00:00 Welcome to Mojo Plays and today we're taking a look at the 10 best remakes you can play
00:11 on Nintendo Switch.
00:18 Before we begin, we publish new videos all week long, so be sure to subscribe to Mojo
00:23 Plays and ring the bell to be notified about our latest videos.
00:28 Mario vs Donkey Kong
00:35 Many GBA games will never see the light of day as handheld experiences fade further and
00:40 further into obscurity, at least the handheld experiences we knew from back in the day with
00:45 the GBA and DS and what have you.
00:47 Of Nintendo's catalog, Mario vs Donkey Kong is one of the few to be brought forward to
00:52 the modern era, and it came with some new bells and whistles.
00:56 For starters, Mario can be joined by a second player controlling Toad, allowing for co-op
01:02 play.
01:03 Then you have the addition of two new worlds, Slippery Summit and Merry Miniland, both incorporating
01:10 their own mechanics for brand new puzzles.
01:13 Whether you enjoyed the 2004 original or if this is your first time, Mario vs Donkey Kong
01:18 is an enjoyable ride for speedrunners and Mario fans alike.
01:27 Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee
01:35 We can understand why Let's Go may not be everybody's cup of tea.
01:40 Not everyone is into games based around motion controls, you know.
01:43 Regardless, this is a pretty solid remake of Pokemon Yellow, one of the biggest improvements
01:48 made is how battles that were once random are no longer a problem.
01:53 You can now easily walk or run around pocket monsters you've already faced before, or
01:57 the ones you just don't want to fight.
02:00 This was a massive help in filling out the Pokedex quicker too, while also giving the
02:04 player more choice in how they want to farm for XP if needed.
02:08 As for the rest of the game, there was something pleasantly nostalgic about playing a new Pokemon
02:13 game that still followed a more traditional level design like the original games did.
02:22 The Legend of Zelda - Link's Awakening
02:31 Like Pokemon Let's Go, the remake for Link's Awakening has its warranted criticisms.
02:37 Really Nintendo, why the omnidirectional movement instead of the full 360 degrees?
02:42 This was made in 2019.
02:44 Come on.
02:45 Even so, there is still plenty to love with this game.
02:48 From the beautifully rendered land of Hyrule to the simple but charming character design,
02:53 Link's Awakening retains the look of the Game Boy original while taking advantage of
02:57 the Switch's visual fidelity.
02:59 Plus, the Mario Maker-esque dungeon builder was a welcoming addition with its own puzzles
03:04 and combat challenges.
03:11 Our Ocean - The Second Story R
03:20 In all honesty, some of you in the comments were yelling at us for not really giving this
03:24 game much attention.
03:26 Thanks for bringing this game to our attention because dang, this JRPG slaps.
03:33 A remake of the PS1 original, Second Story R brilliantly shows why so many adored it
03:38 back in 1998.
03:40 With highly detailed locations, wonderfully designed sprite work, and a brilliantly written
03:46 story, this game gives us hope for Star Ocean's new future.
03:49 Even veteran fans have been raving about how the pacings improved, the voice actors portray
03:54 each character well, and random battles no longer being a problem.
03:59 Perhaps Star Ocean will soon explode in popularity, much like other RPGs like Persona and Final
04:04 Fantasy have in recent years.
04:11 Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe
04:19 When talking about the Wii's best games, Kirby's Return to Dream Land often finds
04:23 itself left out of the conversation.
04:26 In case you never had the pleasure of playing this for yourself, the Deluxe remake does
04:30 an excellent job at preserving the game while offering new ways to play.
04:34 In addition to the main campaign, you will also have access to a second campaign that
04:39 explains how Magolor wound up in Dream Land in the first place.
04:43 You can also enjoy a wealth of fun mini-games with friends in Merry Magoland, and collect
04:48 prizes that can help you in the main game.
04:50 Of course, you could just play this game because almost any Kirby game is a guaranteed fun
04:55 time in general.
04:59 Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot Camp
05:06 Just when we thought we would never see the Advance Wars games ever again, well, in terms
05:11 of new releases, Nintendo and WayForward put together this remake of the first two games.
05:17 Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot Camp reintroduces the classic GBA games with brand new visuals,
05:23 voice acting, and unlockables.
05:25 While you can play through the main campaigns and call it a day, Reboot Camp also offers
05:30 local and online multiplayer where you can wage war with your friends as your favorite
05:34 commanding officers.
05:36 You can even create your own maps to play around with the game's mechanics, and possibly
05:40 discover new ways to challenge yourself or your friends.
05:43 If you've been looking for an inn to get into strategy games, Reboot Camp is the best
05:48 welcome map for you.
05:57 Another Code Recollection
06:04 Nintendo showered the DS with a ton of great exclusive games, but many would get lost in
06:09 the weeds.
06:10 Another Code was one of those IPs.
06:13 As a young girl named Ashley, you'll solve puzzles as you search for your missing father.
06:18 With some reworking, Recollection preserves some aspects of the original two games while
06:23 fixing up the story and redesigning puzzles to make them playable on the Switch.
06:27 Plus, a brand new art style helps the games stand out from the crowd.
06:32 If you miss the days of point and click adventure games, Another Code Recollection is well worth
06:37 your time.
06:46 Pokemon Mystery Dungeon - Rescue Team DX
06:57 We know we already put another Pokemon game on this list, but this isn't a remake of
07:01 another one of the core games.
07:03 The Mystery Dungeon games are much more focused on dungeon crawling and tactical combat.
07:09 You'll also have to locate lost Pokemon in caves and scorched forests and bring them
07:13 back to town to give them a place to stay.
07:16 But the biggest mystery aside from who is causing the chaos is, why in the world did
07:21 you get turned into a Pokemon?
07:23 While the simple visuals may not be appealing for some, we promise you that there is plenty
07:27 to love about this remake of the original DS game.
07:36 Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition
07:47 We know that this is classified as an "expanded remaster", but the game looks and plays
07:53 so differently than the original that it may as well be a remake.
07:57 In addition to bringing the original game up to the new visual standards of newer games,
08:02 Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition is much more technically sound than the original
08:06 game ever was, and it boasts better music, visuals, and UI.
08:12 Not only that, it also features a special epilogue that adds brand new elements to the
08:16 story while focusing on our darling Melia.
08:19 So it's an already fantastic Wii game, made even better for the Switch.
08:24 How can you not put this on this list?
08:38 Super Mario RPG
08:46 There was already so much to love about the SNES original.
08:49 The combat, the writing, the music, the world, it all helped make Super Mario RPG such a
08:55 wonderful game.
08:56 Thing is that it spent decades being stranded on the SNES and only brought to Virtual Console
09:02 a couple of times.
09:03 So what could the Switch do for it?
09:05 How about new fully animated cutscenes, completely redone music by the great Yoko Shimomura,
09:12 and a new mechanic that puts greater significance on perfectly timed inputs that help expedite
09:17 battles.
09:18 Really, it does everything the original Super Mario RPG did and more, and it's why every
09:24 single Switch owner needs to pick this one up.
09:36 Have you played any of these RPGs for yourself?
09:38 And are you planning to pick up Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door?
09:47 Let us know down in the comments, and be sure to subscribe to Mojo Plays for more great
09:51 videos every day.
09:52 Thanks for watching.
