00:00 >> Last day of camp, did it fly or?
00:02 >> We got one more day tomorrow.
00:04 We'll come over and walk through a little bit before the game, but
00:07 it went by pretty fast.
00:08 I like the camp that we had though.
00:10 I thought guys worked hard.
00:12 I think we're a better football team now than when we showed up July 24th.
00:16 Just doing the best we can to keep guys healthy and
00:19 try to get to week one with the right team.
00:21 >> When you're making some of these decisions, bottom third of the roster,
00:25 how important is versatility, especially on the defensive side of the ball,
00:28 being able to play multiple positions?
00:29 >> Special teams is huge.
00:31 If you can play your position, multiple positions, defensively,
00:34 if you're a linebacker, can line up in all three spots and play special teams,
00:37 that's valuable.
00:38 >> Has he come up to you and asked you about playing on Saturday?
00:43 >> No, he has not.
00:44 >> [INAUDIBLE] >> So the plan will stay the plan.
00:49 >> And the plan is?
00:52 >> Well, you haven't seen him play yet, so I doubt you'll see him on Saturday.
00:55 >> [INAUDIBLE]
01:05 >> The guys that have been playing all along,
01:07 those guys are gonna play.
01:08 And they may play a little bit longer this game, because it's the third game.
01:12 And the guys that I've set out, those guys are gonna set out,
01:16 except for Casey Hayward.
01:17 Casey's gonna play a couple of snaps.
01:19 So that's what he felt like he needed, so that's what I'm gonna give him.
01:23 >> So Casey was one of the guys that asked, that wanted to get out there.
01:28 >> Yeah, yeah.
01:29 >> Any of those guys have seen you?
01:31 >> No, no, we're the player from the get-go with those guys, and
01:35 we're gonna stick to the plan.
01:36 >> So staying, or?
01:37 >> Sticking to the plan, yep, yep.
01:41 >> You got Nas back out there playing some of those?
01:43 >> Yeah, it's good to see him back out today.
01:45 We made a couple plays, moving around, working him in slowly, though.
01:49 >> Do you think he'll play either Saturday or next week?
01:51 >> I don't know about this week, but
01:53 definitely wanna try to get him out there next week.
01:56 >> Coach, what does it mean to have Don Trellin back?
01:58 He was here a couple years ago, now he's back with the team.
02:00 What does it mean to have him back in the team?
02:04 >> Heck of a guy, young man, but when I was here, he was hurt, so
02:07 I never got to see him play.
02:09 I saw him play in a playoff game last year, he looked pretty good.
02:11 I'm glad to have him.
02:13 He's a good looking guy, tall, can run a little bit, and an excellent route runner.
02:17 I think he's a guy that can line up across the board in any position.
02:21 So that's valuable to us.
02:23 I think it's gonna bring some good depth to our receiving core.
02:25 >> Even though he just got here, do you expect him to play in the tournament?
02:28 >> Well, he was in the same system in Indianapolis with Nick, and
02:32 our system is similar to New England.
02:34 So the terminology is the same for him.
02:37 So he can pick up pretty much where he left off, to be honest.
02:40 >> Was signing him an indication at all of your view of some of the younger guys,
02:44 like Martavis?
02:45 >> No, it was everything to do with Don Trellin, what he's done in this league.
02:48 And he's very familiar with our quarterback, he's been here before.
02:52 We just want to get more depth.
02:53 >> [INAUDIBLE]
03:03 >> I think it's a good factor.
03:10 A veteran guy who's been there and done it,
03:13 to come in and compete with some of these younger guys.
03:18 And the next couple of weeks, I thought it was a good pickup.
03:20 >> [INAUDIBLE]
03:30 >> I think it definitely helps the quarterbacks.
03:37 They've been seeing, like you say, a lot of the same schemes, all training camps.
03:40 So they've had a lot of reps.
03:42 So it's definitely gonna help them.
03:43 But I like it when they go up against different defenses.
03:46 I like to see how they respond to something different,
03:49 because that's kinda how the season is.
03:52 So.
03:52 >> [INAUDIBLE]
03:56 >> We wanna keep the best 53 players.
03:59 I mean, well, I shouldn't say the best, the right 53 players.
04:02 And so Tom and I sit down and we'll talk about those numbers and
04:05 we'll do the best we can.
04:08 >> What's the difference between the best and the right 53 players?
04:10 >> Well, the best 53 is not always the right 53 that you need to build a team.
04:15 And chemistry and play together.
04:19 A lot of the core values that we believe in here, I think you need the right guys.
04:23 Sometimes it's not always the best guys, it's just the right guys.
04:26 So that explains it.
