00:00 The season is in full swing, so the tourist Great Poland does not stop.
00:04 Today we would like to show you Pniewy.
00:07 I promise you that it will be delicious, we will see some interesting places
00:11 and at the end there will be a small history lesson.
00:14 But before we start working, let's eat something.
00:27 Just before Pniewy there is a bar under the tower in Podrzewie.
00:30 It is one of the most famous points on this route,
00:33 which is famous for its schabowy and golonki,
00:36 but I hope we will catch up on some breakfast menu.
00:39 I am convinced that it will be a really tasty episode.
00:54 Let's go.
00:55 We have arrived in Pniew.
01:12 The most characteristic monument of this city is the building of the former post office.
01:16 It reminds us of the location of the city on important transport routes
01:20 and of the enormous importance of this fact for its economic development.
01:24 The building dates back to the mid-19th century.
01:27 In addition to the post office, it also housed a manor house.
01:30 Very famous personalities have settled here,
01:33 including Adam Mickiewicz, Juliusz Słowacki or Ignacy Kraszewski.
01:37 Perhaps in the future this building will look completely different.
01:45 From the place where the post office was located,
01:48 we took you to the Leonardo restaurant, which is a few hundred meters away.
01:52 In the past, there were workshops here in the old forge,
01:55 in which elements for barrels were produced,
01:58 the Bogajewicz family known here and the liquor storage.
02:11 We chose a place that will have a good location,
02:15 and the history of this place has fascinated me.
02:19 I think that the old architecture has a timeless character
02:25 and it plays a great role in running a business
02:29 where the climate of the interior is certainly important.
02:34 There was a liqueur and liqueur distillery here before the First World War.
02:40 Maybe one day we will be able to recreate these old recipes.
02:44 In the courtyard of our tenement house, there were old forge workshops,
02:50 where elements for barrels were produced,
02:53 including lamps and cutlery.
02:56 So there is also an idea of recreating the old forge
02:59 with a purpose for a banquet table.
03:04 I hope that plan will come true.
03:07 The next episode
03:11 My guest today is Tomasz Szymorek,
03:15 the chef of the Leonardo restaurant.
03:18 Good morning, Tomek.
03:20 Tomek, tell me, what was your direction when creating the current menu?
03:24 Okay, I'll say it so short.
03:26 We are in the Leonardo restaurant, which has existed for almost 15 years.
03:30 It is a very unique place when it comes to the region where we are.
03:34 We have changed the profile of the restaurant from a European restaurant
03:38 with Mediterranean elements to a regional cuisine.
03:42 We wanted people to know that they eat products from here.
03:48 We have a new menu, a smoked duck tartar,
03:53 with wild garlic, nasturtium, smoked yolk,
03:58 delicious spices, freshly roasted pepper.
04:02 We also have a Wielkopolska sauce,
04:05 which is the closest to the menu.
04:10 It is served in an unconventional way,
04:13 because it is baked with eggs, with roasted duck,
04:17 with smoked trout from our farm nearby.
04:21 It looks fantastic.
04:23 We also serve beef from the Pnewa ABP.
04:26 We are in Pnewa.
04:28 This beef is delicious.
04:31 I will serve you a steak called Tomahawk in a moment,
04:34 which we were afraid to introduce to the menu,
04:38 but the response was very positive.
04:42 We wanted to do it in a reservation system.
04:45 The Pnewa ABP beef and steak are sold every day,
04:48 like a real chef.
04:50 I invite you to the restaurant.
04:52 I am very pleased to be the chef here and I am very proud of it.
04:56 [music]
05:23 Pnewa has always been famous for hospitality.
05:26 Here we had a restaurant in the old post office,
05:30 which you probably saw.
05:32 In many old records there are mentions
05:36 that there was delicious coffee in Pnewa,
05:38 the best on the whole route from Moscow to Paris.
05:42 Today, Pnewa is also famous for hospitality.
05:45 There are several interesting places where you can stop.
05:49 One of the most interesting places is our baths.
05:53 They refer to the royal baths.
05:56 Maybe they are not royal, but they are Pnewa.
05:59 You can have a good time in beautiful conditions of nature,
06:02 but also in a beautiful environment.
06:05 We cordially invite you to Pnewa.
06:07 It is said that good coffee is like first love.
06:10 It stays with you forever.
06:12 This one tastes really great.
06:14 Just like ice cream.
06:16 [music]
06:39 As the chef mentioned,
06:41 on the route from Paris to Moscow,
06:43 the best coffee was in Pnewa.
06:45 And from credible historical sources.
06:47 We know that in this building,
06:49 behind me, Napoleon himself drank a little black coffee.
06:53 It's time to move a little.
06:55 Now we take you to the city baths.
06:57 [music]
07:04 We are in the city baths.
07:06 It's a fantastic place for relaxation and fun.
07:09 You can also drink a very good lemonade in the Lemonade pub.
07:14 [music]
07:40 Right next to the city baths, there is a sanctuary of St. Ursula
07:44 and a monastery of the Sisters of Ursulans.
07:47 St. Ursula is the patron saint of the city,
07:49 and the sanctuary is a place of worship visited by many pilgrims from Poland and abroad.
07:55 There are retreats and days of concentration in the sanctuary.
07:58 It is worth stopping here for a short walk.
08:01 [music]
08:12 If you have the strength for one more walk,
08:15 it is worth going to the city park.
08:17 There is a palace in it from the mid-18th century.
08:20 It is the oldest Pnevian Sacred Monument.
08:23 Currently, a general school is located here.
08:26 The late-Baroque building was built in the years 1739-1756
08:32 for the then owner of the city, Władysław Szolderski.
08:36 At the end of today's episode, we visit the Bracki Castle.
08:41 It is a building of a manor house character from 1914,
08:44 intended for parties and banquets up to 120 people.
08:52 For those who want even more impressions, there is also a shooting range here.
08:56 However, this is not surprising,
08:58 because the Kórkowe Bractwo Strzeleckie,
09:01 whose history dates back to 1698, operates here.
09:05 That's all for today.
09:07 In the next episode, we invite you to the nearby Szamot.
09:10 See you!
