00:13 Is there any kind of nerves for you anymore when a show comes back? You know it's got
00:17 an audience, you know it's doing well but you're just hoping it's going to resonate
00:20 the same way?
00:21 Yeah, yeah you really do. You really do. Because it's one thing to believe in it yourself and
00:25 I do believe in the show and I love this series myself as a maker of it. But you always just
00:31 hope people will agree. That's the thing. You're like well we might put it out and be
00:36 really proud of it and 20 people go yay and everyone else doesn't care. So the fact that
00:41 it's been met with the reaction that it has is fantastic.
00:44 Is there any sort of secret sauce that you pick up when you're working on a project like
00:47 that? The last time we've seen you in TV for a prolonged period of time I guess was with
00:52 Sherlock and I guess when you started that you didn't know just how well that was going
00:55 to resonate and how successful that was going to be. Was there any element of that in the
00:58 Responder? Like oh we're on to something here, are you just shooting in the dark?
01:01 A bit of both I think. I think I know when I'm on to something when I read a good script.
01:07 But then there are so many things it has to go through before it comes out to the public.
01:11 Like you know so many potential pitfalls that you just hope you kind of miss those pitfalls.
01:16 But yeah the script is everything. You know what I mean? It's everything in terms of the
01:20 starting point. Then directors, cast, crew, design, composer. You know like I think this
01:27 series of Responder has maybe even surpassed the first. I'm delighted about it.
01:31 And very quickly I was catching up with Stephen Merchant earlier. We had a chat about how
01:35 The Office is obviously coming back again in the US as a sort of like a kind of spin
01:40 off. I think it's going to be another Office but new cast, new people. I thought it was
01:44 talking about extended universes and whether that would be a good idea or maybe a blueprint
01:47 to see whether it would work over here. Do you think you'd be ever interested if they
01:51 gave you the call? Never again?
01:52 No, never. No.
