pellizzari picking up 40 points at the top of the Cat 1 climb
02:00 and onto another descent.
02:02 This time, DSM were starting to set the pace in the peloton,
02:05 putting pressure on the Maglia Rosa group, forcing gaps on the descent
02:10 and closing the gap to the front of the race,
02:14 which they eventually caught with just over 60km to go.
02:17 And then on to the Cat 3 Passo Gobera.
02:20 It was Amanual Gabregjabir who went clear as the pace in the Maglia Rosa group stalled,
02:26 the Eritrean going over the top of the Cat 3 climb on his own
02:29 and then joined by Georg Steinhauser of EF Education Easypost.
02:33 Those two riders then started to work together
02:36 through the Intergiro and then onto the first ascent of the Passo Broncon,
02:44 the Albergo ascent this time.
02:47 At this point, it was Mauri Fonseverant and Sudal Quickstep
02:50 who started to set the pace in the Maglia Rosa group
02:52 and Georg Steinhauser went clear of Amanual Gabregjabir.
02:56 Marco Frigo attacked with Christian Scaroni on his wheel,
02:59 but they couldn't get across to this man.
03:01 Georg Steinhauser going over the top of the penultimate climb all on his own
03:05 with a 45-second lead over Gabregjabir in second place.
03:16 A reduced peloton headed by Ineos Grenadiers then went over the top of the Passo Broncon
03:22 and then onto the final climb.
03:25 Ineos Grenadiers setting the pace,
03:27 Georg Steinhauser still with a healthy advantage on his own,
03:30 Ben O'Connor distanced from the group of favourites
03:33 and Dani Martinez attacking Ineos Grenadiers and putting Geraint Thomas under pressure.
03:37 Tadej Pogacar following the moves and then moving to the front
03:41 and slowly but surely riding clear once again of the other GC favourites, Geraint Thomas included.
03:49 Georg Steinhauser to his absolute delight,
03:52 fulfills all the promise that he's been showing us over the last few days.
03:57 A fantastic solo win from the breakaway.
04:00 Class act, strong, clever and victorious.
04:06 Georg Steinhauser announces himself as a big player in road racing
04:11 and Germany have a new potential hero to celebrate.
04:15 What a win from Steinhauser.

04:44 Tadej Pogacar came over the line in second place,
04:46 casually taking a few more seconds in the general classification to shore up his enormous lead.
04:51 A third second place at the Giro d'Italia to go with his five wins
04:55 and then Antonio Tiberi won the sprint for fourth place,
04:57 third place I should say, picking up four bonus seconds ahead of Martinez and Thomas.
05:03 The winner though, Georg Steinhauser from Tadej Pogacar,
05:06 a famous victory for the young German.
05:08 Pogacar extended his lead slightly in the general classifications,
05:13 now leading Dani Martinez by seven minutes and 42 seconds,
05:17 who holds on to second place.
05:18 No change in the Maglio Ceccomino standings in the first two places.
05:22 Milan still leading Groves
05:25 and a slight reshuffle in the King of the Mountains
05:30 as the young Italian, Pellizzari moves up into second place to Pogacar.
05:36 Antonio Tiberi extended his advantage slightly
05:38 of a team in Adenzone at the finish line in the white jersey standings.
