After the spree of tornadoes this Friday, you can look forward to some calmer weather for the final days of April.
Transcript
00:00Current storm system is producing
00:01some active severe weather.
00:02Most of it has been through the
00:05state of Iowa as of recently,
00:07but we do have thunderstorms
00:08as far South as Texas with them.
00:10Flash flooding is currently the
00:12ongoing threat across Little Rock
00:14area and into northeastern Arkansas.
00:15We're getting into the wind threat
00:17associated with those thunderstorms,
00:19wind and hail across portions
00:20of western Missouri,
00:21so that's the third state involved there
00:24with severe warnings at this point in time.
00:26And as we work our way north,
00:29and as we work our way northward,
00:31Iowa is the active zone.
00:32Of course, many tornadoes have
00:34touched down across Nebraska.
00:35Here's the center storms continue
00:37to push off towards the Northeast.
00:39We have several radar radar
00:40and spotter confirmed warnings.
00:41So one of these storms,
00:43I think this is the Madison County
00:45one was spotted by local broadcast
00:47media that saw it likely on one
00:49of their cameras there and meanwhile,
00:51there's another tornado warning until
00:538 o'clock for the Ringgold area.
00:55So we do have those warnings
00:57make sure you're seeking your
00:58shelter and getting your safe place.
01:00I want to highlight some of those storm
01:03reports just in the past couple of hours.
01:05Lots of red.
01:06Those are the tornadoes or funnel
01:08clouds that have been spotted
01:10through the state of Nebraska.
01:11Will be on this weekend.
01:13Severe weather threat.
01:14We've also been talking about
01:15looking ahead into next week and
01:17will we have even more severe storms?
01:19Bernie Raynell and Accuweather
01:20long range expert Joe Lundberg.
01:22Show us what to expect.
01:25Well, it's a marathon of severe
01:26weather right through the weekend.
01:28But what about next week?
01:29Meteorologist Joe Lundberg,
01:30you know, as the crystal ball,
01:32three things next week that we
01:34have to be ready for Joe.
01:35Well, I think after this spate
01:37of severe weather this weekend,
01:38it's going to start to take a
01:40backseat probably after Monday,
01:42and that's one of our three
01:43things to note for next week.
01:45Less severe weather on the whole.
01:46There will be a lot of warmth from
01:48the plains to the east over much of
01:51next week, although that may change
01:52toward the end of the week in the weekend.
01:55And there's going to be a
01:56period of wet weather weather from
01:57Texas to the Mid South in the
01:59Tennessee Valley, and I think it's
02:01centered largely on Wednesday and
02:02Thursday when you look at the weather
02:04pattern Joe the one thing that it's
02:05very noticeable to me is the jet
02:07streams a lot farther north next
02:08week compared to where it is currently.
02:10Yeah, you'll see this bulge in the
02:11jet stream middle of latter part of
02:13next week and that's going to mean
02:14high and dry across the Western states.
02:16The dip of the jet stream here means
02:18you're going to have an opportunity
02:19for some showers and don't be surprised
02:21if you see some cold air that a little
02:23snow mixes in some of those places.
02:24There's this period of wet weather
02:25as a front comes through Wednesday
02:27night Thursday into Thursday night.
02:28That's when I think you're going to
02:29see most of the wet weather there,
02:31but all this eastern space warmth.
02:32Something unusual.
02:33We've not seen an awful lot of it now.
02:35If you look at the rainfall
02:36over the past 30 days,
02:37Bernie will notice that this
02:38area has been very dry,
02:39so you need the rain.
02:40You're going to get some this weekend
02:42at the risk of severe weather.
02:43You see all this wet weather in here.
02:45It's actually going to quiet down
02:46as we go into next week.
02:47This area has been hit by a lot of
02:49rain and you're going to see more
02:50of that in the next few days deep
02:52into next week. Alright, real quickly,
02:53Joe, let's talk about the first week of May.
02:56A storm stormy stretch.
02:57Yeah, I think so.
02:58Concerned about an area of low
02:59pressure comes out of the Rockies,
03:00works its way toward the Great Lakes
03:02and underneath it multiple rounds
03:03of showers and thunderstorms.
03:05There may not be as much severe weather with it,
03:07but it's certainly on the table.
03:09I think the bigger concern would
03:10be that of flash flooding.
