00:00 Hello there, welcome to your latest Met Office weather forecast. Well, for some of us tonight
00:05 offers another opportunity to see the northern lights. Geomagnetic activity will be a little
00:10 bit weaker than it was on Friday night, but for the northern half of the UK, certainly
00:15 another excellent opportunity to get out and look at the northern lights. To the south
00:19 may be a little bit more difficult compared to the night just gone, but if you do have
00:24 a long exposure camera you probably will still see the lights from time to time. So a little
00:30 bit more detail on the weather for tonight. For many parts it's a fine end to Saturday
00:35 with some clear skies. Some low cloud and some mist will seep in to the east from the
00:40 North Sea as the night goes on. So probably the best opportunities here will be around
00:45 midnight before the cloud rolls in. A few showers may well just creep in to the far
00:50 west of Northern Ireland too, but for most of us it should be a dry night and a mild
00:54 one. Temperatures in most towns and cities stand firmly in double figures. So we do start
01:00 Sunday off on a fairly dry note. Quite murky across some northern and eastern areas, but
01:05 the mist and low cloud will burn its way back towards the North Sea. Showers do develop
01:10 come the middle of the morning across parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland. And as we
01:14 go through the course of the day, showers also develop across parts of Wales and western
01:19 and northern England. Some of these showers will be heavy, potentially thundery at times.
01:24 Warnings are in force across the UK as we go through the course of Sunday and into the
01:29 early hours of Monday. So do stay up to date with the latest warnings on our website. But
01:34 if you do have any travel plans, some of these showers will be quite torrential, so do allow
01:38 some extra time for your journeys. But in the sunshine, feeling very warm once again,
01:42 especially in the east, we could see highs reaching 27 degrees down towards the southeastern
01:47 corner. Into Sunday evening, the showers continue to rumble on. Some of these showers once again
01:55 will be quite heavy, thundery, potentially torrential downpours in places. But for many
02:00 parts we do turn a little bit drier as we go into the small hours of Monday morning.
02:05 But quite cloudy, but mild once again. I think the lowest temperature is generally around
02:10 10 to 11 degrees in the north. So for most of us, I think we'll start Monday off on a
02:15 rather grey but dry note. Still some heavy showers around across parts of Scotland and
02:20 northeastern England. But eyes really down towards the southwest. This next band of rain
02:25 moves in. Some heavy rain at times across parts of Wales and southwest England. So a
02:29 very different flavour of things here compared to recent days. And with winds also increasing
02:35 at times. So feeling, yeah, very cool here. But elsewhere, again, cooler than recent days.
02:40 But still I think we'll see highs reaching around 20 or 21 degrees in the sunshine. But
02:45 still the risk of some showers right throughout the afternoon across parts of Scotland.
02:51 Then looking ahead towards Tuesday and Wednesday, really low pressure is going to dominate across
02:55 the UK, bringing further spells of rain or showers. In between we will see some sunshine
03:02 and temperatures, although they will trend a little bit closer to near normal for the
03:06 time of year. I think in any sunshine it shouldn't feel too bad out there. But you can find out
03:10 more about the weather where you are over the next five days on our website or our app.
03:15 And don't forget to follow us on social media. But for me, for now, take care and I'll see
03:19 you again soon.
