00:00 Everyone expected this to happen one day. It's your first Grand Tour, your first Grand Tour win, but a very tight one.
00:07 Yeah, I mean, this is what we were looking for, to get a stage win. The first two didn't go perfect and today we had to fight for it because it was a really tough final.
00:22 The team really committed, although we weren't sure before. Because of the guys I was able to get in position and to take the win.
00:32 The team remained committed, but what is left from the team? Because your team has been very unlucky so far, you didn't have many resources. How did you use the other teams?
00:44 We knew we had to improvise a bit, especially in the last K. Normally with Christophe, we had almost certainty to get me in position.
00:55 Today we had to not really stick to one plan, but just see how the race went and how it evolved and do what was necessary to get me in position.
01:09 You had 32 wins already as a pro, but now is this a new beginning for you?
01:14 Yeah, I mean, this was the step I was looking for, or at least the win. I was really looking forward to my first Grand Tour and after already quite some wins, I think this one is really one I was dreaming of.
01:30 We had seen a lot of you already this week at the Giro, but are you a lead-out man now?
01:38 No, no, but today was a super hard final and Molano did a super good job to be in the front all the time with us.
01:49 I tried to help, but it was not enough for the victory for Molano. If I can help, especially in this hectic final, and these bad roads here, up and down, it's better for me to be in front and help my friend for victory.
02:12 This is the end of the first week of the Giro. Since 2002, we hadn't seen a race leader with such a big gap. Do you realize what you have done?
02:24 It's a comfortable gap to go to the race day, but I'm really looking forward to an easy day tomorrow and just relax and try to not think about the race for one day. It's going to be hard, but I'm looking forward to tomorrow.
02:42 Visit Naples, visit Pompeii?
02:46 I don't know, it's my first time here, but for sure we go on the bike. We see around the scenery already. All the past days we did some nice roads, beautiful cities.
03:01 It's good to be for a race day in Naples. Let's hope for some good pizza and good cappuccino.
03:11 Johnny, something like last year, there was a breakaway rider caught just before the end and you are second again. Is it frustrating?
03:20 Yes, like last year, second. It was a really tough final, I have to say. I don't know, we tried our best in the final. The guys did a perfect lead-out, I think.
03:42 I think I was missing a bit of legs. As I said, the little climbs were really hurting for me in the final kilometers. Luckily, tomorrow we have a race day.
03:59 We will see, we will try to race as much as possible and we will see for the next stages.
04:08 You have a nice advantage in Magliacci Cremino. How will you enjoy your race day in Naples? Is it special to be in Naples for that?
04:16 I think so. I think it will be a special race day in Naples. It will be quite nice for sure. We will do a little bike ride here in Naples with a nice coffee stop and maybe a little dessert during the coffee stop.
04:36 We will try to race as much as possible.
04:39 Thank you.
04:42 Kian, your team, a super team, didn't win a race since March. It's been one and a half months of bad luck and bad accidents. How do you welcome Olaf Koei's victory today?
04:54 It's for sure really amazing. After all the bad luck we had, we are a strong team here but also a really young team. We were maybe not completely the big favorites. It's amazing that we can finish off the first week with a victory.
05:14 You finished off the first week with the Maria Bianca. Did you expect to already have the Maria Bianca? How do you feel having it with two weeks to go?
05:23 It's also just amazing. Being in the top five and having the white jersey for now, I really didn't expect that. It's still a long race to go. The hardest stages still need to come. The situation until now is really good. We survived already a lot of tricky moments.
05:47 It's your last day tomorrow. Will you just enjoy Napoli, Pompeii or will you make plans for the next two weeks?
05:53 Let's say enjoy it first and eat some pizza and ice cream I think tomorrow.
05:59 Thank you.
06:00 Please.
06:01 [END]
