00:00 It is NFL schedule release day could be considered a national holiday on this Wednesday, May
00:10 15th.
00:11 We look back on what we know so far around the National Football League, some of those
00:15 marquee events and games we have brought you to start off this week.
00:19 And by the time we get to the end of tonight, all 32 NFL teams will have their exact schedule
00:26 released.
00:27 We're going to start to get some leaks on this Wednesday as well.
00:31 Donnie, there is nothing like the aura of the National Football League because they
00:36 can make a day where they tell us matchups.
00:39 We already know just on what day of the week and at what time make it seem like it's a
00:45 made for TV event with all the public attention and notoriety it demands.
00:50 That is why the NFL remains king.
00:53 Yes, and you can go over the schedules and pick out your wins and losses, which will
00:57 absolutely be wrong by the time those games actually get there because we don't know who's
01:00 actually going to be playing.
01:01 But it's fun.
01:02 The fanfare is great because you get that anticipation.
01:04 You want to see your opening game is you want to see who those primetime games are against,
01:08 who your hated rivalry where that's going to be.
01:10 And also the celebration of which home games are going to be stolen from your franchise,
01:15 which harms your franchise, which you know me, I love the Eagles.
01:18 They got a home game stolen from them against the Green Bay Packers, but also the Vikings,
01:21 Bears, Jaguars and Panthers also got home games stolen from them as well.
01:25 And the reason I say that is the NFL is a business.
01:28 They're all in it together.
01:29 If you're going to play overseas and make more money, of course, the NFL is going to
01:32 say yes.
01:33 But sometimes it is tough, though, like the Eagles.
01:35 Wouldn't you rather play Green Bay at home in your own building and play them in Brazil?
01:39 That's a massive win for Green Bay right there.
01:41 And then you take a look at the other game in London, the Jets and the Vikings here,
01:44 the Vikings at home, like the great advantage in a dome.
01:48 Now you play on the basically road for both teams here.
01:51 That's a massive win for the Jets.
01:53 Same thing for the teams that if you are playing on the road for an overseas game, that is
01:56 a huge win for your franchise.
01:58 If you give up one of your home games, that's a massive loss for your franchise in a game
02:02 that you should have home field advantage and don't have now.
02:05 And DRS, I do kind of joke about the NFL making the release of the schedule a made for television
02:11 event, but it is notable and significant.
02:13 And even when it comes to the betting odds, I have said a few times here this week on
02:17 this show.
02:18 When we start to get the games out for those marquee events, they're not going to post
02:22 a week 14 spread in a divisional game, but the first few weeks of the year, you'll get
02:27 those early looks.
02:28 I love to see how the odds makers compare insert X team in that environment against
02:33 their opponent.
02:35 You get the week to week evaluation, not just season long win totals or divisional prices
02:40 or that number to win Super Bowl 59.
02:43 It's another piece of significant data that you can use to estimate how your favorite
02:50 team, your least favorite team, your rival is set to perform and is expected to perform
02:56 in the 2024 NFL campaign.
02:59 And DRS is right.
03:00 As of this Wednesday morning, the five game international slate has been fully unveiled.
03:06 We knew about the Sao Paulo opener, the opening Friday night of the year in Brazil between
03:11 the Eagles and the Packers.
03:13 We have the three London games, the Vikings and the Jets on October 6th, that game inside
03:18 Tottenham Hotspur Stadium the following week.
03:21 It's the Jags and the Bears also at Tottenham and then at Wembley the following weekend,
03:25 the Patriots take on the Jaguars, the Munich game in Germany.
03:30 It's the Panthers and the Giants.
03:32 So those lines starting to come out as well.
03:36 Here's what we know so far.
03:37 Some of those notable games for the 2024 regular season, season opener, Chiefs and the
03:42 Ravens.
03:43 Kansas City will also get a second straight AFC North opponent week number two on that
03:48 Sunday against the Bengals, Packers and the Eagles in Brazil.
03:52 The Jets open up their campaign on a Monday night once again on the road in San Francisco
03:58 after we were done yesterday, DRS on TEL that first short week Thursday night football game
04:04 of the year on prime is an AFC East divisional duel enlisted as a pick them as of this moment
04:11 in Miami, the Dolphins host the bills.
04:13 Yeah, it's good to see because sometimes you get some of those Thursday night football
04:17 games as those are supposed to be the games that you give the teams that can't really
04:21 make it on the prime time, a prime time slate.
04:24 But now that you have different partners in the NFL, you're not buying into a scheme that
04:27 goes, hey, by the way, you want that Thursday night package.
04:29 You're going to get the worst football teams on the worst time slot here and the teams
04:33 that are going to be injured and unprepared and you might miss out on some superstars.
04:36 That's no longer the case.
04:37 I love that.
04:38 Take a look at that second week here, the bills and the Dolphins on Thursday night,
04:41 that divisional matchup that is going to be a massive game.
04:44 I love the fact that that's right off the bat.
04:46 And also the NBA does a great job with this.
04:49 Similar now to the NFL.
04:51 We want to see these marquee matchups right off of the bat.
04:54 And if you're looking at these first games from Thursday and Friday to Sunday, Monday
04:58 night, the next Thursday, the NFL is doing you right right now because they are fantastic
05:03 looking games right off the bat to get us excited.
05:06 Tom Brady will call his first game that opening weekend in Cleveland.
05:09 The Cowboys, a slight road favorite in the dog pound against the Browns.
05:13 And by the way, San Francisco, the Super Bowl favorites, nearly a touchdown favorite for
05:18 that opening Monday night.
05:21 [inaudible].
05:24 (upbeat music)
