00:00 Chaka brah.
00:01 You have to say something else other than Chaka brah.
00:05 Whatever, spots in LA.
00:06 Fine, go again.
00:07 Okay, okay.
00:08 One more time.
00:09 I'm Naomi.
00:10 I'm Katie.
00:11 I'm Josette.
00:12 And we're the band Moona, and today we're going to be showing you some of our favorite
00:14 spots in LA.
00:15 Please join us on a mukbang of our favorite places to eat.
00:19 And other stuff as well, other than food.
00:21 Chaka brah.
00:22 [Laughter]
00:23 [Music]
00:35 Well guys, we're at our favorite part of the episode.
00:38 These are our favorite spots to go to.
00:39 And if you can eat all these food, #moonamukbang, and we'll see you there.
00:44 [Laughter]
00:45 What we have in front of us is Courage Bagels.
00:47 Courage is an amazing, probably in our opinion, best bagel in LA.
00:51 Sourdough bagel.
00:52 Prepare to wait.
00:53 There's a line around the block, but it's for good reason.
00:54 They are delicious.
00:55 Canyon Coffee.
00:56 I'll try the coffee while you do the bagels first.
00:57 Echo Park.
00:58 Delicious coffee.
00:59 We like coffee.
01:00 You could get some work done there.
01:01 They have little snacks too.
01:02 These tomatoes, it's not tomato season, but these are beautiful.
01:06 Delicious.
01:07 The color of them.
01:08 You waited in line, you had Courage for breakfast.
01:11 Now this is our ideal lunch spot.
01:13 So we have a plate from Joy, which is in Highland Park.
01:17 Delicious, delicious food.
01:19 If you're going to Joy, you need to get the Mojo Tofu.
01:23 This is the thousand layer pancake.
01:25 You need to get it with chili and basil.
01:27 This place is cheap and everyone's nice as hell.
01:30 There's usually a line out the door.
01:32 And then you want to talk about Jitlada?
01:33 This is like a critically lauded.
01:35 What's the name?
01:36 Jonathan Gold made it famous.
01:38 RIP Jonathan Gold, one of the true LA greats.
01:41 It's an amazing Thai restaurant.
01:43 It's just the food is good, it's going to be freaking spicy.
01:46 They're known for their seafood.
01:47 Today they got us tofu pad thai.
01:49 So we're going to just go ahead and--
01:51 I ain't ever had that tofu pad thai.
01:53 Is that your go-to?
01:55 Yeah, I was going to say.
01:56 It's my order.
01:57 We're curry.
01:58 We're curry guys.
01:59 I'm a green curry girl.
02:01 This is coconut sticky rice with mango.
02:03 Classic Thai dessert.
02:04 It is so good.
02:05 So we have a lot more food.
02:07 I need to stop eating.
02:09 [LAUGHTER]
02:10 All right.
02:11 Wait, you should keep that.
02:12 You'd be shocked.
02:13 You should keep that in the video.
02:14 Can I have this back later though?
02:16 I'm from San Diego, Jo's from LA.
02:18 Jack of all--
02:19 Southern California.
02:20 We had to put forward some of our favorite Mexican food.
02:23 This is cena, which is a vegan pickup and delivery only.
02:28 But it's very authentic flavors.
02:30 Look at this stuff.
02:31 Could you tell this isn't meat?
02:32 Gorgeous.
02:33 Remember the first time we had it?
02:34 Yeah.
02:35 We were losing our freaking hands.
02:36 We order this a lot if we're working on--
02:37 if we're in rehearsal or something like that.
02:39 But I do feel like this is a pitch for people
02:41 that are meat eaters.
02:42 Like, if you're coming to LA, there's
02:44 so many good vegan options.
02:45 Yeah, you'll have your mind blown.
02:46 And meat substitutions.
02:47 So give it a try.
02:48 Typically, there's foil, and you kind of fold it.
02:50 Yeah, so we're kind of in a foil-less, vulnerable
02:52 situation here.
02:53 Here.
02:54 Yeah, go for it, girl.
02:55 Here, hold on.
02:56 Give me a bite.
02:57 Do you want me to do this or no?
02:58 No, I'm going to.
02:59 No, I'm staying for them.
03:00 Whoa.
03:01 Yeah, thank you.
03:02 I still get an edge.
03:03 You got a bite for each.
03:06 Yeah, and I'm a green sauce.
03:08 I would recommend the green sauce.
03:10 Carne asada, al pastor, and chicken.
03:12 [SCREAMS]
03:13 [LAUGHTER]
03:14 This burrito won't kill you.
03:15 The first time we went, I ate this whole thing,
03:17 and we had to walk home.
03:19 You remember this?
03:20 I almost puked.
03:21 It's good we had to walk.
03:22 I almost puked.
03:23 On the topic of good options for vegans,
03:26 this is like a vegan burger restaurant called Monty's.
03:29 We first went to Monty's--
03:30 The one in Koreatown.
03:32 Yeah, in Koreatown.
03:33 Holy shit.
03:34 When it first opened.
03:35 And we'd never had impossible meat before.
03:37 Dude, that was insane.
03:39 You, me, and Kelly went on Valentine's Day.
03:41 Yeah, for a few years, me and Joe
03:43 and Josette's girlfriend spent Valentine's Day
03:45 together at Monty's.
03:46 Once again, vegan.
03:47 This is something I'm going to cry about eating.
03:49 Look at this chicken.
03:50 How do they do this?
03:51 I know, it's crazy.
03:52 Look at this shit.
03:53 This chicken is still crispy, guys.
03:55 Yummy.
03:56 It's good.
03:57 This is my favorite thing.
03:59 Yeah, this is what I want.
04:00 But I couldn't stop eating it.
04:02 Monty's also hooked us up with loaded tots,
04:04 which I've never had before.
04:05 If I'm getting milkshake, I'm getting chocolate,
04:07 and that's final.
04:08 So I'm going to let these two attack it.
04:10 I think we're very curious.
04:11 Yeah, I am staring at it thinking,
04:13 this is not who I am.
04:14 This is good.
04:15 Uh-uh.
04:16 But--
04:17 Get a sip.
04:18 This shake is really good.
04:19 Is it really good?
04:20 Yeah, yeah.
04:21 It's strawberry.
04:22 I don't know why I said it so bitchy.
04:24 I'm like, if you can't tell--
04:25 It's strawberry.
04:26 It's time to put an end to your amazing day of eating
04:29 with the extraordinarily delicious
04:32 Quarter Sheets Pizza.
04:34 Holy mackerel, this place is awesome.
04:36 I'm going to let y'all know right now
04:38 that I had this for dinner last night.
04:40 And let me tell you, this place is hyped up.
04:42 There's a line out the--
04:43 Out the goddamn door.
04:45 It's the Courage Bagels of Pizza.
04:46 I will tell you, though, this is really worth it.
04:49 And I'm not willing to say this shit.
04:50 This is really worth it.
04:52 It is my favorite.
04:53 It's my favorite pizza.
04:54 I don't even know what it is about it.
04:56 It's actually-- you know what's interesting?
04:57 It's because it's crispy edge, cheese on crust
04:59 around the edge.
05:00 It's also fluffy.
05:01 It's giving courage a little bit.
05:03 It's like a sexy little place.
05:04 This place has major cute factor, major ambiance,
05:09 cute date.
05:10 Like, this is a cute second or third date.
05:12 Yeah, big time.
05:13 Quarter Sheets, best pizza in LA.
05:15 Welcome to heaven.
05:16 Yeah.
05:17 So we're going to show you around our city.
05:22 We're kind of imagining that you have a day in LA with us.
05:26 And these are the places that we would want to show you.
05:29 We are kind of east siders, so we're
05:32 kind of living in this area.
05:33 Yeah.
05:34 Hey, wait.
05:35 This says Atlantic Ocean.
05:36 This is a trick.
05:37 Trick.
05:38 Wrong.
05:39 Trick map.
05:40 Wait, y'all.
05:41 Who did this?
05:42 Trick map trying to [BLEEP] us up.
05:44 Who made this?
05:46 Was it you?
05:47 OK, does someone have a pen?
05:49 Pen, please.
05:50 Do you want to fix it?
05:51 Yeah, let's fix it.
05:52 OK, so just in case you guys were wondering,
05:54 LA is next to the Pacific Ocean.
05:57 Malibu.
05:58 Malibu, yeah.
05:59 Oh, this is nice, actually, because then you
06:01 can fill in extra stuff.
06:02 Glendale.
06:03 So yeah, I would say the lesbians care about Glendale
06:06 as well.
06:07 Pasadena.
06:08 You can start Pasadena right-- it starts right there.
06:11 Dina, AltaDina.
06:13 We're all going to have slightly different things
06:15 that we would want to take you to do.
06:17 But I'm just going to say I would want to take you
06:20 on a hike in Griffith.
06:23 And around here is like the LA River.
06:26 I know you thought it was funny because it's kind of ugly.
06:28 No, the LA River is beautiful.
06:30 It's wild.
06:31 I would walk on the LA River like near-- around Griffith.
06:33 And I would take you on a bike ride.
06:35 [LAUGHTER]
06:37 We're competing now.
06:38 If I was going to go hiking, I wouldn't go there.
06:41 Sorry, Katie.
06:42 I would go somewhere up here.
06:44 You would go to the--
06:45 I would go to Angeles Crest.
06:47 It's the mountain range above essentially all of Los Angeles.
06:50 Right, Los Angeles National Forest.
06:52 Yeah, some could call it that.
06:53 One of our favorite bookstores is in this neighborhood.
06:56 Skylight Books that's in Los Feliz.
06:58 And there's like a little movie theater
06:59 that's a cute place to go.
07:00 It's called the Los Feliz Theater.
07:02 That's a great little indie movie theater.
07:04 There's a venue in LA called Largo where it's very common for comedians
07:09 to have like residencies and have other friends come.
07:12 Or once a month.
07:13 Well, that's what a f***ing residency is, isn't it?
07:15 But yeah, we like to go there and see our friends play.
07:17 And occasionally, we will also be on the stage.
07:19 I heard that Fiona Apple used to come and play in that front room.
07:22 Yeah.
07:23 All the time. It was pretty cool.
07:24 And then if you want to like cap off the night or something,
07:26 I would suggest hitting up Ruby Fruit, which is the new lesbian bar.
07:30 It's in a little strip mall in Silver Lake.
07:33 That's where I would like cap off the night.
07:36 This says Grassel Park.
07:37 This says Grassel Park. It's Grassel Park.
07:39 My favorite place, Grassel Park.
07:40 Once again, the intern is getting fired.
07:42 This is awesome.
07:43 So, in our opinion, Hollywood is one of the biggest tourist traps.
07:52 A lot of tourists like think that they mainly need to be in Hollywood.
07:55 But we want to play a game of smash or pass.
07:59 Hollywood edition.
08:01 So, we're going to show you guys how to handle Hollywood.
08:03 Let's go.
08:04 First thing.
08:05 Ripley's Believe It or Not.
08:07 Don't.
08:08 You want to smash.
08:11 I would go.
08:12 Haven't you been there?
08:13 Hell yeah, I've been.
08:14 Haven't you?
08:15 Just think about it.
08:16 It's fun.
08:18 Here's my crazy Ripley's thing.
08:20 I went as like a young, like teenage girl.
08:24 And there was a--
08:25 It looks like there's a girl who's on a beach but naked with a towel.
08:30 It looks like you're going to go into the other room and see her naked.
08:35 But then when you go in the other room, she goes away.
08:37 And I spent like 15 minutes trying to figure out how to access--
08:42 How to see the body?
08:43 Yeah, because you're a f***ing gay girl.
08:45 Wait, how old were you?
08:46 I was like, I just don't get how this doesn't work because it seems like she would be there.
08:51 I would go to Ripley's if you would.
08:53 I would totally go.
08:54 If a group of people said to me--
08:55 So, two out of three, smash.
08:57 I'm too smug.
08:58 Can I pass it, please?
08:59 You know what?
09:00 I don't know where I'd go.
09:01 Honestly, zoom into their faces.
09:03 So scary.
09:05 We would go to see these lovely young gentlemen only.
09:08 I'll go for our induction, honey.
09:11 I want to pass, and so I'm going to.
09:13 We're insane in that.
09:15 They did him really dirty.
09:17 That's crazy.
09:18 Okay, next one.
09:19 Whatever, I would go.
09:20 We would go!
09:24 And we have been.
09:26 Big time smash.
09:27 Magicians, I don't know how you do it.
09:30 I don't.
09:32 And that's kind of one of the main things about magic.
09:34 No, no, no, no, but we went to a mentalist show, and honestly, how the hell did he do it?
09:40 I'm so confused.
09:41 I think the magic castle is pretty hard to get into.
09:43 Yeah, you can't just go.
09:45 You need to know somebody.
09:46 Or it's really expensive.
09:47 You need to know a member.
09:48 So, if you're having to pay--
09:50 If you're able to go, go.
09:51 Like, a lot of money, I don't know, but it's worth seeing if you have a friend of a friend of a friend who can get you in.
09:58 Friend of a friend of a friend.
09:59 And it's fun, you gotta dress up.
10:00 It's dress up, it's like suit and tie required.
10:03 Don't eat like a pork loin in there.
10:05 You're gonna have the most expensive meal you're ever gonna eat in your whole life.
10:08 You can go to the Harry Houdini room.
10:10 Big time smash.
10:11 Is this the Hollywood Cemetery?
10:14 Go to Hollywood Cemetery for, in my opinion, three reasons.
10:19 One, Inside LA or another meditation group is doing meditation in the Masonic.
10:25 I think that's fun shit.
10:27 Two, there's a show at the Masonic Lodge.
10:30 And three, Sinespia is playing a movie.
10:33 At the Hollywood Cemetery.
10:34 So fun.
10:35 We went and saw But I'm a Cheerleader at Sinespia around the time our album came out and that was really fun.
10:40 Yeah, you can walk around, there's peacocks.
10:42 Yeah, smash it.
10:43 Smash.
10:44 We all smash.
10:45 Last one.
10:47 [buzzer]
10:49 Skip.
10:50 You don't need to go there.
10:51 It's okay.
10:52 You don't need to be there.
10:53 Unless you're walking to Wrigley's, believe it or not.
10:55 Wrigley's?
10:56 I said Wrigley's.
10:58 It's overcrowded.
11:00 It's stinky.
11:01 There's nothing to be said really.
11:03 Zoom in right here, you see this raptor?
11:05 That's where it is.
11:07 That's where Wrigley's is.
11:10 Yeah, don't go to the Starwalk.
11:13 Honestly, just skip it.
11:14 Don't be on Hollywood Boulevard if you don't have to be.
11:16 So if you're coming to LA with us, you need to know some lingo.
11:24 So we're going to go over some basic LA slang with you.
11:27 First on the list.
11:29 Dank.
11:30 Dank.
11:31 Damn, that burrito was f***ing dank.
11:33 Dank.
11:34 It's Southern California slang.
11:35 Dank means good.
11:37 It means good.
11:38 It's weed slang.
11:39 It's from marijuana.
11:40 It means that weed be stanky.
11:42 If it's particularly stinky, icky, then it's dank.
11:46 I can't.
11:49 If you're reading this, you might need to read it with vocal fry.
11:54 I can't.
11:55 Do it.
11:56 I can't.
11:57 That was good.
11:58 I wanted to go tonight, but I just can't.
12:00 So you should know that if you're going to be in LA, a lot of people are going to be saying that they can't.
12:04 Do anything.
12:05 They're flaking.
12:06 They can't keep their plans.
12:07 Yeah, yeah, yeah.
12:08 They can't make it.
12:09 I would meet you for dinner tonight, but I just can't.
12:11 Can't leave my couch.
12:13 The 405, the 101, I would say "the."
12:17 Yeah, "the" over everything.
12:18 I don't understand how to say a freeway without saying "the" before.
12:21 I agree with you.
12:22 I actually don't know how to speak about it.
12:24 I heard there was a point where they all had actual titles, the freeways, and then when freeways went national,
12:31 then it changed to a number system, and the "the" is left over from that time.
12:36 That is what I heard.
12:37 Animal style.
12:38 Animal style, In-N-Out burger.
12:41 I don't really actually like it.
12:42 It's Thousand Islands sauce, which is--
12:46 And cheese.
12:47 Yeah, and grilled onions.
12:48 Are there pickles, too?
12:49 Yeah.
12:50 And In-N-Out is quality shit.
12:53 In-N-Out is so good.
12:55 And that's the West Coastness popping up, because other people will say Shake Shack, but f*** you guys.
13:00 In-N-Out for life.
13:01 Okay, babies, that's about it for Muna's favorite spots in LA.
13:05 So we hope you enjoy. Go eat some good food, and maybe we'll see you around.
13:10 We probably won't see you. LA is too big.
13:12 But if we do see you, then hell yeah.
13:14 Shaka brah.
13:16 (laughing)
13:18 (whooshing)
