00:00 An exclusive Euronews poll is predicting a win for the incumbent Greek centre-right New
00:06 Democracy party in the European Parliament elections in June.
00:12 It shows the party lost 3% of its support between March and May, but still came out
00:18 on top.
00:20 It's been one year since Greeks went to the polls and elected New Democracy, led by Prime
00:25 Minister Hiriakos Mitsotakis, and the party appears to be retaining its popularity over
00:32 its moderate left-wing rivals Syriza and PASOK.
00:37 The Superpoll put Syriza in second place and PASOK third.
00:42 Mitsotakis leads Syriza's candidate for Prime Minister, Stefanos Kasalakis, by more than
00:47 20%.
00:51 Greece is somewhat of an outlier.
00:54 Most of the European ruling parties are likely to face setbacks in the elections.
01:00 Mitsotakis' New Democracy is expected to win one more seat in the European Parliament.
01:07 And Syriza could keep its four seats in the European left benches.
01:13 PASOK appears set to secure three MEPs to the Social and Democrats group.
01:18 The Greek Solution party is expected to grow and send two MEPs to the European Conservatives
01:24 and Reformers.
01:26 The Communist Party of Greece could have two seats in the non-attached group.
01:33 With the far-right Spartans movement out of the race, the ultra-conservatives' votes could
01:38 be absorbed by New Democracy.
01:43 The ruling party has taken steps to move away from the far-right, with Mitsotakis recently
01:49 legalising same-sex marriage.
01:55 The country's Supreme Court barred the Spartans over its alleged ties with the banned far-right
02:00 Golden Dawn party.
02:05 The results mean that controversial New Democracy candidate Fredi Boleri could have a shot at
02:10 entering the European Parliament.
02:13 Boleri is serving a two-year prison sentence in Albania for election fraud.
02:19 will begin on June the 9th.
