00:00Today another stage on the Adriatic, we start from Martinsicura and we will arrive up to Le Marche.
00:10But I want to enjoy it today, before visiting the city I want to enjoy this beautiful sun that reaches the sea.
00:22Hi, my name is Diego Gastaldi, I am a traveler and documentary filmmaker.
00:26This year I decided to follow the tour of Italy to discover the beauties of the beautiful country and the Made in Italy. Follow me.
00:39Good morning, Mayor.
00:40Good morning, hello Diego and welcome to Martinsicura.
00:42Thank you, thank you. Where are we?
00:44We are in one of the symbol places of our city, Torre Corlo V,
00:48museum since 2009, a bit of the history of our territory.
00:53It is a museum with archaeological finds.
00:55There have been two excavation camps since the early 90s
00:59that document that there was an old Roman city here.
01:02An old market has been found, public offices,
01:05an intact pavement, various finds of the Bronze Age and Iron Age.
01:10There is a Longobard tomb, so for us it is really a flower in the eye.
01:14This is a museum open to the public, so both winter and summer,
01:19but it is not the only attraction we have.
01:21Our city also focuses a lot on sports facilities.
01:24We like to point out a splendid structure, a skating rink,
01:28a skating rink that is right in front of the sea, wonderful,
01:30which is also the seat of regional championships.
01:32Last year we hosted the national skating championship.
01:35Above all, it is an important activity also from a social point of view.
01:38It brings together young people, children, it is a sports activity,
01:41so it is the most important thing there is.
01:43Clearly now the tourist aspect is the most important from this point of view.
01:48We are very happy to host the start of the Giro d'Italia,
01:53which will certainly give us a very important showcase
01:57and will allow many people to see what we are,
02:01our peculiarities from an eco-cultural, environmental and gastronomic point of view.
02:05We are a reality that certainly has a lot to offer and to show,
02:09so we are preparing ourselves for this beautiful day.
02:18CESAR OTTAVIANO GUSTO
02:34Good morning, Assessor.
02:35Hi Diego, welcome.
02:36Thank you.
02:37Welcome to Fanoc, a Roman colony, a colony of Julius Fanestris,
02:41wanted by Cesar Ottaviano Gusto.
02:43Look, I find it there, which indicates the whole city.
02:46Here, in 207 BC, right on the banks of the Metauro River,
02:50there was a great battle, the Romans against the Carthaginians,
02:53against the Carthaginians of Astruvale.
02:55The Romans won this battle and built here a temple dedicated to the goddess Fortuna.
03:00Hence the Roman name of the city, Fanum Fortunae.
03:04What we are walking on is the consular road Flaminia.
03:07You should know that 200 years after the Battle of Metauro,
03:11Cesar Ottaviano Gusto wanted to build this consular road to connect the two seas,
03:16the Mediterranean Sea and the Adriatic Sea,
03:19and he built a real colony here, the colony Julius Fanestris.
03:26Here, instead, this is the Duomo di Fano, the main place of worship of the city.
03:31A curiosity, here in 1536,
03:34Hippolyte Aldobrandini Fanese was baptized, who was Pope Clement VIII.
03:40And this is the Fountain of Fortune,
03:43obviously a symbol of the city of Fano,
03:46above you see that there is the goddess Fortuna,
03:48but beware, this is a representation of the 1500s,
03:52because in reality the real goddess Fortuna, the Roman one,
03:55is inside the Archaeological Museum.
03:59This at the time was first a Franciscan convent,
04:02then it was consecrated church, but today it is in this condition,
04:05without a roof, beautiful, the place of many cultural shows, many events,
04:10one of the most visited places in our city.
04:13I must say, many people also come to get married in the city of Fano
04:17and choose this place, because it is truly magical.
04:22Fano has always had a maritime tradition,
04:25an economy dedicated to the sea, very important.
04:28And the main economy of Fano is linked to the fishing of clams,
04:32in fact it has an important fleet of clams,
04:35and above all, in recent years,
04:38there has been an important establishment of stabulation,
04:41packaging and shipping of clams, in fact, all over the world.
04:46We are 75 boats, and they are all part of a consortium,
04:50and every day we can make 400 kg of clams.
04:54Regulated, the clams are taken, the good ones,
04:58and the small ones are put back in the sea.
05:00This mix helps the repopulation.
05:03So, with the regulation of fishing,
05:06we have the possibility of fishing clams all year round.
05:10It is a sustainable fishing, we respect the environment,
05:14and the Adriatic clam, and the clam, above all,
05:18of the Pesaro compartment, is a top product.
05:22One of the typical dishes, which is the poor one,
05:25and also that you eat with more taste,
05:27obviously, are spaghetti with clams.
05:29In Fano, they are called spaghetti with purasses.
05:32From the port, you can see fantastic places,
05:35which recall that story.
05:36The Ponente pier, with the quads,
05:38the trabucchi, called like that, we call them quads,
05:41which are the points where, with the big sea,
05:44in short, the fishermen fished for fish.
05:48We are on the pier, sea, trabucchi,
05:50today, the whole stage of the sea,
05:52started by Martin Sicuro, with the nacelles for the sepia,
05:55until arriving in Fano, the capital of clams.
05:57And now, I just have to say goodbye,
05:59and we go to make spaghetti with clams.
06:01Ciao!
