From heavy rain in San Francisco to blowing snow in Baltimore, here's how the weather could affect your travel plans on Feb. 17.
Transcript
00:00 It was a frigid Friday morning in western New York, where the strong winds, they were
00:05 blowing with snow.
00:07 Planes had to be de-iced at the Rochester International Airport and throughout the U.S.
00:13 today, there have been more than 2,700 flights that have been delayed and over 50 cancellations,
00:20 according to FlightAware.
00:21 So where could some of the worst travel be as we head through tomorrow?
00:25 Let's take you across the nation for our national travel outlook.
00:28 And you can see here that storm system quickly moving out to see a little bit of snow with
00:32 that front dropping into the Texas Panhandle, but it's all in New Mexico where we find the
00:37 snow.
00:38 Otherwise, very quiet through the central U.S.
00:41 You have to get into the west to find more of that action.
00:46 There will be delays in the northwest, especially Portland.
00:48 Minor delays, possibly becoming major delays farther south through Oregon.
00:52 Places like Medford expect some of those problems.
00:54 Minor delays in Reno as we get that moisture late.
00:57 San Francisco, though, major delays, and especially just north of there where we have
01:01 the heavy rainfall.
01:02 That will be of the biggest concern.
01:04 Elsewhere throughout the southwest, we're out of it.
01:06 We stay out of it for a little while, and then we're going to wait for more stormy weather
01:10 heading into early upcoming week.
01:13 Meanwhile, as we take you Saturday into New York, Buffalo, major snow delays here as there
01:18 will be some snow squalls kind of working their way on through.
01:21 These bands are like almost like snow thunderstorms, if you will.
01:25 So that's going to be one of the challenges throughout the northeast, and that can create
01:30 some delays.
01:31 Minor delays in Buffalo as we get some of the last of that snow pushing out.
01:34 We do have some major delays in places like Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, D.C.,
01:39 because we're cleaning up from all the snow through the overnight hours.
01:43 So for Washington, D.C., for example, our snowfall ends around 7 a.m., but of course,
01:49 you still got to plow and clean things up.
01:51 That's why we have some of those delays throughout the day in Washington, D.C., especially early
01:54 on 1 to 3 inches of snow via your AccuWeather Wintercast, which you can get on the AccuWeather
01:59 app or accuweather.com anytime you have snow in your forecast.
02:03 Flight cancellations heading into the weekend.
02:05 We will have a little bit more of a challenge on Sunday, but overall, this isn't too bad
02:08 for winter day based on what the weather will bring us.
